The Ridiculous Myth of Trump Voter Regret

Donald Trump’s landslide victory in November was nothing short of historic, and he’s wasted no time getting to work undoing the damage left by Joe Biden’s disastrous presidency. But the mainstream media is in full spin mode, desperately pushing the narrative that a so-called wave of Trump voter regret is sweeping the country.

For example, The Wall Street Journal followed up with nearly two dozen Trump voters and supposedly found that while many were thrilled with his bold actions to shake up Washington, some voiced concerns over his cuts to the government workforce and aggressive immigration enforcement.

“When we said safer borders, I thought he was thinking, ‘let’s stop the drugs from coming into the country,’” Staci White, a 49-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska, told the paper. “I didn’t know he was going to start raiding places.”

Really? He literally has been promising for over a year that he would carry out “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”

She added, “Now I’m like: ‘Dang, why didn’t I just pick Kamala?’”

Yeah, I bet. Are we really supposed to believe that this person was really blindsided by Trump’s deportation raids?

It gets worse. Another voter claims she is “absolutely embarrassed” she voted for Trump because, among other things, his focus on deportations.

Another mentioned Trump’s tariff threats against Mexico and Canada.

“At first glance, ‘oh no,’ you cringe," Gary Dixon of Denver, Colo., told the paper. “You’re like ‘holy s—t he’s going to start a war.’”

Again, are we really supposed to believe these Trump voters were blinded by Trump following through on his long-established campaign promises? Not only was Trump talking about imposing reciprocal tariffs on other countries throughout his campaign, but Trump’s tariff threats literally achieved exactly what Trump wanted. Canada was literally bracing for potential tariffs a year ago.

We saw a similar phenomenon when Fox News Channel’s Jessica Tarlov claimed that a 20-year-old college student from the Midwest and a conservative, pro-Trump family found himself turned off by the “chaos” of the Trump administration—I’m not sure what the chaos is, exactly—and Trump’s tariffs on China, as if he didn’t campaign on that very issue.

Do you really think it’s just a coincidence that every alleged regretful Trump voter is distraught over him doing exactly what he promised all along?

This entire narrative of regretful Trump voters feels like a coordinated psyop designed to undermine his presidency from the start. The media, desperate to manufacture the illusion of widespread buyer’s remorse, has trotted out a handful of supposedly disillusioned supporters who claim they had no idea Trump would actually follow through on his most well-known promises. Are we really supposed to believe that these voters—who backed a candidate famous for his tough stance on immigration, tariffs, and draining the swamp—are now suddenly shocked and appalled that he’s doing exactly what he said he would?

We’ve seen this movie before. Back in 2017, the media ran with the phony Russian collusion hoax in an effort to kneecap Trump’s presidency before it even got off the ground. For years, they breathlessly peddled baseless allegations, propping up deep-state actors and anonymous officials who worked behind the scenes to sabotage his administration. That collapsed under its own weight, but the goal was clear—delegitimize Trump, stall his agenda, and create the impression that his presidency was in chaos. Now, they’re running the same playbook with this ridiculous “Trump voter regret” storyline.
