With the election behind us, a majority of Americans are breathing a sigh of relief that Kamala Harris will never be president. Or will she? We know that Democrats haven't exactly taken their defeat very well, and there was talk about Joe Biden resigning so that Kamala could have a few weeks as president as a consolation prize, as well as to spare her the indignity of certifying the results of the election. That idea prompted a lot of backlash, but, surprisingly, the idea of Kamala Harris being installed as president has gone away.
Victor Davis Hanson, a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, suggested on his podcast Friday that Democrats might still try to install Kamala Harris as president, citing concerns about President Joe Biden’s behavior, including a recent incident that went viral on social media where he appeared to wander into the Amazon jungle during a press conference.
Hanson observed that with the election over, Kamala has reverted to her “left-wing self," and is no longer pretending to be a moderate.
“But my point about all of this is twofold. [Joe Biden] is the president. He told everybody what he wanted to do. He was criticized severely in the campaign for being too provocative, but the point is that was unlike Kamala Harris,” Hanson said. “She said everything that she said emphatically as a leftist. Fracking? ‘Of course I’m gonna ban it.’ She went out in demonstrations, no deportation, no deportation. Guns? She didn’t just say I want to, ‘I want to buy back guns. I’ll go into their house and get them,’ she said. Then she flipped.”

“She flipped on all of those, just for a hundred days," Hanson continued. "She’s back to her left-wing self right now, I assure you that. We’re gonna see that because when Joe Biden is wandering off into the Amazon jungle at the G20, or they say, ‘You know what? We waited 10 minutes and Joe is wandering around somewhere in the jungle and we have a photo op, so we’re just gonna do it. Forget him, or if he does come in late, put him up in the right corner somewhere.’ So there’s a big call that he should step down and she should step [up]."
Hanson suggested that Democrats might pursue efforts to jail Trump through one of his indictments and, simultaneously, have Biden step down to transfer the presidency to Kamala.
“I said that they would probably try to put Trump in jail and Joe Biden was deteriorating at a geometric rate, would probably be la-la land, and then there would be calls to make her president. Then she would be acculturated for 60 days and then the Left would, that would give the left time enough,” Hanson explained. “Like this crazy representative Raskin or somebody, ‘Wow, the 14th Amendment, He’s like an extra. He’s just like a Confederate general. He tried to start a civil war, so he can’t hold a federal office. We’re gonna go to court and we’ll get a judge and we’ll stay.'”
Hanson assured us that he's not just stoking fears and that he really believes Democrats would do this.
“I really believe they’re gonna do that," he insisted. I say there’s a 30% chance that Joe will be, he might not be able to finish his term the next two months.”
It certainly would be an ironic move when leftists have been feigning fear that Trump will try to seek a third term even though he clearly can't because of the 22nd Amendment.
Hanson raises some interesting points, but let’s be real—it’s not happening. The Democratic Party may be unhinged, hurling absurd accusations about Trump being a threat to “democracy,” but Joe Biden, who still harbors resentment for being forced out of the race, isn’t about to give up the presidency in his final weeks. And he certainly won’t hand it over to Kamala Harris, a successor he likely never wanted to win in the first place. Invoking the 25th Amendment now? That’s pure desperation and completely out of the question.
Moreover, there’s no real appetite among Democrats to stop Trump from taking office. If anything, they’ve resigned themselves to the inevitable, accepting the outcome as a foregone conclusion. They Democrats may be evil and conniving, but can you really see them making this play for Kamala?
