If you’re hanging out in Lynwood, California, and have a hankering for fries and pink propaganda, drive on over to WcDonald’s. McDonald’s, you see, has turned its sign upside down to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8.
“Today — and every day — McDonald’s recognizes the extraordinary contribution of women,” McDonald’s spokesperson Mallory Schluter said in a statement. “We have a long history of supporting women in the workplace, giving them the opportunity to grow and succeed. In the U.S. we take pride in our diversity and we are proud to share that today, 6 out of 10 restaurant managers are women.”
The national headquarters will be turning its logo upside down on social media, such as Twitter and Instagram. About a hundred restaurants across the nation will be showing the flipped logo on “packaging, crew shirts and hats and bag stuffers.” The Happy Meal is now woke!

“In celebration of women everywhere, and for the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants,” McDonald’s global chief diversity officer, Wendy Lewis, said. “From restaurant crew and management to our C-suite of senior leadership, women play invaluable roles at all levels, and together with our independent franchise owners, we’re committed to their success.”
I don’t know about you but I’m done with the Ya Ya Sisterhood invading every space with swaths of pink and signs about women’s empowerment. It’s 2018, people, not 1957. We’re awash in women’s empowerment. The feminist movement isn’t even about women. It’s about a progressive ideology that sees men (the ominous Patriarchy) as oppressing women who still haven’t experienced all the utopian glories of being a woman.
In other words, “Life is hard! Whaaa! It must be someone else’s fault!”
After decades of demanding equality, women have it, but they’re not happy. They’re not happy because they don’t have equality of outcome. Their egalitarian utopia hasn’t been reached, and it must be the fault of men who they think control the levers of modern-day society.
Feminism isn’t a movement for women. It’s a fundamentally progressive ideology that demands uniform compliance in the collective quest for a feminized ideal woman, which they claim is hindered by privileged men. Feminists say they’re under siege, but they’re the ones at war with a civil society rooted in the rich traditions of Western culture, which sees people not as warring identity groups but fully integrated human beings in a cosmic battle between good and evil — not a materialistic Marxist struggle between classes.
Feminists think their struggle for human improvement and ideals is a war between women and a misogynist system, that if only they become as powerful as men, the controllers of their own production and therefore their own humanity, they will be truly free of oppression.
It’s all a crock. Life will still be hard. Evil will still be present. People will still feel oppressed, and nature will still crack its impartial whip across our bent and battered backs. Feminists simply refuse to look reality in the face, because they’re lost in idealism.
Just consider this drivel written by a group of feminists in anticipation of March 8. We have “multiple warfronts opened against us,” they whine. But, “We have not cowered. We too have fought back.” That’s right, “Hear me Roar! Fire up those pink torches!”
The #Metoo, #UsToo and #TimesUp campaigns made visible what most women already knew: whether in the workplace or at home, in the streets or in the fields, in prisons or in Ice [sic] detention centers, gender violence with its differential racist impact haunts women’s everyday life. …
#Metoo, #UsToo and #TimesUp have not just exposed individual rapists and misogynists, they have ripped apart the veil that hides the institutions and structures that enable them.
A “system” infected with sexual violence isn’t the only bugaboo on their agenda. There’s also “racialized gender violence.”
US imperialism, militarism and settler colonialism foster misogyny throughout the world. … on 8 March we will go on strike against gender violence – against the men who commit violence and against the system that protects them.
Let’s throw in some free healthcare and better jobs for good measure:
The vast majority of us do not speak out because we lack collective power in our workplace, and are denied social supports such as free health care, outside of it. The job, with its low wage, with its bullying manager and abusive boss, with its long hours, becomes the one thing we fear losing, for it is the only means for providing food for our families and providing care for our sick and infirm.
We do not keep our mouths shut. We are forced to keep our mouths shut by capitalism.
Hear that, WcDonald’s — capitalism oppresses women. Better not make any profits off of those Big Wacs.
As WcDonald’s is cashing in on International Women’s Day like it’s Halloween, feminists are taking to the streets protesting “the economic insecurity” that supposedly silences them.
We will strike because we need social welfare provisions and living wage jobs to feed our families as well as the right to unionize, should we be fired for standing up against their abuse.
We will strike against mass incarceration, police violence and border controls, against white supremacy and the beating drums of US imperialist wars, against poverty and the hidden structural violence that closes our schools and our hospitals, poisons our water and food and denies us reproductive justice.
We will strike for labor rights, equal rights for all immigrants, equal pay and a living wage, because sexual violence in the workplace is allowed to fester when we lack these means of collective defence.
March 8 will be “a day of mobilization of black and brown women, cis and bi, lesbian and trans women workers, of the poor and the low waged, of unpaid caregivers, of sex workers and migrants.”
Who does that leave out? You got it. The great “oppressors” — the White Dude.
Sorry, but I don’t find this kind of economic and social warfare in the name of progressive ideology something to celebrate. I won’t be stopping by WcDonald’s tomorrow. But I might just mosey on over to Chick-fil-A.
