There I was, cruising back after a short vacation on Cape Cod, when I tuned into what should have been a somber press conference about the tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Instead, I found myself listening to yet another nauseating display of political opportunism that left me questioning whether these people have any shame left at all.
Left-leaning politicians and activists wasted no time demanding more gun control measures, as if the millions of law-abiding gun owners across America had somehow pulled the trigger themselves. It's the same broken record we hear after every tragedy, and frankly, it's become as predictable as it is disgusting.
But what really turned my stomach was watching Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have the audacity to lecture people about "common humanity" while simultaneously engaging in the most blatant form of selective outrage I've witnessed in years. We learned after the shooting that the alleged shooter, Robert Westman, was a trans-identifying male, and that seemed to bother Frey more than anything else, because he immediately went into damage control mode.
"Anybody who is using this as an opportunity to villainize our trans community or any other community out there has lost their sense of common humanity," Frey declared, adding that people "should not be operating out of a place of hate for anyone" but rather "from a place of our love for kids." He claimed he'd heard about "hate being directed to our trans community" simply because people were discussing the shooter's “gender identity.”
Let me get this straight. We're not allowed to notice patterns or discuss relevant facts about a mass shooter's identity, but we're supposed to sit quietly while Frey and his allies blame every single gun owner in America for crimes they didn't commit?
This shooting took place at a Catholic school, where innocent victims were literally praying when violence erupted. The irony wasn't lost on me that Frey, who has previously mocked prayers offered by shooting victims in his own city, was now lecturing others about compassion and humanity. The man has some nerve.
ICYMI: This Truth Bomb on Trans Violence Is a Must Watch
What we're witnessing here isn't just garden-variety political opportunism. It's a deliberate effort to shield one particular community from any scrutiny while simultaneously demonizing millions of Americans who have never harmed anyone. When transgender-identifying people commit acts of mass violence, we're told that discussing their identity is somehow hateful or inappropriate. But when it comes to law-abiding gun owners, apparently anything goes.
The uncomfortable truth that people like Frey don't want us to acknowledge is that this incident represents part of a disturbing pattern. High-profile mass shootings involving transgender individuals have become increasingly common in recent years, yet we're expected to pretend this trend doesn't exist. Sorry, but noticing patterns isn't hateful. It's called paying attention. We can’t ignore this trend. We have to be honest about why it’s happening. The Left doesn’t want us to do that because they’ve spent years trying to push the narrative that transgenderism is normal and not a mental illness.
Instead of treating gender dysphoria as the serious psychological condition it clearly is, radical leftist ideology has emotionally blackmailed the media, Hollywood, the medical community, and academia into treating it as something we're supposed to celebrate and affirm.
This backwards approach isn't helping anyone, least of all the individuals struggling with gender dysphoria who aren’t getting the psychological help they need. When we refuse to acknowledge that someone who believes they're trapped in the wrong body might be dealing with serious mental health challenges, we're doing them a profound disservice. We're also potentially putting innocent people at risk, as this latest tragedy demonstrates.
The contrast in how Mayor Frey approaches these issues reveals everything you need to know about the current state of progressive priorities. He's perfectly comfortable blaming millions of Americans who have never committed a violent act in their lives, but he draws the line at honest discussions about transgender ideology and its potential connection to violence.
We cannot allow wokeness to prevent us from having necessary conversations about mental health and public safety. It's long past time we started treating gender dysphoria as the mental illness it is, rather than something normal that deserves celebration. Lives depend on our willingness to confront these uncomfortable truths, regardless of how loudly people like Jacob Frey complain about our supposed lack of "common humanity."
