Why Won’t Joe Biden Sanction Hamas?

Honestly, I’m not sure what side Joe Biden is on. We all know that publicly, he claims to have Israel’s back. However, once polls showed that he was facing a huge decline in support from within his own party for not being more pro-Palestinian, his administration quickly changed its tune, and started being more critical of the Israel government. That is just the latest the example of the administration’s questionable actions. The administration reportedly knew about the planned terror attack on Israel, but did nothing. The administration also falsely claimed that Iran wasn't involved in the planning or financing of the Hamas attack—clearly trying to put distance between the attack and Biden’s unfreezing of $6 billion in Iranian assets a month earlier.

Biden also tried to delay Israel's ground assault in Gaza and later called for a "pause," aligning with Hamas's goals. Additionally, the Biden administration imposed restrictions on Israel's request to purchase M-16 rifles after the Hamas attack, insisting on guarantees that the weapons wouldn't reach civilian outposts in the West Bank.

But, wait, there’s more. Biden also insisted on sending millions in aid to Gaza and the West Bank, knowing that this money would get intercepted by Hamas.

All of this is already quite disturbing, but the Biden administration’s realignment in the Israel-Hamas conflict is even worse than that. Despite the fact that Hamas is a known terrorist group, and they are using civilians as human shield, the Biden administration is refusing to impose sanctions on them.

And a bipartisan group of lawmakers isn’t happy.

"The Biden administration is not enforcing U.S. sanctions on Hamas’s use of human shields, drawing bipartisan concerns in Congress as the Iran-backed terror group uses civilians to shield itself from Israeli military attacks,” reports the Washington Free Beacon. "As Israel’s war on Hamas enters its second month, it has become increasingly clear the terror group is placing civilians in harm’s way in order to maximize casualties, in violation of a U.S. law barring the use of human shields."

"While the U.S. government has taken measures to combat Hamas and Hezbollah in recent years, it has yet to sanction Hamas and Hezbollah leaders for their use of human shields," the letter led by Reps. Mike Gallagher (R., Wis.) and Brad Sherman (D., Calif.) states. "Imposing such sanctions would make clear that the U.S. government does not tolerate the use of human shields and would encourage like-minded countries to take similar measures against this war crime."

The letter also makes the point that sanctioning Hamas “would send a message to officials of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Taliban, the Islamic State, Russia, and other prolific users of human shields that there is now a price to be paid for engaging in this horrific war crime.”

Publicly, Biden has condemned Hamas for their use of human shields, which makes his failure to sanction Hamas extremely suspect. There is simply no reason to not to take action against Hamas.

Ask yourself, why is Biden helping the terrorist organization by not sanctioning it?
