Trans People Are So Oppressed That They're Opening the Olympics

I have not really been keeping up with the Olympics that much (mainly because there has been no hype for it). But it has come to my attention that the opening ceremony taking place in Paris is one great big drag show.

Get a load of this stuff that we're seeing all over X:

But remember everybody: trans people and drag queens are just seconds away from being snuffed off the face of the earth by evil rightwing death squads who hate minorities, want women barefoot and pregnant, and want to make us live under a Christofascist (how I loathe that word) dictatorship.

That is what makes the people pushing this stuff more insidious than the residents of the Capitol from Suzanne Collins's "Hunger Games" series, even if the one thing they have in common is that being disgusting, distasteful, bizarre, and gaudy is part of how they demonstrate their power over others.

As far as I remember, the Capitol people in the movies (I did not read the books) never claimed to be victims of the other Districts.

Yet we have seen tons of wailing and gnashing of teeth every time someone objects to letting kids watch (or, worse, participate in) drag shows or saying children should not be prevented from undergoing puberty and pumped full of opposite-sex hormones.

Heck, even something as simple as saying, "You cannot change the 'M' on your driver's license to an 'F' or the other way around" is enough for hysterical reactions, lying down in front of the DMV pretending to be dead, and making comparisons to Nazis forcing Jews to wear armbands with yellow Stars of David.

Yes, that really happened, as I covered back in February when Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) passed a law saying that you cannot change the sex marker on your driver's license.

But to bring this back to the present, this Olympic drag show crap happened just a day after Vice President Kamala Harris announced that she was officially running for President — now that Biden's handlers couldn't keep the "Weekend at Bernie's" routine going on anymore — on RuPaul's Drag Race, which had previously featured child dancers, as my friend Catherine Salgado detailed.

And yes, Kamala somehow managed to coherently say something about how trans people and drag performers are widdle victims of the mean ole conservatives: "Each day we are seeing our rights and freedoms under attack, including the right of everyone to be who they are, love who they love, openly and with pride."

Scroll back up and look at what's going on during the Olympics, an international competition, and try saying Harris's line with a straight face. Go ahead, I dare you.
