The story that is fast becoming America’s second O.J. trial has taken more twists and turns. Via Mental Recession:
ABC News has re-digitized video of George Zimmerman taken shortly after Trayvon Martin’s shooting.
The video was unveiled as an exclusive this morning on “Good Morning America.” ABC was the first news organization to show the original tape.
Reporter Matt Gutman said the clearer video shows “what appear to be a pair of gashes or welts on George Zimmerman’s head.”
Neighborhood Watch volunteer Zimmerman has said he shot 17-year-old Trayvon in self-defense. The video shows Zimmerman arriving at the Sanford Police Department within an hour after the shooting.
Gutman said the video had been “clarified” by Forensic Protection Inc. Former FBI Special Agent Brad Garrett told ABC that the clearer video shows “marks on the back of Mr. Zimmerman’s head.”
Here is the new video from ABC. And here are two relevant frames. The first is from the new video. The second is from the original video that ABC released last week.
So many questions arise from those frames, most of them directed at ABC News. There are two distinct and bloody gashes visible in the frame on the left, even though my capture of it is the smaller of the two, that were not visible in the frame on the right, taken from the version first posted by ABC. That version ratcheted up the tensions in Sanford, and Martin’s parents even claimed that it was the “smoking gun” proving that Zimmerman’s and the police report’s accounts of that night were false. This new version of the video undercuts all of that. The differences come down to color and video compression. The original version appears “lossier,” meaning it is more heavily compressed for display online, and as a result much of its detail has been lost. That lost detail, however, was the entire point of posting the video, and ABC centered its story on the lack of detail seen in the original posted video.

the picture on the left doesnt square the notion of an non-scuffed white latino
the picture on the right appears as ambiguous and hazy as the spun narrative
The picture on the left could be the opening scene of a Jason Statham movie and the picture on the right might be the how to waterboard video featuring Zacarias Moussaoui.
Uh-oh…
The black community sees what it wants to see; don’t expect one single apology from the political Left on this one, no matter what happens, ever. I distinctly remember the opening days of the Duke scandal, when press conferences had a completely engaged group of black people in the front row. When that all went south, there were no apologies, just silence.
I guarantee you there will be repercussions from the Martin case but they won’t be in the form of street protests, but people stealing away from the NBA for their grotesque part in these proceedings, from any Spike Lee movie, even from the Dem Party perhaps. The black community cries about lynchings from decades and decades ago and then does its best to re-enact one based on factual and societal nonsense and fantasy. People are getting tired of the whites-are-racist theme; there is no evidence of an overarching interest and agreement in race on the part of whites in America in 2012; during the worst times for blacks from the beginning of America to 1965 there were prominent voices that took issue with slavery and Jim Crow; 80% of the American population, the North fought 20% in the Civil War. There is not even any sign that whites even see themselves as white in a racial sense, as if it makes a difference. Leave that to the Rainbow Coalition on the Left.
“…people stealing away from….the Dem Party perhaps.” You mean like the Zimmermans and other law-abiding Hispanics, who might get an idea about who supports their Second Amendment rights, and who wants to leave them defenseless against thugs?
Un-freakin’-real.
I guess we now know exactly how far they will go in their complicity. between Fast and Furious, Obamacare, all the energy companies going tits-up and this, I don’t trust a single thing this government does.
I’m never buying a paper or tuning to their stations again. not even for major breaking news. I’m OUT.
ABC is dirty. They should have their license revoked. Disgusting.
As Jacob Sullum points out over at Reason, the issue if that pesky probable cause. If we didn’t have that stupid Constitution they could just arrest him and let the State sort out the right outcome. There social justice to consider.
In the absence of evidence contradicting the claim of self defense, there was no probably cause to arrest or charge Zimmerman.
And why is not recording Zimmerman’s weight a blunder? Because it allowed biased media to put a wrong scenario out? Cops don’t try to keep the media from making up stuff or sensationalizing routine information because it can’t be done. In my town, a police officer shot a young black man. It caused the expected rabble rousers to come out. A few days later, in a report in the local online news about the medical examiner’s report, the first line was “The death has been ruled a homicide” Well, yes, in this context of the medical examiner, he ruled that the death was at the hands of another human, thus, homicide. But the “reporter” used that either deliberately or ignorantly to insinuate an illegal killing. In the end, the shooting was ruled justified self defense.
So, they messed up with the evidence in an investigation (and in a future trial.)
I believe it is a federal felony.
Someone must have told them, and they came back with the true images.
Were I Zimmerman the lawyer would already be retained, and ABC plus CBS served with a summons to explain themselves in a civil court.
I agree.
And think the lawyer will use this.
I don’t know all the details of an investigation like this. Probably the lawyer does not want to mess up the work of the DA and the Police for now.
So they photoshopped the original to hide the extent of injury to the back of his head. I’m shocked, shocked, I tell you.
Never believe anything you read from those people and now, nothing you see.
All the news that we can skew to fit our view.
It’s Wag The Dog, man. They can do anything they want.
No, they can’t. Not any more. We can fact-check their asses.
Breitbart Is Here.
We are Breitbart.
That wouldn’t be copyrighted would it?
*sigh*
No, they did not Photoshop the original. They showed the original just as it was. Read it again, c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y.
The second version is ENHANCED from the original, to show features which were obscured by the poor quality of the original.
This is what they should have done in the first place, but had to be shamed into doing.
Really, the only surprising thing is that they finally DID the enhancement and show it on TV instead of burying it.
Well, we’re getting closer. Now, let’s talk about this;
” a man who may have made a grave mistake by following Martin, “.
I am not aware of any evidence that Zimmerman actually “followed Martin” after being told “we don’t need you to do that” by the dispatcher. One of his relatives has stated that he was trying to find a street sign, so he could give an address to the dispatcher. That would appear to be consistent with the extensive discussion of addresses in the 911 tapes.
Isn’t a neighborhood watch supposed to ‘watch’?
Although Zimmerman was part of a neighborhood watch group, he was not on duty the night of Martin’s death. Zimmerman was just driving to the store when he saw Martin, who looked suspicious to him. This has also not been adequately reported.
On the 911 tape when dispatch tells him he does need to do that Zimmerman says okay and then starts telling dispatch where he is going to go to meet police-when dispatch ask him for the address/location to meet Zimmerman is not real clear of the address/street name-so this tells me he broke off following Trayvon and was looking for the place to meet police
Please write in grammatical sentences or phrases, and please use appropriate punctuation.
Clearly that person was taught by a fan of e.e.cummings; and is grammatical, tho’ the punctuation is eccentric. I’m bothering to defend, because you bothered to attack; criticizing the mechanics of presentation is hostile when the forum is informal. Stop it.
Hogwash, BeaM.
The leftists have been deliberately dumbing down the language for good reason, and those like you who defend the dumbed-down are part of the problem.
A.b.c , cnn , news whay is more important martin case to little Rock, fort hood?
?Police in Little Rock, Ark., say a man whoshot two new Army soldiers, killing one, at a military recruiting center likely had “political and religious motives.”
Police Chief Stuart Thomas identified the victim who died as 24-year-old William Long of Conway. He and the second soldier, both wearing fatigues, had recently completed basic training and volunteered to help attract others to the military.
A man in a black SUV drove to the recruitment office and fired “several shots” with an assault rifle at around 10:30 a.m., Little Rock police spokesman Lt. Terry Hastings told FOXNews.com.
Hastings said the suspect — described as a black male — immediately fled the scene in his SUV. The vehicle was stopped on Interstate 630 a short time later and the suspect was taken into custody approximately four miles from the center, Hastings said.

The Fort Hood shooting was a mass shooting that took place on November 5, 2009, at Fort Hood, the most populous U.S. military installation in the world, located just outside Killeen, Texas.[1] In the course of the shooting, a single gunman killed 13 people and wounded 29 others.[1] It is the worst shooting ever to take place on an American military base.[2]
The sole suspect is Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army Major serving as a psychiatrist. He was shot and taken into custody by Department of the Army Civilian Police officers,[3] and is now paralyzed from the chest down.[4] Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder under the Uniform Code of Military Justice; he may face additional charges at court-martial. If he is convicted, there is a chance he could be given the death penalty.[5][6]
Hasan is an American Muslim of Palestinian descent. Internal Army reports indicate officers within the Army had discussed what they characterized as Hasan’s tendencies toward radical Islam since 2005. Additionally, investigations before and after the shooting discovered e-mail communications between Hasan and Yemen-based cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who quickly declared Hasan a hero, as “fighting against the U.S. army is an Islamic duty”. After communications between the two were forwarded to FBI terrorism task forces in 2008, they determined that Hasan was not a threat prior to the shooting and that his questions to al-Awlaki were consistent with medical research.

I think we can now be about 95% sure that Martin viciously attack Zimmerman and tried to bash his head in on the pavement. Zimmerman, exercising his rights as a human being not to have his head bashed in, shot his vicious attacker. Martin will never again attack anyone. Not being a black racist, I consider this to be a good thing.
first of all , what does the constitution have to do with zimmerman not being arrested as some have stated ? from the photo , trayvon must of had zimmerman up side down banging his head against the surface . it was stated that trayvon was slamming zimmerman’s head against a hard surface so the wound , if any, would be more towards the back of the head not towards the top of the head as the photo suggest . just my opinion.
No, not if the top wound happened if he was knocked down backwards, because the head might have been leading the body down and might have been arched back.
Or if Martin was using the shoulder to slam the upper body and head down, with the head at the end whipsawing, that could explain it.
Or Zimmerman trying to slide backwards on the pavement, with his feet, as a means to slide out from under Martin and regain distance–go try it on your carpet while keeping your hands in the air. Your head will cock back due to the friction. The sliding on the pavement will take care of the rest.
It also could be that Zimmerman, to have a better strength while fighting from the bottom, especially with the arms, arched his back and hips off the ground, using back of head and shoulders as pivot points, while tensing his legs–which could have driven him backwards over the ground. Arching of the back also helps try to get the opponent off–I mean, doesn’t anyone remember fighting as a kid? I assume they do this in Greco-Roman wrestling too.
Or, since Zimmerman had grass-stains on the back of his shirt, he was mostly lying on the grass with only the top of his head next to the edge of the pavement. Then his head could have been pushed forward repeatedly into the vertical part of the pavement edge, or pushed down repeatedly while being scraped along the vertical part of the pavement edge.
From the evidence, Martin had to have been shaking Zimmerman by the feet and banged his head on the ground. This caused the pistol to fall out of Zimmermans pants, striking Zimmerman’s nose as it dropped. Zimmerman then grabbed it and shot. The bullet trajectory proves this.
Once again the media performance leaves me disappointed but not surprised.
Regardless of anything that has come to light, or anything that may come to light in the future, Zimmerman was instructed NOT TO FOLLOW the individual in question. Had he followed that one simple instruction, we would not be having this discussion now. Period.
Jules – He did not follow Martin after being instructed not to. He says OK when they tell him to stop, and he stops breathing heavily at that point. He was told to go look for a house address which he did.
I’m really tired of hearing people say that Zimmerman was instructed not to follow Martin. That is not the case. 911 said “we don’t need you to do that.” That is a different statement than “Stop – don’t follow him.” In my mind it could imply that the 911 operator didn’t want Zimmerman to put himself at risk. It’s not a huge difference, but a telling one, I think.
David – Actually you’re right, but I think Zimmerman must have taken that to mean, don’t pursue Martin. That’s because he says, “OK” and stops breathing heavily. Anyway, good clarification.
You and I both. I routinely clarfy that distinction every time someone claims Z “disobeyed the police” or some such nonsense that implies the dispatcher gave instruction.
Hint:
When the dispatchers said “we don’t need you to do that.” it was just a polite way of saying (as in, I’m being recorded?) “DUDE, are you f*cking STOOOPID!?!”
There is only so much room in a newspaper.
There are only so many seconds in a day.
No matter where you find this story its only true to purpose is to waste time and distract.
The Administration took a local story and blew it up to national proportions in order to keep the focus off the lack of jobs, the the housing debacle, the farce of the Obamacare defense at The Supreme Court, a failed foreign policy, and a host of other instances of negligence, incompetence, avarice and lies.
As the race for President heats up look for Obama to find other ways to distract the public from his record of failures.
The ” race card ” is just the first card in the deck.
My thoughts exactly. Rahm Emmanuel: “never let a crisis go to waste” And,in double duty, it greatly assists in keeping Obama’s voter base loyal.
This was meant to be more than a distraction. It is meant for two reasons.
One: to get the black base motivated to get out and vote. This won’t be the only racial fiasco during this campaign.
Two: If all else fails, they’ll call for riots, BIG ones, to use for the excuse of “Martial Law”.
To me the most telling evidence that Martin was the aggressor is that Zimmerman lost sight of him and that Martin was only a few steps from his father’s girlfriend’s house. That meant Martin doubled back to confront Zimmerman, decked him and then began beating him, none of which he had to do. Clarice Feldman has the link to Tom Maguire’s column that uses the police tape and some deductions that traces Zimmerman’s and Martin’s movements that night.
NB At least ABC News has repented a bit. There is the NBC News (hit) piece that omits a crucial line from the dispatcher, so it sounds like Zimmerman was the one who first identified Martin as black, and by inference, racist.
The function of the media “news” is not to provide facts. It is to influence perceptions regardless of consistency with reality. The media did a great job of that here, as they now often do.
Thats not a gash or a scar….thats a birthmark, all “white hispanics’ have those.
So how do we parse the fact that Zimmerman was cut up when he arrived? Its not fake but accurate so is it true but inaccurate?
I don’t put it anywhere near 95%, but I put the chances a good bit higher than 0%. And at 10% or 20%, it is reasonable doubt.
So the stand your ground law basically states that a person does not have to flee when faced with danger. Who is to say that Martin was not just going standing up to perceived threat? After al he was being followed by a man he did not know in an infamiliae place. I love how so many conservatives are as quick to paint Martin as a thug who deserves what he got. Is this any better than the picture of Zimmerman as a racist vigilante. Here is what I think happened. Zimmerman suspected Martun of criminal intent. He being a wanna be cop went a bit to far and initiated a response from Martin. He bit off a bit more than he could chew and had to use his weapon to keep from getting the snot beat out of him. If Zimmerman is 250 pounds, it must be a pretty soft 250 because most report put Martin between 140 and 160. Even at 160, Martin would have been a rail of a boy seeing that he is also reported to be 6’3”. I am 250 pounds myself and I think I could handle a kid who weighed 100 to 90 pound less than me.
Here is what I hope comes out. Was an autopsy performed on Martin? Were Zimmerman and Martin’s body analyzed for power residue? Did a blood splatter expert take a look at the scene and determine I the blood evidence matches Zimmerman’s story. Was Zimmerman taken to the hostpital? Are there medical records documenting Zimmerman’s injuries? Did the officers on the scene make a snap judgment and fail to gather all of the necessary information?
People are fond if making comparisons to the OJ case. I fear this could end up like OJ. OJ was guilty. I believed this from the start. I also believe that the police department dropped the ball and allowed to much evidence to be destroyed or compromised. As a result, the jury had little choice but to render the verdict it did. If Zimmerman really did act
In self defense, it’s ashame that the evidence may not bury any doubt. If Zimmerman is guilty, it is ashame that a boy with our a criminal arrest history will not see justice done.
By the way, Zimmerman was not saint either. He does have some sketchy things in his past too. Should it matter, maybe not. Should it matter that Martin may not have been a
Choir boy?
Eli – “So the stand your ground law basically states that a person does not have to flee when faced with danger. Who is to say that Martin was not just going standing up to perceived threat?” He wasn’t standing up to a perceived threat because he was in no longer in Zimmerman’s sight. He could have simply gone into the father’s girlfriend’s house and that would have been the end of it.
Also, Zimmerman was a slimmed down 160 pounds, about Martin’s weight, but Martin was a football player.
If he was out of Zimmerman’s sight, how’d he hit him?
Bagger – You ask the key question. One must conclude that Martin doubled back to confront Zimmerman rather than continue on to his father’s girlfriend’s house. As Tom Maguire pointed out, you would otherwise have to assume that Zimmerman caught up to Martin at which point Martin decked him (and in which case Martin would have been standing his ground). That scenario, though, is unlikely because Martin was a football player and I suspect was much speedier than Zimmerman. Also, Zimmerman when told that he didn’t have to follow Martin, said OK and his breathing on the tape indicates he stopped his pursuit. It was then that Martin could have continued on, but he didn’t.
That is the problem, you are making assumptions based on very cloudy information. We don’t really know when if Zimmerman saying okay meant that he heeded the 911 dispatcher’s request. We don’t know how close Zimmerman was to his car. Perhaps Martin wanted to confront Zimmerman before he got to his car in fear that Zimmerman had a weapon. There are too many what ifs.
Eli – I am linking to my comment because the thread has run out, so I can’t link to yours.
In any event, there are many what ifs. We know this though: After Zimmerman said OK he stopped breathing heavily, suggesting he was no longer running. We know Zimmerman lost sight of Martin, and it was dark and that Martin was near his father’s girlfriend’s house. We think Zimmerman that when Zimmerman stop pursuing Martin he went to get a house address to give to the police as he was instructed to do. After doing so, he started walking back to his SUV. It would seem Zimmerman was no longer a threat to Martin and in the dark probably would not have found him. Martin, being so close to where he was staying could have gone in and completely avoided Zimmerman. Zimmerman did not know that Martin was staying there. Why didn’t Marting go into the house? What if he had? BTW Has anyone find the skittles and iced tea.
Also, everyone keeps calling the place a ‘gated community.’ The gate though was open. Some gated community.
Eli said,
“I love how so many conservatives are as quick to paint Martin as a thug who deserves what he got.”
I am a conservative that has maintained from the start that judgement needs to be withheld until all the facts come out. I have read alot on this case and I have yet to see where any conservative is painting Martin as a thug or implying that he got what he deserved. In the main, conservative bloggers have just been leveling the playing field. Acknowledging that while Zimmerman is no saint, neither was Martin.
I am finding the only truly balanced reporting on this case on the conservative blogs. I hear over and over words of sympathy for the kid’s parents even as they are scruntinized for their actions. This is only proper. People in the throes of emotional trauma can be easily manipulated. They can make mistakes. That doesnt mean they didnt suffer a great loss. I am hearing the shooting being labelled a trajedy with bloggers acknowledging that while Trayvon wasn’t the angel he is being made out to be, he was still a 17 year old who hadnt gotten in any serious trouble yet. The clear sense of what I have been reading is that it is understood that lots of kids get into minor trouble in their teens and that none of these kids deserve to get killed for it.
What I am seeing is conservative websites doing everyone a service by trying to get at the truth to prevent a person from being railroaded before he ever sees the inside of a courtroom. We would all want that for ourselves. That is my main concern. Other than that, I am refraining from taking sides.
I agree with you on one point. In the end, I doubt that any of the parties will look good. Most likely, there will be some blame assigned to all of the actors in this sad drama.
“So the stand your ground law basically states that a person does not have to flee when faced with danger.”
– Come back when you’ve actually read the statute, before wasting time with yout pontifications.
I did. Interesting how you assume I had not. And my question stands. If Zimmerman intiated a conflict, wouldn’t Martin have had the right to use deadly force. I tend to believe that Zimmerman and Martin got into a confrontation and Zimmerman ended up getting the worst part of it.
Oh, I should say that have done my reseaech. I have read watched and listened to multiple sources. I would no “pontificate” if I had not.
Once again, Zimmerman was no longer pursuing Martin so that conflict was over. The next part has Martin confronting Zimmerman, which is a second conflict.
And a gain you do not know exactly what went down. You are making assumption just like those on the left are making assumptions. You assume he stopped pursuing, why? Because Zimmerman said he did? Because Zimmerman stopped breathing heavy? Or was is that for some reason some people think Zimmerman is more believable than Martin? Is it because some people see this as an assault on the gun industry?
You have a right to believe what you believe. So I need to excuse myself from this debate because it is. We are not getting anywhere. The arguments are getting circular.
Having read the stand your ground law three times over now, I believe that there are some abiguities about the law that could lead to some issues. I hope that if nothing else. One from this case, at least the law and it’s effectiveness are examined.

So here we have a national news outlet apparently spinning a racially charged story to support some agenda..? If memory serves the ‘Fourth Estate’ was supposed to keep an eye on government and its activities and report the truth of any situation; how can anyone believe the ‘lame-stream media’ when they not only fail to report the facts of an event but worse yet create their own version of of said event and in doing so inflame racial tensions? This is not just an insult to their audience but an attempt to incite violence and should be investigated as a possible crime.
And just think. All anyone had to do was ask, say, the paramedics who treated Zimmerman on the scene.
But that is not the narrative. The goal is to get the false information out there first since most people will not examine that too closely before making a judgement. By the time retractions and corrections come around, most people have already made up their minds. Being like most human beings, that means that the opinion becomes set invincibly in stone and only “evidence” that confirms that opinion will be accepted.
We can’t have black folks even thinking for a nanosecond about leaving the Democratic plantation. Most people will not even have an inkling of the forces that are coming to bear on them right now.
So let me see if I can understand this better. The doctrine of using force in self defense only applies to gun owners?
If, as it has been verified by police 911 accounts by Zimmerman himself and Trayvon’s contemporaneous conversation with his girl friend, Zimmerman trailed and confronted Trayvon, and Trayvon feared for his safety, was he not well within his legal rights to defend himself without a legal requirement to back down?
Zimmerman’s own vigilantism got him into an altercation with someone who, by all accounts was a better fighter (and obviously had the super-power flexibility of Plastic-Man, as Zimmerman claims he came up from behind and punched him in the nose), with someone who had every right to diffuse the situation with force, which Zimmerman describes.
I don’t believe that Zimmerman shot Martin because Martin was black. No, Zimmerman shot Martin because without the gun, Zimmerman couldn’t demonstreate his superiority over his subordinate. Zimmerman shot Trayvon because Trayvon had the unmitigated gall to fight back and one up the wannabe cop. Zimmerman shot Trayvon because after picking the fight, he realized he was outmatched.
Maybe the first requirement to getting a CC permit should be learning how to fight WITHOUT the gun first.
Bagger – You have not been following events as they have become better known. Read Tom Maguire’s piece. Link is on Clarice Feldman’s blog on PJ Tatler.
I don’t think I’d describe Tom Maquire’s piece as a developing story as much as one man’s fantasy. His premise that Trayvon’s proximity to his final destination is proof that he never intended to avoid a fight, because he could have just gone inside is ridiculous. GZ couldn’t rattle off addresses to the cops, and he’s a multi-year veteran patroling his own neighborhood; how’s a kid who only been there a few weeks going to pinpoint the right door (of the cookie cutter townhomes) when he’s trying to elude an unknown follower?
And, again, the Stand your Ground law says Trayvon was under no legal requirement to run away from his presumed assailant.
Once they were no longer in sight of each other it would have been easy for Martin to remain invisible in the dark. Also let me correct you where you say: “His premise that Trayvon’s proximity to his final destination is proof that he never intended to avoid a fight, because he could have just gone inside is ridiculous.” You clearly have not read the piece because that is basically my conclusion from reading the Maguire piece not his. There was also another street that Martin could have crossed over to and avoid Zimmerman entirely. Look at the map supplied by Maguire.
just an addition to my previous reply , if you keep watching the video you will see there are no wounds and the video clearly shows this . the shot of is head showing the wound , in my humble opinion , has been doctored .
Who do you think would have doctored the photo/video? The link in the story states that it is a new video from ABC. Do you think someone at ABC did something to the video?
The original post was deliberately doctored.
Incidents like this need to get widespread coverage. They are starting to take their toll on the credibility of the leftstream media. And that’s as is should be.
SANFORD IS NOT A SUBURB OF ORLANDO. IT IS ITS OWN TOWN AND IS BETWEEN DELAND AND ORLANDO!!!!!!!!
“Suburb” is an economic term, not a political term. Unless Sanford has its own large economic draw, and as long as much of its population travels to a larger city such as Orlando for work, etc., and given that Sanford is like 25 miles from Orlando (which has 5 times the population, and many, many more times the economic base) then it is correct to identify it as a suburb of Orlando.
Rush Limbaugh also pointed out in his first hour today that NBC massively distorted their reporting of Zimmerman’s 911 call by editing out the dispatcher’s question of the suspect’s race, in order to make zimmerman look racist.
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2012/04/02/shocker_nbc_news_doctors_a_tape
– cify him, crucify him!
Isn’t it obvious? That white latino bashed his head before he decided to shoot someone who was looking black.
I’m thoroughly disgusted by the endless concern for the well-being of ghetto thugs. If they don’t want to risk getting killed, how about they don’t go around robbing and beating other people? Can’t they evaluate the risk/reward ratio?
And where’s the sympathy for their current and future VICTIMS?
Just askin’.

Exploiting and Fearing Trayvon Martin
Commenting on the February killing of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, Stephanie Cutter, Obama’s Deputy Campaign Manager, said on MSNBC last week that President Barack Hussein Obama’s ”Republican opponents have jumped all over him because they do want to play politics with this issue.”
In apparent reference to Obama’s inappropriate intrusion in a local matter and making it personal by saying, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon,” Ms. Cutter went on to add that, “The President spoke from his heart on this, it was trying to empathize with some parents who had just lost a child. By any measure, this was a tragedy and we need to let the investigation take its course.” (http://bit.ly/GWEZid)
Ms. Cutter is in serious need of a reality check.
As with the 2009 incident between Cambridge cop, Sgt. Joe Crowley, and Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., when Ms. Cutter’s boss rushed to judgement and alleged Crowley acted “stupidly” without knowing any details about the confrontation, the president has again acted stupidly by intruding himself in the investigation.
Coincidentally, that intrusion occurred just eight months before a national election as Obama is trying to shore up his black and minority bases.
It is the president, his rabid supporters such as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, and the New Black Panther Party, and his mainstream media who have shamelessly exploited the death of Trayvon Martin.
Even if Republicans wanted to politicize Martin’s death, what political gain could be achieved by exploiting the shooting a black youth?
The only advantage that could be gained would accrue to Democrats and their media lapdogs to use the shooting to tar Republicans with a racist label and as a tool to push for tighter gun control, both of which efforts have already begun and neither of which makes much sense.
First of all, George Zimmerman is a registered Democrat and half Latino so, if blame must be assigned, blame Democrats and minorities.
Second of all, since the Democrat Party is hell-bent on gutting the Second Amendment, their focus should be on the African-American community where most gun crimes are committed and where there exists justifiable fear of black men.
In a rare excursion into honesty, Rev. Jesse Jackson said in March, 1996, “There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody White and feel relieved.”
As President Barack Hussein Obama admitted in March, 2008, his white grandmother . . . (Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=20498.)
Personally I’d like to see them start using updated pictures of Trayvon Martin instead of the ones where he is 12 or 14. I read somewhere that he was 6’2″, lets get the Autopsy where they have his real weight and height and see if “little” Trayvon is threatening or not.
The mainstream media is as corrupt as our federal government. This morning, while shaving, I was listening to NPR (for local news content). Naturally, they are begging for money during their annual spring drive, and I was actually, in a weak moment, I admit, thinking of sending them a few bucks because I do, on occasion, listen in. Then, there was a story that completely falsified a major detail on the Ryan budget. Their presentation was even close to factually correct. Will I send them any money – never. Not ever.
The media shouldn’t report on it at all, except maybe just to say let the facts come out. Period. End of story.
It appears NBC and ABC willfully altered voice and video recordings of Zimmerman to falsely brand him as a “white Hispanic” racist who hunted Trayvon down like a “rabid dog” and executed him in what can only be called a “hate crime.” ABC and NBC seem to have willfully attempted on incite racial violence. Can they be prosecuted by the ethically challenged Eric Holder’s Justice Department? What of the racially charged statements by the ever lovely and delightful congresswomen Edwards and Waters and other elected blacks? Are they granted license to cry “fire” in the crowded theater of race relations? What if the situation were reversed and a conservative news network willfully altered sound and video recordings to incite racial violence? What of white members of congress that made comments regarding a black version of Zimmerman? Double standards? Yes indeed.
Eli, you WILL NOT see, ‘criminal arrest history’ of Martin – even if he’d had a hypothetical criminal history. Martin was a juvenile.
Though Martin WAS suspended 3 times from school. Heck, Martin’s father spoke of the ‘trespassing’ suspension with laissez-faire like demeanor and vagueness (i.e. covering which most parents sadly do for their children) as if it’s ‘typical’ teen behavior.
Martin’s hardly the media darling the alphabet networks and you place him in with your above comments.
The same can be said of Zimmerman being some ‘wannabe cop’. By the way I think you give too much credit to police officers. It’s an easier career field to break into than most. But I digress.
You HONESTLY can’t tell viewing the Zimmerman video that Zimmerman is WAY UNDER 200 lbs whereas you claim to be 250 lbs?
I’m 5’10″ 165 lbs and knew straight away the Zimmerman booking photo was dated when Zimmerman’s PRESENT weight and later this video, albeit doctored was released.
Furthermore Zimmerman’s weight loss is PROVEN all the more with his clean shaven head whereas his neck, head size is much smaller than his dated booking photo.
Eli/Anonymous – I’d say your bias, lack of honesty is showing. Remove emotion from this case and look at the facts.
The doctored audio and video is disturbing, but the fact remains that we just don’t know. We can SPECULATE about who initiated what, but how can we know? Even when all the gatherable facts are in, we may never KNOW, but then, that is, most likely, reasonable doubt. On the other hand, do you NOT CHARGE someone because there is reasonable doubt. It seems to me that you still charge them with something, gather your facts, and then decide. Individual mileage may vary.
In Canada, like in the UK we have laws against libel and slander. The lamestream media dirtbag coverage of this story would be the subject of many, many libel lawsuits. You are free to say what you want but if you attack a person by provably lying you will be held to account in civil court.
With the media condemnation and the race industry vilification, Zimmerman couldn’t get a fair trial in Shangri-La.
As a trained athelete in his prime, Martin was clearly the agresser. Just as Zimmerman didn’t have to follow Martin, Martin didn’t have to confront Zimmerman. Martin was also suspended from school – again. It seems that he had an attitude problem.
