This may be the worst crime committed by a person who should not be here that I have written about yet, and I hate saying "yet."
Over Labor Day weekend, an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic named Julio Cesar Pimentel Soriano murdered four people in Irondequoit, N.Y.
The victims were father Fraime Ubaldo and mother Marangely Moreno-Santiago. Their two little children, 4-year-old Evangeline Ubaldo-Moreno and 2-year-old Sebastian, were his victims. Their bodies were found in the basement of the house after he set it on fire.
Irondequoit police arrested Soriano Saturday and announced his arrest on Friday but have suggested that there may have been potentially more people involved in the murders and are continuing to hunt them down.
"This was a horrific scene. In almost 32 years of doing this job, I have never seen anything like it... What you do to adults is fine, but when you murder innocent children, there is no excuse for it," said Chief Scott Peters during a September 2 press conference.
Soriano, according to the latest updates, was wanted for a 2019 murder in his native Dominican Republic and was able to illegally enter Puerto Rico, where he obtained a fake New York ID and entered the country at an unknown point.
Chief Peters suggested that Soriano targeted Fraime Ubaldo and his family. Details are coming out incrementally out of sensitivity for the remaining family members, which I understand, given how utterly horrific this crime is.
I'm genuinely depressed just writing about it. What kind of demon murders a family of four with two little kids? What could they have possibly done to deserve this?
I will note that this monster did obtain a fraudulent ID, which is not the same as him crossing the border, getting caught by Border Patrol, and for whatever incomprehensible reason entering the country wherever he wanted. Still, I take some comfort in knowing that at least one of the perpetrators of this evil has been caught and hopefully will never breathe free air again, but the possibility that others may have been involved just makes it worse.
This is not the first time I have written about an illegal alien who murdered a small child (even if Sebastian Ebaldo-Moreno bears the unfortunate title of being the youngest victim I have personally covered). At the end of April, I wrote about the case of Angel Gabriel Cuz-Choc, who stabbed his girlfriend and her four-year-old daughter to death in Dover, Fla. State Attorney Susan Lopez is hoping to get Cuz-Choc the death penalty.
I do not enjoy covering these crimes, especially this latest horror, but I feel it necessary even if it is late because otherwise, people will not understand the real cost in human lives that letting people with little to no vetting into the country inflicts upon us.
And until we crack down hard on illegal immigration, the Ebaldo-Moreno murders will not be an isolated incident.
