Todd Coontz promises that if you send him $273 in seed money, God will reward you with “supernatural change in 90 days.”
Coontz is the founder of Rockwealth International Ministries. The organization’s website is very short on content and very long on the selling of things and the begging for money. I did find a page titled “7 Divine Laws of a Seed” that begins, “Your seed determines your harvest.”
The page then goes on to claim,
God’s Increase System is founded on Divine Laws that govern His supply into your life … in every area of your life.
Those laws never change. They are immutable! This is the most significant quality a true law offers. They are discovered not created, altered or man-made. In reality, they are what they are, and it’s up to us to discover them. My life radically changed the day I discovered that something I possess (Seed) can be sown for something I want (Harvest).
In case you were unware, Todd Coontz’ drivel has nothing to do with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that “God’s Increase System” means becoming more like Jesus. Becoming richer has nothing to do with it. Christians are called to embrace suffering, ridicule, and loss of esteem in this life while following Jesus in grateful obedience.
Skipping to the end of Coontz’ blasphemy quoted above, take special note that the televangelist has reduced God’s plan of redemption to a crass investment opportunity based on greed: “something I possess (Seed) can be sown for something I want (Harvest).”
To be clear, when Coontz talks about the returns (Harvest) on the investment (Seed), he speaks in almost materialistic terms. Coontz brags about his multi-million dollar condo and the financial windfalls he’s received because he sowed his seed. (Last week a federal jury found Coontz guilty of failing to pay his taxes and filing false tax returns.)
The thing is, when the Bible talks about seeds and harvest, it’s referring to something completely different.
In Matthew 9:37, after viewing the crowds surrounding him, Jesus told his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”
According to Jesus, the “harvest” is the souls of sinners who have repented and submitted to God through faith in Jesus. Later, when speaking of the seed, Jesus is specifically talking about the Word of God. Christians are called to spread the seed (the Word of God—the gospel of Jesus Christ) which, through the power of the Holy Spirit, will bring forth a harvest (sinners turning from their sins and placing their faith in Jesus). In other words, what Todd Coontz means by “seed” and “harvest” is not what the Bible means.
Scam artists have been in existence since Satan took on the form of a serpent in the Garden of Eden. Following in the footsteps of their father the devil, con artists like Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers, and Creflo Dollar are bilking thousands upon thousands of vulnerable and poor people out of their money. Todd Coontz is just another sleazeball telling lies about God and the Bible in order to line his own pockets.
