Planned Parenthood is literally making a sacrament of abortion.
A prayer guide found on PlannedParenthood.org ,40 Days of Prayer Supporting Women Everywhere , encourages pro-abortion supporters to offer prayers of “thanks for abortion providers” and the “sacred care” they provide.
Each day, Planned Parenthood suggests a prayer, for example:
· “We give thanks for the doctors who provide quality abortion care.”
· We pray for a cloud of gentleness to surround every abortion facility.”
· We pray for all the staff at abortion clinics around the nation. May they be daily confirmed in the sacred care that they offer women.”
Some of the prayers, like those above, are for the abortionists. Others are for all “women to access . . . abortion,” and one is to “give thanks and celebrate that abortion is still safe and legal.”
Still other prayers are against pro-life advocates. They pray that women on the way to have an abortion would be “shielded” from the lifesaving message of pro-life sidewalk counselors and “give thanks for abortion escorts who guide women safely through the hostile gauntlets of protesters.” In another, “we pray for women who have been made afraid of their own power [of choice, i.e. abortion] by their religion. May they learn to reject fear and live bravely.”
One of the most outrageous of these pro-abortion prayers actually urges people to “pray for the families we’ve chosen. May they know the blessing of choice.” What about the babies who weren’t “chosen”?
Here is a screen shot of Planned Parenthood’s 40 Days of Prayer brochure. It’s one of the sunniest, most repulsive things I’ve ever seen.
The number 40 recurs throughout the Bible associated with significant times. Noah’s ark rode the flood for 40 days and nights, and Exodus 24-31 says Moses spent 40 days and nights on Sinai before God handed down the Ten Commandments (one of which clearly prohibits murder) and the plans for the ark of the covenant and the tabernacle. The Israelites would spend 40 years wandering the wilderness before entering and taking it. Christ spent 40 days and nights praying in the wilderness before overcoming Satan’s temptation. So the number 40 is important and clearly drawn from the Bible, but the Clergy for Choice skipped over the commandment regarding murder, which is also associated with Moses’ 40 days and nights on the mountain. An interesting choice.
Look over on the left side of the graphic, at some of the things these folks are actually praying for. On Day 35: “Today we pray for girls everywhere, that they may have every opportunity for education, sport, health, art and vocation.”
It’s hard to do any of that when you’re prevented from being born. Note also the absence of praying for girls to have families.
On Day 38: “Today we pray for a cloud of gentleness to surround every abortion facility. May everyone feel calm and loving.”
But you kill that thing that’s in the womb.
And then there’s Day 40: “Today we give thanks and celebrate that abortion is still safe and legal.”
They have dropped the Clintonian pretense of making it rare.
Update: PJM called up the Humboldt Planned Parenthood to ascertain the brochure’s authenticity. It is for real.
I just called them, asking them if it was authentic. “Why? Huh?” They replied.
PJM: Authentic, yes. It looked so absurd I thought it might be a spoof trying to make Planned Parenthood look bad. Is it authentic?
Humboldt Planned Parenthood: Yes, is authentic.
PJM: Like the prayer to end stigma against women who have abortions, does that sound like we are talking about the same thing?
Humboldt: Yes, that’s it.
PJM: Do you think women who have abortions SHOULD be entirely free from stigma?
Humboldt: I’m not going to answer that.
