Trump Is Doing Better Than Democrats Would Have You Believe

Despite endless handwringing from Democrats and their media allies over Donald Trump’s poll numbers, CNN’s data analyst Harry Enten just blew up the narrative. Enten has revealed what the Democratic Party doesn’t want to admit: Voters still think that Trump is the one we need to fix our nation’s problems.

“Who’d be doing a better job as president?” Enten asked. “Guess who comes out on top — within the margin of error, but comes out on top?” The answer? Trump leads Kamala Harris 45% to 43%. That margin, while narrow, is, as Enten noted, a “heck of a lot like the election result” from 2024.

Enten went further. “It’s not just about regretting that vote,” he said. “It’s literally saying, ‘Who would be doing the better job right now?’ And Trump continues to score a higher percentage of the vote than Kamala Harris.”

Even more damaging for Democrats is what happens when you pit Trump against congressional Democrats. “Who do you trust more on the main problems in the United States?” Enten asked. “It’s the same exact picture, folks.” When matched against his “actual competition,” Trump comes out ahead once again.

He then shared the brutal numbers: “Look at this: 40% to congressional Democrats, 32%.” According to Enten, “When you look at Donald Trump in a vacuum, it’s one thing, but when you actually match him up against folks in the real world, all of a sudden his numbers look considerably better.”

That eight-point advantage, he emphasized, “in this politics, well, that’s a wide ocean.” His co-host responded, “Maybe it tells the Democrats that their messaging is not working at this point in time.” Enten agreed: “Correct.”

But it didn’t stop there. When asked which party is more trusted on major issues like the economy and immigration, Enten didn’t sugarcoat the situation for Democrats. “On immigration, the GOP crushes the Democrats,” he said. “That’s a 19-point edge. My goodness gracious. You rarely ever see leads like that in politics these days.”

Even on the economy — a place where Democrats have hoped to gain ground — Republicans still lead by a whopping nine points. That might come as a surprise to those still clinging to the belief that Trump’s economic message has lost its punch. But Enten spelled it out clearly: “Despite Donald Trump’s unpopularity in the polls, when you actually go up against him and you put Democrats’ names against him… Republicans and Donald Trump do considerably better.”

His final warning to Democrats? “They cannot count their chickens just yet, because those eggs have not cracked.”

Democrats aren’t running away with anything. If anything, they’re stuck in neutral. They desperately need to figure out what their message is — if they even have one. Right now, it’s all performative nonsense. They sit on the Capitol steps staging protests for the cameras, pretending that it’s leadership. It’s not.

Meanwhile, they banked everything on Trump’s personal unfavorability dragging him down. But voters are looking past the noise. They care about results, not feelings, and on that front, Trump is still beating them, no matter how loud the left screams.
