Daily Doonesbury Going on Hiatus

The Sunday strips will continue, however:

Beginning March 3, the daily strip will go on indefinite hiatus as creator Garry Trudeau focuses on his Amazon online comedy “Alpha House.”

“Alpha House,” starring John Goodman, is a political satire about four Republican senators sharing a house in Washington. It just completed its first season and was renewed.

“To my delight, Amazon Studios has recently decided to move forward with another season of ‘Alpha House,’ ” Trudeau said in a press release. “It’s a wonderful opportunity, but as I discovered last year, the demands of producing the show are considerable, and my efforts to return to the daily strip while we were still in production had to be abandoned.”

Honestly, I had no idea Doonesbury was still going at all. The strip has become so irrelevant that I haven’t even heard it discussed by anyone in years. The only exception was reading a couple Apple histories on the Mac’s 30th birthday last month, a couple of writers mentioned Doonesbury’s jokes at the expense of the Apple Newton’s flawed handwriting input. And those strips were from 1993.

That’s a lot of years.

Haven’t watched Alpha House at all. Anyone know if it’s worth actively ignoring, or should I just keep on passively ignoring it?
