In case you hadn’t figured this out yet, President Trump is a firm believer in the maxim that the best defense is a good offense. That’s why he’s constantly punching back twice as hard at “resistance”-minded politicians and media personalities — because they are constantly attacking him.
Shhhh — don’t tell the dim-bulb Never Trumpers. They think it’s because Special Counsel Mueller has him cornered and he’s thrashing around like a wild animal. They think “the walls are closing in.”
“It’s not surprising that Donald Trump is increasing his attacks,” Rep. Red Lieu (D-CA) recently said on CNN. “The walls are closing in on him.”
That’s a familiar refrain on CNN and MSNBC, where hosts continue to string their audiences along with the hopeful narrative that Mueller is on the verge of delivering a death blow to the president. Those walls have apparently been on the verge of crushing Trump for the past 14-plus months now.
Via the Washington Free Beacon:
President Trump is said to be a fan of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, so perhaps he has taken this teaching of the Chinese military strategist to heart:
Engage people with what they expect; it is what they are able to discern and confirms their projections. It settles them into predictable patterns of response, occupying their minds while you wait for the extraordinary moment — that which they cannot anticipate.
