Florida recently passed a law prohibiting people from changing their gender on their driver's licenses, saying this constitutes a form of fraud.
Naturally, the transgender crowd is protesting, and of course, they do it in the most hysterical (in both ways), overwrought, and histrionic way possible.
At DMVs/tax collectors across the Sunshine State, people are doing "die-ins" in front of the buildings, as if visiting them could get somehow worse.
No, really, they are lying in front of the DMV holding signs that say things like "killed by the FL DMV/Ron DeSantis," "The Nazis kept track of us too," and "Hitler's steps: 1. Ban books. 2. Identify queer people."
Funny, I thought Hitler primarily targeted Jews with yellow stars, not through their driver's licenses.
But wait, it gets better: Equality Florida said, and I quote: "Equality Florida applauds the grassroots organizers courageously protesting state cruelty at DMV locations across Florida."
Yes, lying on the ground holding signs in front of nobody's favorite place (that people are still shown as visiting without problem) is right up there with getting sprayed by fire hoses and being attacked by police dogs in the '60s during the Civil Rights protests or standing in front of the tanks in Tiananmen Square.
And no, I don't know where they got the idea that not being able to switch the "M" on your driver's license to "F" or the other way around is somehow lethal.
Regardless, the fact that these people seem to sincerely believe that people are going to die for this just says a lot more about them than it does about the new Florida law.
If not being able to change a single piece of information on your driver's license that doesn't even affect your ability to drive somehow makes you suicidal, you need serious mental help. More to the point, you shouldn't be able to drive at that rate.
But sure, the trans genocide is just about to happen or is already happening. In fact, when I come back from Peru, I expect massive piles of trans bodies on I-4 on my way home from the airport.
In all seriousness, this sort of Chicken Little theatricality on the part of the trans lobby for a law that shouldn't be necessary suggests awareness that they are losing the argument, and the people pushing back on their nonsense are winning.
Over 60 studies that the American College of Pediatricians reviewed have come to the same conclusion that "gender-affirming care" does not provide any long-term benefit to patients, and more countries in Europe are realizing the very real harm of putting children on puberty blockers and subjecting them to surgery.

Similarly, people are becoming more aware of just how unsavory some of the people hiding behind the transgender label are and how it has helped them escape justice, such as the recent case of "Maria Childers," who won't receive jail, much less a criminal record, for molesting a baby at a daycare he worked at.
Let's not leave out "Brianna Kingsley," AKA "Zahrah Bri-Zee Muharib," who sued his former partner. Why? The partner threw out Kingsley's amputated testicles he was keeping in the fridge.
Yeah, the influence of the trans lobby cannot go away fast enough.
