Donald Trump has once again called out the all-around awful consequences of trying to rely on windmills and solar panels, and he couldn’t be more right.
“Green” energy is a massive misnomer, as windmills and solar panels kill wildlife, disrupt ecosystems, and damage huge swathes of land and ocean. Since they are also inefficient, unreliable, and expensive, it’s no wonder Trump slammed the “stupidity” of Democrats who love “green” energy.
Trump posted on Wednesday on Truth Social, “Any State that has built and relied on WINDMILLS and SOLAR for power are seeing RECORD BREAKING INCREASES IN ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY COSTS. THE SCAM OF THE CENTURY! We will not approve wind or farmer destroying Solar. The days of stupidity are over in the USA!!! MAGA.”
Energy experts, including Harvard scientists and Heartland Institute president James Taylor, estimated that, to switch America entirely to “green” energy, “We would have to cover literally one-third of the entire American landmass with wind turbines to replace conventional electricity generation.” Taylor added that electrifying vehicles would require “literally one-half of our landmass covered by wind turbines.” Think about the idiocy of that — and how Democrats said that’s exactly what they wanted to do, switch entirely to “green” energy.

Then there are the deleterious effects of the windmills and solar panels. Last year, for instance, a coalition of fishing organizations warned that a planned offshore wind farm, set to occupy millions of acres, would disrupt marine life migrations, destroy habitats, and kill whales through the disruptive sonar blasting.
Trump was also right to note the harm to farmland. As Junk Science’s Steve Milloy said during a 2024 media call, farmland can be “permanently destroyed.” He elaborated: “The concrete … foundations that go in for the solar panels and the wind turbines, how are those ever going to come out? Who’s going to do that work? Who’s going to pay for it? You can take down the turbines, but what are you going to do about the foundations? I mean, that farmland is ruined.” Not to mention that windmills and solar panels kill millions of birds and bats.

Solar panels and electric vehicle batteries are highly toxic to manufacture and dispose of, and they rely on mining and manufacturing via slave labor and child labor in Africa and China.
“Green” energy is inefficient and impractical. In Joliet, Ill., 30 electric trucks would have required more power than the whole city (population 150,000+), according to The Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, the Heritage Foundation warned that wind turbines “are running at maximum power only about 35% of the time.” That’s hardly ideal.
Then there’s the fact that wind and solar are expensive and unprofitable, which is why they can’t survive without the government subsidies Trump is axing. Heritage explained last year:
In a study published on Joule, wind plants were found to have a significant decline in performance in their 10th year, just as they lose their eligibility for the production tax credit.
There are no benefits to wind and solar, just a whole lot of negatives. Good for Trump for rejecting the lies.
