Actress Carrie Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia Organa in “Star Wars,” passed away on Tuesday in Los Angeles at age 60. Fisher died four days after suffering a cardiac event on a flight from London.
Fisher took Hollywood by storm in the original “Star Wars” trilogy. Her feisty and classy princess shot down the advances of Han Solo (Harrison Ford), only to end up falling in love with him! Their romance helped make The Empire Strikes Back (1980) the best “Star Wars” film, with the iconic “I love you!” “I know” dialogue going down in history.

Besides her most famous role, Fisher appeared in many movies, and had quite a few cameo appearances in television shows. Here’s a list of 14 non-“Star Wars” movies featuring our favorite Princess Leia:
1. Shampoo (1975).
Fisher got her start in Hollywood in 1975, with a small part in the Warren Beaty movie Shampoo. Although she was the daughter of screen legend Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher, the actress might never have become Princess Leia without this start, two years before A New Hope (1977).
2. The Blues Brothers (1980).
This iconic and hilarious film, which came out the same year as The Empire Strikes Back, featured Hollywood greats John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. It came after Belushi’s hit Animal House (1978) but before Aykroyd’s iconic Ghostbusters (1984). Fisher was a “mystery woman,” a memorable role in this campy comedy.
3. Under the Rainbow (1981).
Fisher got her first major non-“Star Wars” role in 1981, where she is listed as the second star in Under the Rainbow. This zany film packed multiple fascinating characters into one hotel room in Los Angeles. A visiting dignitary, a CIA agent, a Nazi spy, Japanese tourists, an assassin, and a group of midget actors from The Wizard of Oz (1939) are all hilariously mismatched in the hotel. Fisher played a Hollywood script writer caught in the action.
4. Garbo Talks (1984).
After Return of the Jedi (1983), Princess Leia got another substantial role in the 1984 film Garbo Talks. Fisher is the daughter of a mother dying of brain cancer, and the movie focuses on arranging a meeting between the dying woman and her celebrity icon, Greta Garbo.
5. The Man with One Red Shoe (1985).
Fisher also fit into the Tom Hanks romantic comedy The Man with One Red Shoe. Fisher played Paula, a concert flutist following Richard Drew, the main character.
6. Hannah and Her Sisters (1986).
Fisher played an actress in this rom com spanning across two Thanksgivings, where the title character Hannah has a husband who falls in love with her sister.
7. Hollywood Vice Squad (1986).
Again, Fisher played a Hollywood insider in this film about a runaway daughter who ends up in the porn industry.
8. When Harry Met Sally (1989).
Fisher landed a fairly big role in the well-known rom com When Harry Met Sally. She played Marie, Sally’s friend who helps connect the two main characters, and ends up falling in love herself.
9. Hook (1991).
This classic kids’ movie (with an amazing soundtrack) included Carrie Fisher as “woman kissing on bridge,” but she was uncredited. She also reportedly did script-writing work for the movie.
10. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997).
Carrie Fisher played a therapist (uncredited) in this memorable raunchy comedy.
11. Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003).
Princess Leia had a minor role as “Mother Superior” in this action film.
12. Cougar Club (2007).
After her big streak in the 1980s, Fisher largely only landed small roles in films. One example is Cougar Club, a raunchy comedy about young men dedicating themselves to older women.
13. Fanboys (2009).
Fisher played a doctor in Fanboys, a nerdy comedy featuring a Darth Vader helmet on the cover.
14. Maps to the Stars (2014).
The “Star Wars” actress’ most recent role outside the franchise was in this Julianne Moore film. Since the movie takes place in Hollywood, Fisher plays herself in a cameo.
In addition to these and other movies, Fisher played Princess Leia in “Star Wars” spinoffs. She also made cameo appearances in television shows, including 30 Rock, Smallville, and Family Guy.
Carrie Fisher, who appeared in The Force Awakens (2015) and was digitally fit into Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), will be sorely missed. Princess Leia was still alive in The Force Awakens, and it will be interesting to see what happens with her character in the upcoming films.
