Let’s begin this sordid tale with a brief review of the timeline to figure out how we got here:
- Morning Joe and his sidekick, Mika, jettison their longtime friendship with Donald Trump in 2016 after the liberal ruling class decides that he is the second coming of Hitler.
- They then spend eight straight years, five days a week, on national television calling him a Nazi.
- In 2024, in spite of their constant bad-faith attacks, the Bad Orange Man wins (again, for the third time).
- As Morning Joe promised would happen if Trump reclaimed the White House, Democracy™ is now over and the trains are just getting fired up to ferry minorities away to death camps where work will set them free.
- After all that, while the Holocaust Part Deux unfolds before horrified liberal eyes, these two sociopaths go and bend the knee for tea and crumpets with Hitler on the eve of his literal fascist takeover.
- The people they’ve been telling daily that Trump is an existential threat to life itself are predictably upset that Joe and Mika are brunching with a fascist and sunning themselves beside his fascist pool.
- They appear to struggle to understand why the enormous backlash unfurls itself upon them.

For damage control purposes, Mika made an appearance on “The Daily Beast Podcast” recently to explain things to the disconcerted upper-middle-class liberal wine moms who comprise the entirety of their small and dwindling audience.
Via The Daily Beast (emphasis added):
Mika Brzezinski isn’t one to shy away from controversy—or a headline. In her first interview since news of her recent visit to meet Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, the Morning Joe host addressed what happened at her and co-host Joe Scarborough’s meeting with the president-elect, the media backlash and her unapologetic approach to tough conversations: “It’s my job to talk to people I disagree with—or even feel threatened by,” she said on this week’s episode of The Daily Beast Podcast, emphasizing the need for face-to-face dialogue in today’s political climate. “I would never turn down an opportunity to gain insight or information, never.”
Brzezinski credited her upbringing—during which fiery family debates were common—and referenced lessons learned from her father*, the late Zbigniew Brzezinski, who served as President Jimmy Carter’s National Security Advisor.
*Nothing screams “integrity” like hiding behind Daddy’s legacy to excuse your blasphemy against liberal orthodoxy.
She goes on to explain that, in fact, the important people all approve of her Mar-a-Lago workcation; it was just the online rabble who had a problem:In these fraught times, I do think that we are in an environment… where everyone is talking at each other, at cameras…. And I do believe, and this doesn’t just apply to Donald Trump, it applies to anybody… that it’s time to start talking face to face… I’ve actually been really surprised at the reaction. I’ve heard from a lot people… people that I respect a great deal, leaders, people I don’t usually hear from who are really powerful who just wanted to let me know that that was the right thing to do… And then I have seen… the very opposite happening online. Some of it is part of the problem I’m talking about right now. I’ve heard from reporters by reading about myself and none of them ever called me. That’s a problem. So, in part, it is a way of trying to do things differently.

Grasping at straws throughout, she goes on to blame the outrage at her and Joe’s behavior on people being “scared” about another Trump presidency.
All that said, the admittedly hyperbolic headline I used is unfair in that these people are not stupid but are, in fact, savants in the very narrow skillset of fellating power; they understand well how the legacy corporate media game gets played, as they have been at its apex for many years.
They clearly thought long and hard about how to frame their ass-kissing safari down to Florida and settled on “we have to talk to our enemies” — mind you, after years of demonizing Trump for doing exactly that with Kim Jong Un and Putin.
The problem they had is that there really isn’t a good answer because it’s immediately obvious to anyone paying half-attention what is going on, which is a craven power play of the basest and most ignominious sort.
