Colorado’s Republican senator went on a Twitter tear against Donald Trump tonight, suggesting he’d have a tough time tackling ISIS or Russian President Vladimir Putin if he can’t comprehend convention rules.
Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), who endorsed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and served in the state’s House of Representatives for several years before ascending to Congress, unseated incumbent Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) in the last midterm elections.
Gardner began his tweetstorm by lauding Colorado GOP Chairman Steve House for “a fair and well run convention.”
If you can’t figure out the Colorado GOP delegate process how can you figure out how to balance the national budget?

.@tedcruz showed up to the @cologop convention. @realDonaldTrump only sent a surrogate. Cruz swept. Elections are won by those who show up. — Cory Gardner (@CoryGardner) April 12, 2016
Darryl Glenn came out of nowhere to win @cologop convention for US Senate. That should be the story. Not @realDonaldTrump‘s temper tantrum.

I’ve attended CO GOP conventions for years. It requires organization & attn to grassroots to win. Cruz had it. Trump didn’t. End of story. — Cory Gardner (@CoryGardner) April 12, 2016
Trump protested the Colorado primary process, tweeting, “The people of Colorado had their vote taken away from them by the phony politicians. Biggest story in politics. This will not be allowed!”
Colorado GOP voters picked their delegates at precinct caucuses on March 1. Those delegates were swept up by Cruz at Saturday’s convention.
Trump retweeted a suggestion that he hold a massive protest rally in Colorado and a video of a man who said he was a state delegate burning his party registration in his kitchen.
This is happening all over our country—great people being disenfranchised by
politicians. Repub party is in trouble! https://t.co/wNXRqVl9Uu— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 11, 2016
