President Trump was elected for a lot of reasons, one of which was his promise to cut waste in government. Trump’s promise was hardly groundbreaking. Lots of presidential candidates, and indeed, presidents have claimed to want to reduce waste. The problem is that for most, it was just empty rhetoric because there has been no substantive effort by any administration to reduce waste. Until now.
And, as expected, the left is furious. It's filing lawsuits, crying “constitutional crisis” and even waging a few insurrections. Yet there’s a narrative brewing that despite the rhetoric, everyone, including Democrats, is all for cutting government waste.
For example, in a recent segment on MSNBC, analyst Elise Jordan drew a comparison between the federal government’s budget cuts and the Afghanistan withdrawal, suggesting that while there’s bipartisan agreement on reducing waste, the execution is flawed. Jordan stated, “Right now we agree that there's waste in the federal government and that everyone would like to cut the deficit and cut spending. The way they're going about it — it makes no sense.”
Jordan continued, "They need to be more strategic about what they're cutting and where and have some success, have some early success to show that the mission can continue before you just decimate and hollow out critical areas like nuclear security."

Ohhhhh so that's it! Democrats aren’t against DOGE — they just don’t like how it’s being done!

Are we supposed to believe their issue is with the methods — not the objective, not the outcome, just the way it’s carried out? Come on. I know the MSNBC audience isn’t the smartest group of people, but she must really think viewers are stupid.
Let’s face it, claiming that “everyone would like to cut the deficit and cut spending” is a stretch. While Republicans have long championed fiscal restraint, the left has consistently resisted cuts, often framing them as attacks on essential services. Barack Obama even signed an executive order in 2011 to cut waste and promote efficient spending throughout the federal government.
“Well, from the day I took office, one of the commitments that I made to the American people was that we would do a better job here in Washington in rooting out wasteful spending,” Obama said when he signed the executive order. “At a time when families have had to cut back, have had to make some tough decisions about getting rid of things that they don’t need in order to make the investments that they do, we thought that it was entirely appropriate for our governments and our agencies to try to root out waste, large and small, in a systematic way.”

Obama even acknowledged that cutting waste was not something Congress has repeatedly failed to do. “Cutting waste, making government more efficient, is something that leaders in both parties have worked on,” he explained. “We haven’t seen as much action out of Congress as we’d like, and that’s why we launched, on our own initiative, the campaign to cut waste. Not just to cut spending but to make government work better for the American people.”
And what came of that? Nothing. It was all talk. Now Trump is shaking up the system by actually following through — and the left is panicking. For all the hysteria and fearmongering, not a single Democrat has extended an olive branch to work together on cutting waste. Instead, they’re resorting to bogus accusations, claiming the issue isn’t what Elon Musk and DOGE are doing, but how they’re doing it.
Even more laughable was Mark Cuban’s claim that DOGE isn’t being “transparent” enough, even though it's openly declaring every move it makes and its impact. You can’t get more transparent than that. It highlighted the wasteful things that USAID was funding, like transgender operas, and said “No more,” and all Democrats could say in response was that DOGE was eliminating funding for essential services and humanitarian aid.
The left thinks you’re stupid. It's throwing out every red herring imaginable because it knows cutting waste is popular. They can’t oppose it outright, so they’re scrambling for any excuse to attack DOGE.
