Davos: U.S.’s Lutnick Wrecks the ‘Net Zero’ Argument as Fellow Panelists Stare

Get out the popcorn. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick ridiculed Europe for the “net zero” nonsense in a concise and hard-hitting statement that left his fellow panelists stunned.

It is worth watching the clip of Lutnick’s comments purely for the pop-eyed expressions on the faces of the globalists around him, looking as if they have just had the rug pulled out from under them. They are so unaccustomed to hearing any pragmatism or realism on misnamed “green” energy and climate propaganda that they scarcely know what to do when it smacks them in the face.

The theme of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) luxurious Davos 2026 conference this year is supposedly global “dialogue,” which really means that privileged elites from around the world will enjoy the most expensive of vacations in Switzerland while talking about how to ruin their home countries further. Lutnick isn’t impressed. “Globalization has failed the West,” Lutnick said bluntly while on a WEF panel Tuesday.

Lutnick went on, “I viewed the WEF as not a flagpole in the middle, but in fact, they are the flag. Whichever way the wind blew, so it blew — you should have solar, you should have wind. Why are you going to do solar and wind? Why would Europe agree to be net zero in 2030 when they don't make a battery? They don't make a battery.”

He drove home his point: “So if they go [net zero by] 2030, they are deciding to be subservient to China who makes the batteries. Why would you do that? Why would the United States of America, which has oil and natural gas, try to convert to all electricity? China does not have oil and natural gas, electricity and electric cars make perfect sense to them.” As a side note, China is not nearly so dependent on allegedly green energy as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) would like the world to believe, which is why it has built hundreds of coal plants within the last few years.

That aside, it is quite true that solar panels and wind turbines rely heavily on abusive and slave labor in Africa and China, and that the CCP dominates the “green” energy manufacturing industry, including through batteries. We’re talking 80%+ of the global solar panel supply chain alone reliant on China.

Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the United States was preparing to commit energy suicide just like Europe. Indeed, as I noted in May 2024, the Inflation Reduction Act enriched Communist Chinese through “green” tax credits and other measures. Fortunately, the Trump administration is looking to oil, gas, and nuclear power instead.

Green” energy is toxic for the environment, expensive, inefficient, unprofitable, and unreliable. It is a catastrophe from every perspective. Add to that to the facts that carbon is the building block of life and ecosystems thrive upon warming temperatures and increased carbon levels, and you understand why “net zero” really is suicidal.

Good for Lutnick for bringing some hard truths straight to the heart of the globalist, climate alarmist haven at Davos. The polar ice caps aren’t about to melt into nothing, but globalists’ credibility on climate has certainly melted on the scale of an alpine avalanche.
