Will Joe Biden Leave the White House if He Loses?

The polls show Donald Trump leading Joe Biden in the both national and battleground state polls. Biden’s approval ratings are well below the threshold widely accepted as being needed to win reelection, and voters overwhelmingly trust Trump more on the issues that matter most in the election.

But, Biden claims democracy is at stake in this election. If he loses in November, will he refuse to leave? This is not an April Fool's Day gag. It’s a fair question—one that was asked of Trump many times during the 2020 campaign, and should be asked today of Joe Biden.

It was also during that campaign that Joe Biden claimed he was worried Trump would steal the election. “It's my greatest concern, my single greatest concern. This president is going to try to steal this election,” Biden told the former host of “The Daily Show,” Trevor Noah.

Never forget that Democrats have a reputation for accusing Republicans of the very things they do themselves.

The truth is, we already know that Biden has been trying to steal the election. He’s weaponized his Department of Justice against Trump with the goal of putting him in prison. His administration has also been aiding and abetting state cases against Trump. But, even more telling is that, according to Rolling Stone, Joe Biden is building a “superstructure” to “stop Trump from stealing the election.” In other words, Biden’s team is wargaming scenarios to steal the election themselves in the event of an extremely close election.

A constant theme of Biden’s 2024 election message is that “democracy is on the ballot.”

“Today, we’re here to answer the most important of questions: Is democracy still America’s sacred cause?” Biden said in a speech marking the third anniversary of the January 6 Capitol riot. “This is not rhetorical, academic, or hypothetical.  Whether democracy is still America’s sacred cause is the most urgent question of our time, and it’s what the 2024 election is all about.”

Biden added, “America, as we begin this election year, we must be clear: Democracy is on the ballot. Your freedom is on the ballot.”

This was neither the first nor the last time Biden used this rhetoric, essentially predicting the end of our republic if Trump returns to the White House. While it’s already been established that Biden and his team will use every possible scheme to remain in power, it may not be enough. Despite everything they’ve tried to take down Trump, it hasn’t worked, and according to reports, panic is setting in within the White House and the Biden campaign. He’s bleeding support from nonwhite voters and young voters—two key constituencies any Democrat needs to win an election. In short, it may be impossible for Biden to overcome the voters’ rejection of his failed presidency.

Will Biden see that the end justifies the means, and refuse to relinquish power in the name of “preserving democracy”? Biden has already laid the groundwork for accusing Trump of trying to steal the 2024 election, and Joe Biden is no stranger to claiming an election was stolen. In 2013, he said he believed that Al Gore won the 2000 presidential election. While campaigning in 2020, Biden agreed Trump was an illegitimate president. Would Biden actually go through with what many on the left claimed Trump would do in 2020: refuse to relinquish power?

Democrats have a long, sordid history of stooping to the lowest of lows to preserve their power, even weaponizing the federal government against their political enemies, and Joe Biden has made it very clear he sees stopping Trump as essential to preserving the republic. If Trump wins—and at present, that looks likely—will Joe Biden refuse to give up the Oval Office? All indications suggest he would feel absolutely justified in doing so... to protect democracy.
