The Democrats' Worst-Kept Political Secret

Democrats are already laying the groundwork for their next move against President Trump—and it’s exactly what you think it is. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer just made a telling admission that reveals how far they’re willing to go if they claw their way back into power. In a stunning moment on CNN, Schumer couldn’t even bring himself to deny it when pressed. What he said—and what he didn’t say—should leave no doubt about what’s coming if they get the chance.

In a wide-ranging interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union,” Schumer unloaded on Trump’s foreign policy, economic strategy, and immigration enforcement, painting a grim picture of the country under Trump’s leadership. When asked directly whether impeachment would be a priority if Democrats retake Congress, Schumer didn’t even bother to hide the possibility.

Earlier in the interview, Schumer warned that if Trump doesn’t back Ukraine against Russia, it would send a disastrous message internationally. “If Trump caves in to Putin, it’s bad in three very bad ways,” Schumer declared. He claimed abandoning Ukraine would be a “moral tragedy,” would “tear asunder” America’s alliances with Europe, and would make the U.S. appear “weak” to adversaries like China, North Korea, and Iran.

Schumer also ranted about immigration, accusing Trump of acting like a monarch. Referring to false reports that U.S. citizens are being deported, Schumer fumed, “He believes he’s a king. He is not.”

He went on with the usual Democrat talking points that we keep hearing over and over, but the most revealing moment came when the conversation turned back to impeachment. As we reported previously at PJ Media, Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) openly called for Trump’s impeachment at a town hall.

“Do you agree with him?” Bash asked. “Would that be a priority if Democrats were to take back Congress?”

“Uh, well look, right now President Trump is violating rule of law in every way,” Schumer replied, attempting to dodge  the question. “And we’re fighting him every single day in every way, and our goal is to show the American people over and over again, whether it’s the economy, whether it’s tariffs, whether it’s Russia and overseas, and whether it’s rule of law, how bad he is.”

He added, “And, uh, you know, it’s t- uh, two years is too far away to predict. Our job is day to day to day to show who Trump is, what he is doing, and it’s having an effect as your poll showed.”

Clearly not satisfied with the evasion, Bash asked, “But you’re not ruling out—you’re not saying no?”

“Look, it’s too far away to even, it’s too far away to even judge,” he said.

Now, Schumer didn’t want to say that impeachment is on the table, but he said that impeachment was on the table. Make no mistake about it, if Democrats regain power, Americans should prepare for yet another chapter in the never-ending campaign to take down Donald Trump—with impeachment very much back on the menu. Given how poorly Democrats are polling now, even among their base, impeachment may be the only thing they can do to energize the party.

The question is, will we let them win back a House majority in 2026? Because it won’t take long for them to impeach Trump for some phony charge again if they do win.
