NBC News has learned that the Democratic Party will reinstate the language recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Republicans — including the Romney campaign — criticized President Obama and the Democrats after it was discovered this language had been omitted in the Democratic Party’s platform
This will all be changed on the floor today, NBC has learned, and it will probably mean just simply reinstating the 2008 language.
Indeed. But the new position is now at odds with the president’s official position. Obama’s position was how the DNC initially justified the language change.
“As the White House said several months ago, the status of Jerusalem is an issue that should be resolved in final status negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians — which we also said in the 2008 platform,” Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Melanie Roussell said in a statement today. “This is just another attempt by the Romney campaign to turn our support for Israel — which has always been bipartisan — into a partisan wedge issue by playing politics.”
That statement was issued earlier today. It has expired.

So someone should ask Obama if he accepts the DNC position recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and, if so, how he plans to pursue that objective. If he dances around the question like the State Department spokesmen, this correction won’t help him.
By the way, I understand that while “God” is not mentioned in the platform at all, “Obama” is mentioned 200 times (as against a dozen times in the 2008 platform).
You’re right. He should be asked the question, live on camera; indeed, he should be grilled on whether he really has Israel’s back. Unfortunately, he won’t give anyone an opportunity to do so. What’s more no one at NBC/MSNBC CBS ABC or CNN would dare or care.
No matter what he might say, we all know the real answer. Ms. Roussell stated it well. He’d trade Israel for a pack of cigarettes tomorrow.

Fortunately, since my verse farther down the lineup refers to Obama’s attitude towards Jerusalem, rather than to the Democratic platform specifically, it still stands.

The 2012 platform contains no mention of Hamas.
Previous platforms also contained promises to maintain Israel’s “qualitative military edge” in the region. The 2008 platform, for example, spoke of a “commitment which requires us to ensure that Israel retains a qualitative edge for its national security and its right to self-defense.” The 2012 platform mentions only that “[t]he administration has also worked to ensure Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region,” with no commitment to doing so in the future.”

They had to change it back…no choice after the DNC chair got busted in yet another lie. When the Israeli ambassador had to go public due to Debbie’s stupid-ass attempt to use him as a campaign prop, and thusly was caught lying AGAIN, the toothpaste was out of the tube and the only way to fix it was to change the platform language back to what our American Ayatollah didn’t want in the first place.
