From NRO.

Asked about the possibility of impeaching President Obama, Ted Cruz did not rule it out.

In a question and answer session following a speech he gave at a Montgomery County GOP dinner last night, an audience member asked Cruz, “Why don’t we impeach him [Obama]?”

“It’s a good question,” Cruz responded, “and I’ll tell you the simplest answer: To successfully impeach a president you need the votes in the U.S. senate.”

He noted that the Democrats controlled the Senate currently.

Whether you are in the impeachment camp or not (I’m not), it’s the mere fact that Cruz says things like this at all that makes him awesome. He’s not there to be liked, he is there to make a difference and doesn’t care if anyone’s feelings get hurt along the way.

More, please.

I didn't know that Cruz was supporting cutting off aid to Egypt, but maybe it has something to do with it being the law?

Unlike Obama, Ted Cruz believes that laws, even those he disagrees with, should be enforced.

I am in favor of impeachment. An elected official does not have to break laws, they just have to show that they are incompetent and unfit for the office.

Democrats and Establicans constitute a united caucus in the Senate, easily enough to convict if, say, a President Palin were on trial.

Republicans running the Senate during Clinton's impeachment trial deliberately wrote the rules of procedure to make conviction next to impossible.

I am no fan of impeachment, but how else do we revoke the executive usurpation of power perpetrated by this administration? He is establishing precedents which will forever transform the fundamental nature of our system of checks and balances. But an attempt to impeach that fails would be even worse than no impeachment at all, so Cruz's answer is spot on.

I like that there were no "excuses" in the answer.... Just the facts.

I have really been impressed with Ted Cruz so far....but, why is he supporting cutting off aid to the Egyptian military? They are the only people on earth fighting the mooslim bruthahood. If we allow Egypt to fall into the Putin-Chicom-Iran sphere of influence, then we truly are the stupidest "superpower" the world has ever seen. I wish he would explain his position.
