Multiple bastions of climate alarmism in the media and the academic world are reluctantly admitting that far from killing off the Amazon rainforest, increased carbon dioxide has actually caused the rainforest to thrive more than ever.
Climate alarmism is not based on science or genuine concern for the environment. In fact, many of its “solutions,” like windmills, solar panels, and electric vehicles, are actually toxic to the environment. It was always about control and making people both poorer and less free. Yet precisely because this is an ideological issue rather than a scientific one, it is rare for any leftist mouthpiece of the climate doom cult to admit that, as usual, its predictions were wrong. That is what makes recent articles on the Amazon rainforest’s growth following a Nature Plants 30-year study so interesting.
“The Amazon’s Trees Might Be More Resilient to Climate Change Than We Thought,” the Smithsonian admitted on Sept. 30. “A team of nearly 100 researchers found the average tree size in the massive rainforest has increased by more than 3 percent per decade since the 1970s.” Warming temperatures and increased carbon are actually beneficial to ecosystems, and even some alarmists are having to admit that now. Naturally, the Smithsonian still issued vague and evidence-free prognostications of potential future catastrophe, but this was mere obligatory propaganda, having nothing to do with the facts the institution had to acknowledge.

Phys.org was just as surprised:
Co-author of the study, Professor Beatriz Marimon, from Universidade do Mato Grosso, who coordinated much of the Brazilian data collection in southern Amazonia, commented, "This is a good news story. We regularly hear how climate change and fragmentation is threatening Amazonian forests. But meanwhile, the trees in intact forests have grown bigger; even the largest trees have continued to thrive despite these threats."
The study found that both large and smaller trees have increased in size, consistent with benefiting from fertilization by increased atmospheric carbon dioxide.
Likewise, NBC News, leftist as it is, frankly admitted, “The authors attributed the growth to the rising amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from the burning of gas, oil and coal.” Turns out those eeeevil “fossil fuels” (which is itself a propaganda term) are actually contributing to the Amazon’s health! Who knew, right? Even the radical UK Guardian called the Amazon “climate-resistant” before quickly issuing a warning about those ever imminent but never occurring future catastrophes.
For well over 50 years, climate alarmists have been wildly wrong in every single major prediction. From predicting a new ice age to predicting the ice caps would all melt, from foreseeing the approaching inundation of entire countries to bewailing unprecedented heat and drought, their propaganda has been as inaccurate and contradictory as it was extreme and hysterical.
Now we can add “climate change will kill the Amazon rainforest” to the ever-lengthening list of lies that the doom-sayers screeched at us.
