James Gunn and his brother have once again reminded us that Hollywood’s ruling class would rather lecture middle America than entertain it. Their new Superman reboot doesn’t soar — it panders. Instead of giving us the timeless tale of heroism and virtue, they’ve hijacked the franchise to serve up more tired leftist messaging. So no, I won’t be wasting my time or money on this one.
And honestly, maybe that’s for the best. No one will ever capture the essence of Superman like Christopher Reeve did, and I say that as someone who wore out the VHS tapes as a kid. That doesn’t mean I’ve rejected the modern takes. Watching “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” was like a Sunday ritual when I was a teen. As an adult, I caught “Superman Returns,” even saw the DCEU films with Henry Cavill, even though they kinda sucked. I’ve always had a soft spot for the character. I would’ve given this reboot a shot out of pure nostalgia. But if they’re going to turn Superman into just another vessel for leftist propaganda, I’ll happily sit this one out.
Sean Gunn, brother of director James Gunn, recently declared that the film is “about how we support immigrants and if you don't like it, you're not an American.” That’s right: disagree with their worldview, and suddenly your citizenship is up for debate.

It’s no secret that superhero movies have become formulaic, recycling the same plots and city-leveling CGI with each new installment. But now, instead of even attempting fresh storytelling, Hollywood’s answer is to shoehorn political messaging into every frame. The new Superman is less the champion of “Truth, Justice and the American Way” and more a symbol for whatever cause is trending in Tinseltown. This time, he’s a “kinder, gentler” immigrant with a dog, and if you’re not on board, you’re the problem.
No thanks.
The arrogance on display is staggering. The Gunn brothers seem to believe that telling millions of Americans they’re “un-American” for opposing illegal immigration is a winning strategy. Maybe they think it’s bold. In reality, it’s economic suicide. The film reportedly needs to rake in $700 million just to break even. Will it? Probably eventually. Given the public’s growing fatigue with both superhero flicks and Hollywood’s sanctimony, it will probably take a while. But even if it flops, rest assured: The industry will shower the Gunns with praise for their “courageous” messaging.

Maybe, just maybe, people are tired of being preached at by millionaires who despise their values. Maybe Americans want stories with real heroes, not lectures about how they’re failing some ideological purity test. But don’t expect Hollywood to learn the lesson. If this Superman reboot fails, the excuse will be that it wasn’t woke enough.
Hollywood’s self-righteous crusade continues, and regular Americans are left rolling their eyes. The industry’s stars have gone so far off the deep end that they’re out of touch with the very people they expect to buy tickets. The only superpower left in Hollywood is its ability to alienate its own audience.
