Chronicling the ongoing intersectional struggle to liberate women — inclusively defined as the legacy kind and transgender individuals — from the Patriarchy™, one microaggression at a time.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul to give hookers $2.5 million in free healthcare

For young, empowered female professionals in New York considering becoming hookers, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul just sweetened the deal with an all-inclusive healthcare package, including dental, for “sex workers” (otherwise known as prostitutes) — benefits that regular non-prostitutes working the cash register at Walmart could never hope for.

Via New York Post (emphasis added):

Gov. Kathy Hochul has quietly extended a pilot program providing free healthcare to sex workers – with taxpayers footing the nearly $2.5 million bill.

The state Health Department in 2023 awarded $1 million in public funds to two contractors as part of Hochul’s plan to help the “world’s oldest profession,” but new documents reviewed by The Post show the program extending through June 2028, with $1.5 million more in costs.

Under the initiative, sex workers in NYC and the Buffalo area will continue to receive primary, sexual, behavioral, and dental care

Hookers seeking to deal with hazards of the trade by having abortions or taking pills for sexually transmitted diseases and birth control can easily get free assistance through health clinics for these services and don’t need a health care plan…

As part of the pilot program, Callen-Lorde and EHS Inc./Evergreen Health will continue to receive yearly payments of $250,000 to provide sex workers access to medical care via the Health Department’s AIDS Institute.

The original deal expired last year, but the Health Department put out a legal notice in September saying “additional time is needed to evaluate the program.”

The vendors received the extra work without competitive bidding because it “was not feasible in this instance*,” the notice said.

*Obviously, facilitating healthcare services catering specifically to the needs of streetwalkers is very niche, so the no-bid contract is sort of understandable in this instance.

At any rate, bid or no-bid, we can count on the funds to be used appropriately, for the benefit of the hookers and society at large.

Conscientious use of taxpayer funds, after all, is the hallmark of Democrat governance.

Why not just go the extra mile and give them 401(k)s?

A serious logistical question I have is: How does the state, or the agency funded by the state, vet people claiming to be prostitutes to determine if that’s what they actually are?

I can imagine a lot of desperate people who need their insulin refilled or a root canal or whatever, who can’t otherwise afford it, simply strapping some fishnets on, slapping on some lipstick, practicing their thousand-yard PTSD stare, and walking into the office to claim their bennies.

On a deeper philosophical level, what even is the objective definition of “prostitute”?

As anyone who has witnessed 60-year-old Western men dating 20-year-old Thai women from impoverished rice-farming families in Isaan — or analogs of the same phenomenon anywhere else — understands, there’s some gray area there, definitionally.

One could be forgiven, even, for accusing politicians who service their donors with a slave-like obedience in exchange for campaign cash, like Kathy Hochul, of engaging in a form of prostitution.

Not me, obviously — I respect Democracy™ — but someone might conflate politicians with shameless streetwalking whores.
