On the night of February 26, 2012, an altercation between two men in Sanford, FL, left one of them dead. After the deadly encounter, Sanford police took the lone survivor in, questioned him, weighed the evidence, and concluded that he had killed the other man in self-defense. The police released him and identified the two participants in the incident: Trayvon Martin, 17, who had been killed, and George Zimmerman, 28, who had fired the shot that killed Martin. Sanford police soon come under assault in the media for mishandling the case. Before long, Washington gets involved.

From Feburary 29 to March 8, 2012, nothing much happens in the case. On March 8, though, the case gained national momentum when Tracy Martin, father of Trayvon, holds a press conference calling on Sanford police to arrest Zimmerman and charge him with murder. Two days later, on March 10, the Martin family gathered at the Sanford Police Department to urge police again to arrest and charge Zimmerman. Three days later, on the 13th, the Martin family asks Sanford police to release the 911 call from the night of the shooting. On March 16, Sanford police comply with that request and the 911 call from George Zimmerman to dispatchers is released. Zimmerman is heard on the recording telling the dispatcher about an unknown man walking through the gated residential community in the rain. Zimmerman tells the dispatcher that based on his experience as a neighborhood watchman, the unknown man appears to be up to “no good.” The community had been plagued by break-ins. Zimmerman says that the troublemakers always get away.

Releasing the 911 call, it turns out, is the pivotal moment in events after the shooting. Had the mainstream media handled the 911 call responsibly, there is every reason to believe that George Zimmerman would not be standing trial right now and the nation would not be worrying that the outcome of his trial might cause race riots.

The mainstream media did not handle that call responsibly, at all. Instead of airing the call as it was made on the night of February 26, NBC News deceptively edited it to make it appear that Zimmerman targeted Martin because the teen was black. The image of a race-based killing now solidified, it’s only a matter of time before the so-called “post-racial” president and his allies turn Martin’s death into a usefully divisive racial political football, in a presidential election year.

The damage from that false edit was only beginning. NBC News plays its false 911 call edit on the Today show and its other properties. The New York Times on March 22 calls Zimmerman a “white Hispanic.”   The rest of the media amplify the false racial narrative. ABC News releases a video purporting to show no wounds on Zimmerman at all, and later admits “error” while releasing a video clearly showing wounds and blood on Zimmerman’s head consistent with his self-defense story. At every step of the way, mainstream media “mistakes” and “errors” have consistently built up the false narrative that Zimmerman targeted Martin and killed him because he was black.

The media successfully fabricate the “armed white adult versus unarmed black teen narrative,” and soon enough the zeitgeist turns decisively against Zimmerman. The FBI and Justice Department announce that they are opening investigations into the shooting on March 19.  Reverend and MSNBC host Al Sharpton holds a rally on March 22 in Sanford demanding “justice” and reportedly 10,000 show up. In Sharpton’s rally, NBC News and its properties have clearly crossed the line from dishonest journalism to open one-sided advocacy. Two days later, the race hustle is well and truly on, as Rev. Jesse Jackson arrives in central Florida to join Sharpton in calling for “justice.” On March 23, President Barack Obama weighs in, scolding America to engage in “soul-searching” while saying that if he had a son, he would probably have looked like Trayvon Martin. Obama’s remarks, delivered in the Rose Garden at the White House, elevate the shooting past the point of no return. Charges against Zimmerman are inevitable, lest Republican-controlled Florida face the Holder Justice Department and a full-frontal media assault. At this point, the media and race hustlers are sparing no quarter. Taxpayer-funded PBS simply calls Zimmerman “white” on April 10 in a segment hosted by Gwen Ifill, who is black.

"Threats of race riots hang not just over central Florida, but the entire country, if the jury acquits Zimmerman."

It's ironic that the reckless actions of the President and his infamous comments which contribute to this scenario could lead to severe damage for his native riding of Chicago. Guaranteed that South side gang members will not be civil, and will most likely unleash their rage on other parts of the city, coordinating in affluent neighborhoods so as not to damage their own. Note that for the Rodney King riots in 1992, people in Toronto, Canada also rioted in response to the verdict. Hoodlums will be emboldened and inspired by media reports, and now they have the connective power of social media.

Mr. Preston: The legacy media is no longer mainstream. It should be called the 'mass media.' I also think that for a while the media thought Zimmerman was Jewish because of the name. So for them it would have been a two-fer: White and Jewish. Instead, it was no-fer: Hispanic and Chrisitian. The other thing the media kept doing was showing Martin as this angelic 12 year old in contrast to Zimmerman as an adult, and that prejudiced the case further.
I have also found out how the gun got to be used, thanks to Andrew Branca's wonderful reporting at Legal Insurrection. Zimmerman had refrained from using it while being beaten by Martin. It was not until Martin reached for the gun to kill Zimmerman that Zimmerman got it out, and after apparently struggling for it, got control of it and shot Martin. That is clearly self-defense, in the true meaning of the term. The judge should have provided a directed verdict, given the evidence at this point. The judge though seems to be very biased for the prosecution. We can only hope that the jury will come back with a not-guilty verdict.

Greetings:

While the mainstream media has certainly earned its infamy in the Zimmerman case, an equally large responsibility rests with the functionaries of the State of Florida who went along with the rising civil rights industry tide. My fear is that they will, once again, suffer no ill results from their "the process is the punishment" venture. Virtually nameless and ensconced in their various sinecures, they will learn nothing from the failure of their malfeasance except, perhaps, to let someone else make the decisions next time.

At the Federal level, it is more than disturbing that US Attorney General Eric Holder of "My people", New Black Panther, and "nation of cowards" history can insert his biased thinking and legal authorities into a situation that is so obviously a state matter.

THIS IS what is meant by unaccountable power. People unlimiited in the powers they use, honourably or otherwise.

THE Model for creation as alternative to a criminal and corrupt government. Alternative called Cosa Nostra, known to us as MAFIA.
Become now the model for corrupt government, including MEDIA in this USA aka "A Country of Law". Of LAW NOT of lawyers OR Media pundits...

Unaccountable operative with the Monopoly of delivery of the products. Those in charge of the Media Institutions the CAPOs since invention of radio up to and including Television.

RESPECT required and given by any who CAN if they know what's good for them. We The People providing RESPECT to their special fictions by providing the money for favoured gangs of print and TV Media.. AND their protectors in Legislature, Judiciary and Executive of government.

So George Zimmerman as the most recent sacrificial example to yet another display of their unlimited power.

In a nation with a social contract called THE Constitution. That contract that LIMITS powers of the operators of government/law institutions to do just what they are now and have been doing for some decades. WITHOUT accountability of individuals of or the institutions themselves..

Limits DEPENDENT on individuals within the institutions who honour the limits to their powers. Men and women who honour more than their careeer paths and aspirations to personal fortune.

Held individually and instititutionally accountable to the individuals they injure iin the pursuiit of their aims. And by extension ot the body politic.

What happened to the first TV interview w/Martin's girlfriend? She either had a cellphone message from Martin or repeated her conversation w/Martin. In any event, Martin knew he was being followed and told his gf that he was going to make the 'cracker' pay. From this first interview it was clear that: 1) Martin attacked Zimmerman; 2) Martin was the first one to play the race card. Later on, his gf was then put in the impossible position of supporting the 'Martin is a victim' story (and, thus, perjuring herself) or telling the truth (and, thus, becoming a victim of the black community). This is why her testimony was so confusing.

" Martin’s mother testified that she hears her son screaming for help on the 911 recordings of the fight. But other witnesses testified that the voice belongs to Zimmerman. Testimony about the 911 calls, then, is a wash."

What stupid analysis. The eyewitness and forensic (gunshot) evidence is that Martin was on top. The person on top isn't the one yelling for help. Neither Martin's father or brother thought it was Trayvon yelling for help when they first heard the tape. Not even close to a wash. Trayvon's mom is lying.

Yea she is...along with that 7 figure settlement ( Thanks to Trayvon who would have never so much as come up with rent or boarding money...unless he scored big time as a dope dealer! ) he finally set mom up very well.

She wants to copy those tapes onto a CD and put it to rap and sell it along with the Trayvon T Shirts.

RIOTS AND MAYHEM IF ZIMMERMAN ACQUITTED - sadly, that may very well be the price of justice. Remember this: the law abiding, peaceful, decent members of society did absolutely nothing to create this vile, toxic, inherently dangerous situation. This whole mess is a product of the entirely predictable, un-American, perverted, and scandalous PROGRESSIVE media machine and the first American "regime" which was also concocted/created and fed to a naive and unsuspecting American public at large.

I say let justice prevail and those that would create mayhem and riot in the streets targeting people for violence due to no other reason than their race will get their just deserts...let the chips fall where they may. Bloody race riots as a result of the Zimmerman trial will be placed squarely at the feet of this administration and its media lapdogs. We should all pray that our "president" is advised to diffuse this violent situation before it erupts, but also be prepared to defend not only yourselves, but also your families as well. Evil cannot be compromised with - it must be stood up to and defeated; true justice demands no less.

Remember BENGHAZI!

Jorge Zimmerman got convicted in the court of public deception.

He turned into Lily White George the creepy cracker and NBC, ABC and all the other Agenda Media got out their propaganda Edward Scissorhands and started snipping apart the truth.

The Agenda Media is NOT "mainstream"...if that's the main stream, who of us wants to drink from it? It's a toxic cesspool of leftist sophistry and despicable lies.

NBC and ABC tampered with material evidence in a case that THEY turned into a criminal trial.

They intentionally and maliciously...with malice aforethought...went about destroying a man's life.

It is time to start trying them for their evil...and stop being tried by them...in their court of public deception.

seems that the grand jury brought down a finding against the person that filed this action.

Time to invoke the Duke Lacrosse case and get rid of these politicial attorneys, that would sacrifice their soles to get a win, rather than to do what is right

Now we may get upset with lawyers that get their clients off, often do to stupid jurors, but their job is to defend a person The prosecution's job is the truth, whether that is a conviction, or not, or even if a case is filed.

This is an abomination because they subcombed to race hustlers and lame stream media, and when the justice system subcumbs to outside pressure the system has been compromised

Well, it actually exists, but it's legal standing is a figment of Larry Klayman's imagination. The indictment is not being widely reported because it's worthless. It has no legal value, no standing, no nothing.

White on black violent crime is so rare, that the MSM had to exaggerate the whiteness of Mr. Zimmerman, ignoring his Hispanic heritage.
Black on black violent crime? Black on white violent crime? Dog bites man stories.
A scared to death jury will convict Zimmerman of some lesser crime than 2nd man, but he will draw the maximum penalty from the judge, probably something in the 15-25 year range.
Zimmerman will win on appeal, and the state will decline to prosecute further.
On the civil cases, it's a coin flip if the Martin family will even go after Zimmerman. But it is a good bet that several media outlets will quietly pay significant amounts to Mr. Zimmerman, although it will take years of legal wrangling.
Oh, yeah, Mr. Zimmerman will probably have to move out of the US, change his name and appearance, and look over his shoulder for the rest of his life. But that is the price that the race hustlers will demand.

That has not been their modus operandi in the past. It's been feared every time, but it has not happened to any significant extent.

Frankly, most of the rioting in the Rodney King incident was purely opportunistic looting. People saw anarchy, and helped themselves.

I recall one reporter stopping a woman who was leaving a store loaded down with expensive goodies, and a look of pure joy on her face. Her comment? "Cain't be wrong, 'cause ain't nobody stopping us!"

I think their own laziness and stupidity provides some degree of insulation from such coordinated attacks on other neighborhoods.

Well, that and the fact that they know many of us are armed.

I sincerely hope that none of this happens or repeats itself, but the writing is literally on the wall if Zimmerman walks. If people have no fear about tweeting threats to riot and related justifications for doing so, then they'll have no inhibitions banding together to do so.

"Zimmerman filed a lawsuit against NBC in December 2012. That case should go forward once he is acquitted in the criminal trial. Hopefully his lawsuit against NBC will expose the media for its irresponsible and devious political practices and its racism. George Zimmerman should end up a very wealthy man, if any “justice” is to finally be done in this case."

For me, there's something unseemly about the prospect of Zimmerman making money out of the death of Trayvon Martin. While the circumstances of Martin's death indeed appear to support the idea that Zimmerman was railroaded and merely defended himself, it seems to me that essence of justice is determining if he is guilty or if he is not, period.

If the justice system agrees that he is indeed innocent of murder, that should largely be the end of it, in my opinion. He should breathe a sigh of relief and move on with his life, as best he can. The media should be highly condemned for its manipulation of the facts and their pressure to indict Zimmerman in essays and editorials across the land. I would have no problem with boycotts of the networks involved.

But that's the idealist in me talking. Unfortunately, it's not an ideal world and Zimmerman is going to be tainted by this for the rest of his life. Even if found innocent, some will inevitably mutter that strings were pulled to free an obviously guilty man, much as happened with the O.J. Simpson trial. Some of the mutterers will likely seek to harm Zimmerman so he will have to be on guard for his life for many years to come. That would be grossly unfair to him (assuming he is indeed innocent) and will force him to spend money, maybe quite a lot of it, on security precautions. Given that the media's falsification of evidence was a major contributing factor to the situation tends to justify that they should pay a significant percentage of those added security costs. Assuming that they are not likely to cover those costs voluntarily, lawsuits may be necessary to obtain that money from the networks.

Would boycotts or condemnations alone keep the networks from repeating this sort of evidence manipulation? I don't know. People who follow the details of what the media do, especially the MSM, might be better placed to answer that question. I expect that NBC would proudly declare that the firing of a couple of their people had solved the problem permanently. I expect that media skeptics would not believe it unless NBC itself was sold and placed under new management. Perhaps big corporations like NBC only really listen when millions or billions of dollars are on the line. Maybe lawsuits are the only way to make them more responsible. I just don't know.

All I can say is that it is extremely unfortunate that all of this came to pass. I rather suspect that, at worst, Martin might have been thinking about stealing an item of personal property that night. It's entirely plausible that he was only hoping to visit friends and family. Certainly, there has been no evidence that he had actually committed a crime, let alone a violent crime. Yet because of his confrontation with Zimmerman, Martin died. This was very likely because he tried to kill Zimmerman and Zimmerman took the very reasonable step of defending himself. But if the two had not crossed paths, both men would likely still be alive and well and living in obscurity, which would surely have been far preferable to the current situation. Zimmerman faces a lengthy jail sentence if convicted and America faces the potential of massive riots no matter which way the jury decides.

These are two separate issues. Zimmerman has been wronged by certain members of the media, and it is simple justice for him to seek redress of those wrongs.

No. Zimmerman would be making money off NBC malfeasance. NBC is making money off of Martin's death, as readers and watchers flock to their outlet to learn about the latest in the trial. Had NBC acted like a journalistic organization, none of this would have happened, Zimmerman would have no civil case to possibly earn millions from.

Let's keep the focus on the truly unseemly: media acting like a weapon of mass destruction and race baiters looking for a payday.

Zimmerman is making money off the death of Trayvon Martin. If he wins his suit he will be making much deserved money off of the lies and slander of NBC. The false accusations and blood lust of the media has cost Zimmerman a pretty penny in addition to the mental and emotional anquish caused by being on trial for charges that should not ever been brought. Thanks to the frenzy whipped up by the media's false narrative and abetted by race baiters like Sharpton, Jackson and, yes, Obama, Zimmerman may never be safe again. He deserves every penny he can get and more.

seems the person in the Atlanta Olympic Park bombing faced a similar situation and won in court.

I hope Zimmerman wins enough to repay the home owners for settling the suit with Martin to avoid court costs, enough to pay his lawyer and enough to cover all his expenses and allow him to invest and live comfortably on trust/annuity that will be paid in lump sum or each year, and that the funds should be after tax money
