Out of Ideas, Democrats Cling to Epstein as Last Hope

When a political party runs out of ideas, it turns to distractions, and that’s exactly where the Democrats find themselves. Lacking policies that resonate with the American people, they’ve clung to a flimsy Epstein-Trump narrative, hoping to turn it into a political weapon. That effort has not only failed to dent President Trump’s popularity but has also exposed just how little the left has to offer beyond smear campaigns.

After months of pushing the storyline, the Epstein angle fizzled into a dud, yet Democrats have tried to revive it with a fresh round of accusations. Their latest gambit centers on claims of witness tampering following the transfer of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime accomplice, to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas. The move came shortly after Maxwell reportedly met with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, allegedly discussing names tied to Epstein’s sex trafficking network. The decision to place her in a “far preferable and relatively luxurious” facility raised questions, as it appeared to skirt Bureau of Prisons policies that normally block such placements for sex offenders without extensive review.

Leading the charge is Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, along with Committee Democrats, who are demanding answers from Attorney General Pam Bondi and Bureau of Prisons Director William K. Marshall. They insisted that any meetings between Maxwell, the DOJ, and Trump administration officials be recorded to prevent tampering.

Democrats claim that the Trump administration is protecting a key witness and undermining whatever credibility Maxwell had left, which is to say they know as much as the rest of us that that Epstein’s network of powerful connections overwhelmingly includes figures within the Democratic Party, such as Bill Clinton, and are preemptively trying to undermine whatever she might reveal in the future.

But despite the politically charged allegations, these attempts to connect Trump to Epstein’s vile crimes have gone nowhere. The public simply isn’t buying it. As PJ Media previously reported, CNN analyst Harry Enten recently revealed that the Epstein-Trump storyline is a “nothingburger” and “a dud of a story” politically. Google searches for Epstein plummeted by 89% over just three weeks, with the story no longer topping search results linked to Trump. Instead, Americans’ focus shifted to more relevant issues like tariffs and the looming Putin summit.

Polling data further underscores the futility of the Democrats’ crusade. Trump’s approval rating remains rock solid at 44%, virtually unchanged from previous months and well above his approval at the same stage of his first term. Among Republicans, his approval nears an all-time high of around 90%, demonstrating zero erosion of his base. When pollsters ask about the nation’s top concerns, *no* Democrats or independents — and only one Republican — cited the Epstein case, signaling that it has failed to resonate or register as a serious issue.

This failed assault leaves Democrats looking weak, desperate, and out of ideas. Their long-hyped Epstein-Trump connection, which they touted as the silver bullet to take him down, has blown up in their faces, shattering like glass on impact. All their noise and posturing over Epstein has amounted to nothing but a cynical distraction from the uncomfortable truth: they’re out of popular policies, out of political capital, and running out of time.
