As California faces a federal suit for providing financial benefits to illegal aliens, three-fourths of Palisades fire victims remain in temporary housing. The Democrats running the state rush to protect and help illegal alien criminals but ignore the crises that their own citizens suffer, including the devastating fire that politicians’ poor decisions greatly exacerbated.
Actions speak louder than words, and Democrats’ actions always scream either “incompetence” or “willful mismanagement” — especially in California. There is one thing you can count on: The Democrats will manufacture crises for their own ends, but totally ignore real crises when they can’t be politically exploited.
Hence, the monetary waste is ongoing in California. In fact, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is challenging California for unconstitutionally providing subsidized loans, in-state tuition, and scholarships for illegal aliens. “California is illegally discriminating against American students and families by offering exclusive tuition benefits for non-citizens,” accused Attorney General Pam Bondi.
It is important to note that California is also facing a budget deficit of $18 billion, so it doesn’t have money for any extra programs — including the estimated $31 billion+ it spends annually of taxpayer money on illegals. California is burying itself in debt to help out foreigners who should never have been here to begin with.

The situation of the Los Angeles fire victims couldn’t be more different. Ironically, the only major project that California Democrats have put in motion, which they claim will help the Palisades fire victims, is also going to spend a lot more taxpayer money that they don’t have. And it is not really going to help the former owners of single-family homes and businesses rebuild.
As I previously reported, while 75% of Palisades residents await a very uncertain future in temporary housing, Gov. Gavin Newsom made a land grab for plots meant for single-family homes and businesses, instead planning low-income government housing. Newsom is sinking $101 million of taxpayer dollars into the housing, which will essentially transform part of the once-prosperous area into a socialist government slum.
At the same time, California Democrats are slow-rolling the rebuild. As of July, for instance, only 31 out of 842 received building permit applications were approved, and only one of the approvals was for the Palisades, according to the Pacific Research Institute. Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass attracted so much bad press that now Bass is faking concern and just approved the first plans for an allegedly faster rebuild of the Palisades. But we’ve heard those empty promises before.
If only the Palisades residents were law-breaking foreigners, they could no doubt get anything they wanted out of Newsom, Bass, and Co. But since they’re only American citizens who lost everything in a natural disaster augmented by politicians’ climate alarmism, and through no fault of theirs, the Palisades residents are abandoned.
