That's Mine!: Google Chrome Wants Everything From You

It’s always about the fine print.  Several Google Chrome users spent some time reading the terms of service, rather than just playing with the browser, and what they discovered is very interesting–and alarming.  According to the TOS, Google retains a “perpetual, irrevocable, world-wide, royalty free and non-exclusive” license to any materials users create with the browser. The clause would give Google rights over anything that passed from the browser to the Internet including photos and blog entries without paying a cent.  Spokespeople for the “do no evil” empire claim the legal verbiage was a cut and paste error and they have fixed it.  Oops.

In a related story, TGDaily reporter Humphrey Cheung has been looking over Chrome and noticed that the browser works “too well” He calls Chrome a “security nightmare” after finding that the browser will find and index all kinds of financial data from https sites, including online banking. With a few keystrokes, Cheung claims, the browser can find account numbers, balances and transaction activity. Is it a security flaw or is Chrome working exactly as Google planned? Read more here.
