A recent survey by Rasmussen, published by the Napolitan Institute, found an outlandish percentage of Democrat respondents would very much approve of, or at least shrug their shoulders at, a successful Trump assassination.
Matt Margolis covered this for PJ Media yesterday.
The essential findings, via Napolitan Institute (emphasis added):
The desensitization of some Americans following the second assassination attempt of former President Trump is alarming...
That figure includes 28% of Democrats who say that America would have been better off if Trump had been assassinated. Another 24% of Democrats were not sure. …
Despite two assassination attempts in two months, just over half of all Democrats (51%) don’t see a need to increase Trump’s security detail.
This is obviously a very stupid and reckless set of opinions to have — even for a Democrat who actively despises Trump and wishes him ill but cherishes his own life.
A successful killing would invariably, no matter what contingencies are considered, produce widescale mass political violence, economic calamity, and, in all likelihood, irrevocable disintegration of civil society. We literally came a millimeter away from the end of the American experiment in July.
They must have met some Trump supporter at some point; they must know these people have guns, already massively distrust and even hate the government for good reason, and they’re not just going to let their leader take a headshot without some serious retaliation.
And this poll is not an outlier in terms of Democrat opinions or rhetoric.
Highly influential Congressman Jamie Raskin, in a criminally underreported story, announced a few months ago that he and his colleagues would use the 14th Amendment to try to prevent Trump from taking office — even in the event he wins the election.
Via The Federalist (emphasis added):
If you listen to U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., the real insurrection will be led by Democrats and it will begin on Jan. 6, 2025 — should the American people dare to elect former President Donald Trump president again.
In a video clip making the rounds Monday on social media, the far left firebrand laments what he characterizes as a lazy U.S. Supreme Court interfering with the Democratic Party’s plan to interfere with the 2024 election.
“And so [the court] want to kick it to Congress, so it’s going to be up to us on Jan. 6, 2025 to tell the rampaging Trump mobs that he’s disqualified,” Raskin said in a panel discussion on Feb. 17, as the Supreme Court was mulling the constitutionality of the leftist Colorado secretary of state’s use of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to remove Trump from the state’s presidential primary ballot.
“And then we need bodyguards for everybody and civil war conditions all because nine justices — not all of them, but these justices who have not many cases to look at every year, not much work to do, have a huge staff, great protection — simply do not want to do their job and interpret what the great 14th Amendment means,” Raskin declared at a Washington, D.C. bookstore gathering of self-important leftists.

Clearly, MAGA would not tolerate such a brazen usurpation of the power of the state to subvert the democratic will of the people. War would surely ensue in such a scenario, as Raskin himself concedes.
Furthermore, we also now have bona fide political prisoners in these United States — a phenomenon once confined to Third World despots and the communist regimes of yesteryear.
Hundreds of nonviolent Capitol tourists are rotting in federal prison, including my friend, grandmother, Karen Jones.

All of which begs the question: how much more abuse will Americans tolerate from the Democrats and their Deep State sponsors? This isn’t to cheerlead civil war; it’s a sober analysis of cause and effect.
Where things go post-November is entirely up in the air, but it definitely doesn’t look good no matter how the election turns out.
