More New York City residents view capitalism favorably than socialism and, by a slim margin, more New Yorkers see socialism specifically in a negative light than in a positive light. That provides hope as Americans worry that one of our greatest cities — and it is a massive, influential, and historic city worth saving — could come under the control of pro-terror Communist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
Republicans, in fact, have a historic moment in our hands, a turning point, as Charlie Kirk would say. If they would fund and support more get-out-the-vote campaigns such as Scott Presler’s that was so wildly successful in Pennsylvania, if they would emphasize the massive contrast between the right and the left, the murder of Charlie Kirk and the ghoulish glorification of it by Democrats, and the radical Marxism of Mamdani, even in New York City it could make a difference.
Who thought Trump would sweep all the swing states, or that a Kennedy would join the Trump administration, or that hundreds of thousands of American college students on the most woke campuses would mourn a conservative debater? Stranger miracles have happened.
A new Fox News poll found that 48% of New Yorkers view capitalism positively, while 40% of New Yorkers view capitalism unfavorably.
Socialism was slightly less popular, with 41% of New Yorkers reporting a favorable view – including 15% who have a strongly positive opinion of socialism. However, more New Yorkers have an unfavorable view of socialism, with 44% reporting an unfavorable opinion of socialism, including 29% with a strongly negative perspective.
The data is hardly ideal, but it does hold out hope as the threat of Mamdani looms.

Mamdani smeared the police, labeling them “evil” and “racist” and “anti-queer,” and endorsing their defunding. He also advocated imposing socialist programs on New York City.
Being a socialist, Mamdani rejects private property. “My platform is that every single person should have housing, and I think faced with these two options, the system has hundreds of thousands of people unhoused, right? For what?” Mamdani said. “If there was any system that could guarantee each person housing, whether you call it the abolition of private property or you call it, you know, just a statewide housing guarantee, it is preferable to what is going on right now.”

Mamdani’s father defended Islamic suicide bombers, and Zohran has carried on that legacy by calling to boycott Israel, crediting his pro-Hamas fervor with bringing him to socialist ideology, threatening to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and accepting money from the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Then there’s the allegation he was probably dishonest on his mandatory financial disclosures.
If Mamdani takes over NYC, it will be curtains for one of our greatest cities. But there is just the possibility Mamdani could lose, if he and his policies are fully exposed for what they are. That polling data gives us the hope.
