Is a new pandemic on the horizon that will prompt various states to mandate mail-in voting for the presidential election in 2024? The media wants us to think so. Stories are popping up everywhere, and it feels like they are trying to scare everyone. And when the population is scared, that's when the government gets to do all sorts of crazy things that we long assumed they could or would never do.
Earlier this month, the media reported that "a bird flu pandemic with the potential to be '100 times worse than COVID' may be on the horizon after a rare human case was discovered in Texas, experts have warned."
The H5N1 avian flu has spread rapidly since a new strain was detected in 2020, affecting wild birds in every state, as well as in commercial poultry and backyard flocks.
But it has now even been detected in mammals, with cattle herds across four states becoming infected, and on Monday, federal health officials announced that a dairy worker in Texas caught the virus.
“This virus [has been] on the top of the pandemic list for many, many years and probably decades,” Dr. Suresh Kuchipudi, a bird flu researcher from Pittsburgh, said at a recent panel discussing the issue, according to the Daily Mail.
“And now we’re getting dangerously close to this virus potentially causing a pandemic.”
According to the World Health Organization, roughly 52% of humans who have been infected with H5N1 since 2003 have died, while "COVID currently kills less than 0.1% of those it infects." In the early weeks of the pandemic, however, it was believed to have been much higher.
Over the weekend, the liberal rag Slate started stoking fear in its readership about the possibility that a new bird flu pandemic could be on the horizon. "Another Person Was Infected With Bird Flu. What’s Going On?" the headline reads.
Message received: Be scared — be very scared — because obviously, we have no idea why this is happening. Heck, things could be worse than we realize. Let's start panicking and bring back social distancing, masking, and school closures. Oh yeah, and most importantly, we gotta vote by mail.

Okay, they're not saying that yet, but who would expect us not to be concerned? Lord knows that Democrats would love for there to be a reason to implement mass mail-in voting again.
A recent study found that "had the 2020 election been conducted like every national election has been over the past two centuries, wherein the vast majority of voters cast ballots in-person rather than by mail, Donald Trump would have almost certainly been re-elected."
It makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? A whopping 43% of the votes cast in the 2020 presidential election were mail-in ballots. That's the largest margin in history. You know how Democrats just love mail-in voting. They love it so much that they tried to create universal mail-in voting nationwide back in 2021.
After the COVID pandemic, I doubt we'd see mail-in voting implemented to the same degree as it was in 2020, but think about the battleground states with Democratic governors like Michigan. Trump has had a solid lead in the state for months. Would you put it past Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.) to impose similar restrictions as she did during COVID to help boost Biden in November?
Can anyone tell me with a straight face that she wouldn't? I'd love to believe that it wouldn't happen, but between the Democrats' lust for power and what we saw happen in 2020, I can't pretend that it couldn't happen again.
