Fox News on Sunday confirmed that the Navy is considering charges against the officer who exchanged fire with Mohammod Abdulazeez at the Navy Operational Support Center in Chattanooga last month.
Navy Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White opened fire on the Muslim terrorist who killed four Marines and a sailor in attacks on two military facilities in Chattanooga, TN, on July 16.
Currently, Department of Defense regulations prohibit most service members from being armed on U.S. soil, including most personnel at reserves and recruiting centers like the ones Abdulazeez targeted in Chattanooga. Only law enforcement or service members who are acting as military police are allowed to carry weapons on such properties.
It has not yet been released whether or not any of White’s shots hit Abdulazeez.
On Fox and Friends Sunday morning, Concerned Veterans for America CEO Pete Hegseth expressed disbelief that charges against the hero are being considered.
“We should be pinning a medal on this man’s chest who took decisive action against an Islamist attacker who killed five of his fellow servicemen. Instead – LITERALLY! – the Navy is not ruling out charging this guy with illegal possession of a firearm in a gun-free zone while these guys are being. gunned. down.”
He continued, “the Secretary of the Navy – if he wanted to – could squash this from the top down – No way – this ain’t gonna happen. He’s deciding not to.”

An incensed Lt. Col. Allen West (Ret) broke this story on his blog on Saturday:
Ladies and gents, resulting from the text message I received yesterday, I can confirm that the United States Navy is bringing charges against Lt. Cmdr Timothy White for illegally discharging a firearm on federal property.
The text message asked if it would be possible for Lt.Cmdr White to reach out to me. To wit I replied, affirmative. What kind of freaking idiots are in charge of our Armed Forces — pardon me, our “unArmed Forces”?
Last night, Democratic presidential candidate Jim Webb — a former senator and former secretary of the Navy — tweeted out the same information as Allen West.
Before tweeting last night, we confirmed with a defense official that the Navy was seriously considering charging LCDR Timothy White.

The charge being considered is illegally discharging a firearm on federal property. No on the record comment was offered.

UPDATE:
The Navy is denying reports that disciplinary charges will be filed against Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White for discharging an unauthorized weapon on federal property. The matter, they say, is still being reviewed.
The Chattanoogan reports:
According to a post of Facebook and other social media sites, a statement reads, “Stories of Navy personnel being charges with an offense are not true. There is still a long way to go in reviewing the facts of this tragic incident, but at this time we can confirm no service member has been charged with an offense.”
The fact remains that there are sources in the Navy who are concerned enough about what is going on, they have reached out to people like Allen West, Jim Webb, and members of the media, to claim that charges are being considered.
