Woke leftists’ green energy goals are neither achievable nor practical, and they would require the complete destruction of a huge portion of America’s land, a literal environmental disaster, completely undermining the argument that they are “environmentally friendly.”
The wind turbines and solar panels falsely named “green” energy added to electric vehicles (EVs) would require about half of all U.S. land to provide the basic electricity now provided by more reliable and inexpensive energy sources, according to Heartland Institute president James Taylor in a recent media call.
Fellow climate experts Steve Milloy and CO2 Coalition’s Greg Wrightstone agreed with Taylor’s assessment, explaining just how permanently devastating “green” energy is to the land and ocean on/over which it is constructed. Indeed, it’s suicidal for America even to plan such a switch, as countries like China are building more coal plants and ensuring that their reliable energy supply will increase instead of decrease.
Taylor explained that scientists at Harvard University — individuals who voted to express their belief in a “climate crisis,” making them anything but biased against “green” energy — tried to do an honest assessment of the land required for the leftist-pushed switch from reliable energy to “green” energy for the U.S. electric grid. Their findings were shocking. “We would have to cover literally one-third of the entire American landmass with wind turbines to replace conventional electricity generation.”
But it gets worse. “If we electrify vehicles,” Taylor continued, “which, of course, is the big push from the Biden administration and climate activists, that would then have to be literally one-half of our landmass covered by wind turbines.” It’s ironic that environmentalists went from being conservationists to aggressively demanding a third to a half of U.S. land be ruined to put up turbines and solar panels, as Taylor noted. And, of course, whole ecosystems are thereby put at risk. “If we were to switch over to this green energy transition, we would be looking at the single greatest environmental catastrophe that has ever occurred,” Taylor added.
Forests, plains, and all U.S. ecosystems would be at risk. We know from the millions of birds (and now possibly dozens of whales) killed by wind turbines and solar panels that “green” energy can be deadly for local wildlife. Imagine that exponentially multiplied! As the three experts on the call agreed in statements that I previously covered, there is no climate crisis and moderate global warming is actually helpful for ecosystems, causing them to thrive. There’s no need and no good reason to switch to falsely labeled “green” energy.

Wrightstone chimed in to note that habitat loss is the greatest threat to endangered species, something with which climate alarmists agree. Yet these same climate alarmists would advocate for “tens of thousands of miles” of habitat to be taken up with wind turbines? Milloy described this contradictory attitude: “Saving the planet now means destroying it.”
Wind and solar ensure that land is “permanently destroyed,” Milloy continued. “The concrete … foundations that go in for the solar panels and the wind turbines, how are those ever going to come out? Who’s going to do that work? Who’s going to pay for it? You can take down the turbines, but what are you going to do about the foundations? I mean, that farmland is ruined.”
The Biden administration is also permitting offshore wind farm construction that could kill “more than twice as many [endangered right whales] as are thought to exist,” Milloy concluded.
As I stated above, and as the experts also pointed out, Asian countries including Communist China and India are building more coal plants even as Western nations sabotage their grid with foolish and harmful “green” energy projects. The wind and solar idiocy needs to stop now before America truly has “the single greatest environmental catastrophe that has ever occurred” on its hands.
