Will Democrat Voters Finally Purge Their Anti-Semitic Reps in Congress?

The Israel-Hamas war has really brought out the antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiments that plague the Democratic Party. Many of us have been calling it out for years, but now, these Democrats in Congress have made very little effort to hide their true feelings.

Members of the so-called Squad, in particular, have been so egregious with their actions and rhetoric that many now face primary challengers.

As our sister site Townhall reports, Reps. Summer Lee (D-Pa.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Cori Bush (D-Mo.) all have primary challengers. Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) may have one soon.

Bush's challenger is Wesley Bell—a Soros-funded prosecutor. While that doesn't exactly make him sound like an ideal alternative to Bush, Bell dropped his longshot campaign for the U.S. Senate against Sen. Josh Hawley in order to challenge Bush, citing her response to the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel as the reason.

Bell insists that Democrats around the state have said it was more important for him to challenge Bush, and that he's been told, 'We need you in Washington, but St. Louis needs you in the House of Representatives."

Bush has continued to make anti-Israel and antisemitic statements, accusing Israel of committing war crimes against Palestinians.

While Bell being a Soros-funded prosecutor doesn't sound like a major improvement over Bush (especially in light of the fact that Soros-funded groups are responsible for the recent pro-Palestinian protest/insurrection at the Cannon House Office Building on the Capitol), Bell has taken a much more supportive position on Israel.

"I think we have to stand with our allies, and Israel has always been an ally," he said. "We always want to keep the door open for a two-state solution." Bell has also called out Hamas, saying, "We cannot, we cannot give aid and comfort to terrorist organizations, and Hamas is a terrorist organization, and Israel has the right to defend themselves."

So, will we see antisemitic Democrats in Congress get booted in primaries? Hopefully. Maybe some challengers will be successful. It's hard to say because I'm not confident in the Democratic Party. I've previously noted that Barack Obama made antisemitism fashionable in his party, and earlier this year, polling found that “Democrats’ sympathies for the Palestinians outpaced those for the Israelis.” Joe Biden's approval ratings from within his own party have taken a large tumble since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, likely due to his public support for Israel over Hamas. That means there is a sizable portion of Democrat voters sympathetic to Hamas and the Palestinians. How much influence they have in the party is not entirely clear, but seeing as the Squad has been able to exert significant influence over their party in Congress, I'm not confident they all can be primaried into retirement from Congress. Perhaps we'll learn something about the Democrats in those districts.
