After much thought, prayer, and discussion with Wendy and our kids, I’ve decided to run for Governor of #Louisiana in 2015.

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) is bucking to replace Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal when the 42-year-old chief executive is term-limited out of office.
“I believe that as our next governor I can have a bigger impact addressing the unique challenges and opportunities that we face in Louisiana,” Vitter said in a video announcing his candidacy, promising it will be his “last political job, elected or appointed. Period.”
He wouldn’t have to run for his Senate seat again until fall 2016, which means he can concentrate on a 2015 gubernatorial campaign without forfeiting his seat.
Vitter’s Senate career survived a 2007 sex scandal after he was revealed to be one of the D.C. Madam’s clients. He won his 2010 re-election campaign with 57 percent of the vote.
The 52-year-old senator is currently the top Republican on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
Potential challenger’s for Jindal’s seat include Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu.
