How do you destroy the freest and bravest nation on earth? By training the citizens to prioritize safety over freedom and making them gradually complacent and passive.
The late, great Fulton J. Sheen, the Catholic archbishop and wildly popular television personality of the mid-20th century, once said, “Too many people get credit for being good, when they are only being passive. They are too often praised for being broadminded when they are so broadminded they can never make up their minds about anything.”
Sheen also warned us about the danger of professing brave, noble, and virtuous principles, but not actually living up to them in our daily lives: “If you don’t behave as you believe, you will end by believing as you behave.” If you say you are pro-life, but vote for abortion, or if you say that you admire America’s military heroes, but cower in silence whenever your boss ridicules America and her heroes, you are not behaving as you believe. But you will probably gradually come to profess the views with which your actions acquiesce.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.) provides a good example — he says he is pro-Israel, yet when Democrats as a party decided to vote against a standalone aid bill for Israel, he went their way. He helped ensure that aid for Israel had to include aid for the jihad-loving, genocidal Gazans. When it came down to the wire, he “defied” his party in words, but not in actions.
The Democrats are the party of false propaganda that covers opposite action, but Republicans have long been the party of empty promises, of grand campaign vows that they never intend to fulfill (like Mike Johnson with his vow not to increase government size and spending, only to push the Biden budget). In fact, the reason many GOP establishment politicians dislike Donald Trump so much is that he actually tries to accomplish campaign promises. He challenges bureaucracy, complacency, and broad-mindedness. How dare he challenge the status quo!!
Like Sheen, GK Chesterton warned us, “Do not be so open-minded that your brains fall out.” Sadly, we in America have trained our young people to be so open-minded that their brains fall out. They scream genocidal chants like “from the river to the sea” without ever bothering to ask which river and which sea. They hysterically wail that climate change will destroy the planet, without ever bothering to notice that climate alarmists have been wrong on every single major prediction for more than 50 years. They blindly believe that America is the most evil country on earth and, simultaneously, that America is such a wondrous and wealthy paradise that it is our obligation to entertain every illegal alien who desires to partake of our benefits. Make it make sense.

We need America to return to the courageous and truth-centered spirit of the Founding Fathers, make our actions fit our words, and ensure that we are not fooling ourselves into believing we are good because we are passive.
