America faces large problems: A soaring national debt, chronic unemployment that may become systemic, government services at the breaking point, a regulatory state that is verging on predatory, a Middle East falling increasingly into the hands of America’s enemies as America’s international peacekeeping becomes ever more unaffordable, and a world economy on the brink of catastrophe. In this moment, America needs a big thinker who can project confidence and inspire and unify the American people, but instead we have President Barack Obama. He is not only too small a thinker for the moment, he is simply too small for it, too venal, too divisive, too skeptical of economic freedom and of America’s role in the world.
Tonight’s State of the Union address was not an address on the status of our country. It was truly a State of the Election speech, focused on Obama making the pitch to keep his job rather than standing as a president of all the people. This president has never seen himself as that, a president of all the American people. He called for everyone to work together, for instance, but as a citizen of a state that did not support him in 2008, I have never seen a president more hostile to me or the state in which I live in my entire life. He has sent the regulatory state to stifle the energy industry here, mocked the desire for a more secure border with Mexico at a time when the drug war to our southwest has become as violent as any war in the world, and used his partisan health care law to push the federal government deeper into our personal lives and family choices.
Tonight’s speech followed the pattern of previous SOTU addresses, in being more about politics than about the state of our union. Barack Obama did not establish that pattern, but he did nothing to change it either. If anything, by showcasing a dishonest case for increasing taxes on the wealthy, he exacerbated it. By calling for what amounts to legislating profitability for “green” energy companies that haven’t proven they can stand on their own he proposes putting tax dollars toward partisan ends, when the nation is broke and the government has never made the case that it chooses more wisely than the market. By calling for more government intervention in the US economy, he called for more government, and less freedom. Even when he lauded MasterLock bringing jobs back to the United States, the president went out of his way to note that they were union jobs. Was that a signal that, as long as the jobs created are unionized, he will not sick his National Labor Relations Board on the job creator? He said the US auto industry was “back” while the American people continue to lose money on our forced investment in it. He proposed a new international trade bureaucracy, without detailing the costs. He claimed that the economy has created 3 million new jobs in 22 months, but left out the fact that many Americans have simply given up looking for work at all. When he did get around to mentioning the unemployed, it was in the context of proposing a government re-training program. Again, no details on how it would be paid for. He did eventually propose one way to pay for some of his ideas: Cutting the military.

1 – THE CORE OF HIS SPEECH/PLATFORM IS BASED ON A BIG LIE, THAT THERE IS GROWING “INCOIME INEQUALITY”; IN FACT, THEE IS NONE.
http://astuteblogger.blogspot.com/2012/01/core-of-obamas-speech-is-based-on-lie.html
2 – WHAT IF OBAMA’S BUMPER-TICKERS WERE TRUTHFUL? GALLERY HERE:
http://astuteblogger.blogspot.com/2012/01/gallery-if-obama-bumper-stickers-were.html
Speaking of big lies, one wonders if POTUS’s talk was proto-fascist. I wrote about why I think it might be, here: http://clarespark.com/2012/01/25/the-state-of-the-union-stinks/.
– against the “Do-Nothing President.”
Yawn . . . The GOP is in deep doo doo.
Shuttup troll, Your idol, the Chicago Mack daddy has nothing. He’s the worst president this side of Carter and you’re dumber than a sack of hammers to drool over him.
Perhaps you are right but sadly the US is in deep doo doo as well.
Camera shots of Buffet’s secretary showed her as if she had been injected with sodium pentathol and she was nodding with a blank stare like she was in la-la land. Or, she was that awed to be in the bleachers with the first lady-thing.
Or that she was ambivalent at being used as political theater.
She probably got an ‘invite’ from the boss to attend. You know – the ones you can’t refuse.
Thank you Bryan Preston for doing what I didn’t have the stomach for…actually listening to Obama’s speech.
Same here. We kept the television off that channel until it was over. I just spent my time blogging about other stuff.
swwWelll, at least MoocHelle wore something with sleeves …. Meow, meow …. Then I noticed, Hillary has the same headband from 91-92 …. Nice …. Nostalgia!
Kitty want some cream?
Yeah, I was holding my breath for another gawd-awful outfit, but I don’t think a glittery, spangley, eye-popping colored satin cocktail dress is REALLY what a true 1st Lady would wear to something “supposed to be” a solemn occasion. (oh wait … what was I thinking? just more kabuki theater)
You captured it in a nutshell: “There is no problem that he believes that his government cannot solve by passing another set of laws.”
Yeah that Lincoln quote prop was the bomb…
“Government should do for people only what they cannot do better by themselves and no more.”
Unfortunately, there are many people, usually of the Marxist variety that believe that government can do everything better….like Obama.
Ev, you’ve literally said (at Harry’s Place) that everyone who takes social security is a Marxist.
You should avoid using that word ever again, or at least until you have a competent psychiatrist.
josh scholar – you’ve used two logical fallacies in your claim that when Ev wrote that SOME people who feel that govt does things better than individuals are marxists – actually means that ALL people who accept social security are marxists.
The first fallacy is generalization from ‘some’ to ‘all’. And, another fallacy is reductionism– from ‘govt’ to ‘social security’.
I suggest that you not write comments like this without a basic course in logic and critical thinking.
But in his mind, it is the government that will determine the limits of what the people can do, before it stops ‘bettering’ them.
And yes, the whole ‘unity’ theme was built on the idea of unifying around him. It’s like the old joke in the military — the phrase “That guy is a real team player!” is more accurately translated as “He does exactly what I tell him.”
Thanks for the summary. I wanted to know what he said, but I knew I couldn’t make myself watch him.
Big moment, small president, and incredibly weak man. Obama’s energy policy he bragged of is not just a failure – it is a joke and national disgrace.
Note the grandiose speeches of “We Are The Ones!” has become “Can’t We All Get Along?”
Obama looked like a beaten man tonight. No sparkle in his eyes – just a man doing what he’s done best to get him where he is today as Teleprompter In Chief – reading and repeating the words. Just like he did when he read and said ‘Navy Corpsman’ – only no such stumbles this time – too important this speech was. He’s going through the motions – his ‘hope and change’ no longer enthralls the faithful much less inspires the doubting Thomas. He can’t bring himself to think or say that his ideas are failing – can’t quite verbalize them – but the ideas are floating around inside his gray matter – trying to get out – to get recognized for what they are – the truth…
…ah – there lay the problem! – The TRUTH. THE truth. The fact (truth) is that he is an abysmal failure. I wonder when that’ll occur to him?
Personally I have my doubts.
Agree with your post. We have a president who is ignorant, delusional, partisan, divisive, …
Mitch Daniels said many of these same things, btw, in his rebuttal, which means overall I thought it was pretty good, too. Could have been sharper. He could have faced the camera. He could have addressed a small audience.
Obambus tone was newly aggressive, I think he has some new handlers who give him some good lines (from his perspective), and this is the drama coaching he’s getting on delivery.
It’s all nauseating, but what’s worse is that the entire Democratic apparat will stand behind him on all. Everyone individual has failings, but when major organs fail the problem is that large.
The Daniels rebuttal was weak. It’s the perfect example of why following the ruling class will be a disaster in this election.
- he flat-out said the economy isn’t obama’s fault. But it IS the democrats fault. It’ CRAZY to say what he said.
- all he talked about was the economy. Nothing about class warfare, illegality, bow-down foreign policy, abandonment of allies, etc., etc., etc. That’s a disasterous approach. We need to put the economy in the overall framework of statist/fascist/one-world governemnt, because the economy will probably look a lot better in November than it does now
- he continually, respectfully talked about “the President”. What he should continually talk about is “the President’s dangerous policies”.
- he brought up Social Security and Medicare and never said that obama has increased the 50% over all prior president’s combined and annual budgets by 1 trillion.
- there wasn’t a single word in the whole droning speech that ordinary people can relate to. Not a story, not a single word of personal impact, not a single word about our children, and only two passing references to the future
Fortunately, the rebuttal speech never matters, because it was an unmitigated disaster.
I thought Daniel’s speech was excellent. Remember, it was to be the Opposition’s analytic reaction to Obama’s State of the Union.
You write as if you expected it to be a campaign speech of an adversary against another contestant. That is not the function of this speech.
Daniels clearly outlined that the task of Obama when he took office was to repair the economy – and it was in a bad state – even if we blame the Democrats and Fannie/Freddie for it. He failed to deal with the economy instead, he increased the debt load – which is now crippling the economy. Major error.
His health care – another major error – and remember, in Obama’s SOTU, he barefly mentioned the economy or health care. Heh.
That is – Daniels was outlining what Obama ought to have done, and failed to do; his disparagement of wealth, of people in private business; his refusal to enable energy self-sufficiency in the US, the cancellation of the pipeline; his refusal to tackle tax reform; his constant controlling agenda of regulations; refusal to revamp medicare and social security; his constant blaming of others; his divisiveness and pitting people against each other; his rejection of the rights to self-organization and self-responsibility with his insistence that govt must do all – including even telling us what light bulb to use..
I thought it was excellent. Remember, it was not and should not be, a campaign speech.
This pathetic Socialist-Marxist in the White House has been and continues to be an abject failure. He has and continues to DESTROY our economy, our military and our standing in International Issues.
I regret that there are still tens of millions of clueless Americans who will vote for him in November. However I pray and believe that fewer voters will decide to vote for him a second time and more Americans will come to the polls to kick his sorry butt out of office.
crypticguise,
If what you say is true then It is much better than I think it is. I don’t think he is failing or stupid. I think he is destroying our country on purpose. I consider him an enemy of the state.
My fellow americans, change has indeed come to America. How’s it working out for you. Good, don’t worry, 4 more years will take care of that.
At the competion of my second term the United States will resemble the worst of Mexico and Argentina, with an economy smaller than either nation.
That’s the change your getting…
Is it just me,
or did it seem like his SOTCampaign speech didn’t play well even among his own party?
A very good summary of BHO’s divisive and polarizing speech. The man can only agitate and not focus people to a common objective. But then he WAS a community agitator. I watched about thirty minutes and yelled “Liar” so many times that my wife got up and left the room. The man can be shown to lie at almost any opportunity but proving it to his followers makes no difference. They are on the gravy train until the end.
I feel so sorry for your wife.
Divisive eh? Shame on Obama for cravenly using his race to divide the country into those who can stand having a black president and those who can’t!
Nothing in Rudy’s post says anything about race. YOURS ON THE OTHER HAND IS ALL ABOUT AND ONLY ABOUT RACE. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?
Josh Scholar is nothing but an energetic troll. As soon as he reads this, he will post an insulting, rude, ad hominem attack claiming that he’s not a troll, the way Nixon was “not a crook.”
What does Obama’s skin color and background (white/black) have to do with his socialism, his open divisiveness of people into identity groups (race, background, class, political party) and exhorting of people to behave in an adversarial manner to others, his constant manipulation of people by fear mongering, his disdain for Congress, his…
What does Obama’s ‘race’ have to do with such behavior? Are you actually suggesting that such behavior is GENETIC???? Oh- from which parent?
Kindly explain.
ETAB, deluded people interpret all evidence, even evidence which is neutral or contrary to their delusion, as evidence supporting their delusion.
Observation: Inspector Rudy objected to the POTUS’s speech because he suspects much of it was lies. Josh Scholar’s conclusion: Inspector Rudy can’t stand having a black man as President.
Next observation: Medilla and ETAB point out that Inspector Rudy’s remarks on the SOTU speech contain no reference to anybody’s race, so Josh Scholar’s accusation of racial prejudice is purely imaginary. Josh Scholar’s observation: Medilla and ETAB can’t stand having a black man as President.
Final observation: Jack Olson notices that Josh Scholar feels no need of any evidence of racial prejudice to accuse somebody of it. Josh Scholar’s observation: Jack Olson can’t stand having a black man as President.
You are so right about Obama being an agitator. He was an agitator even before learning Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals when he worked as a community organizer in Chicago for four years.
From Alinsky’s Rules:
“An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent… He must create a mechanism that can drain off the underlying guilt for having accepted the previous situation for so long a time. Out of this mechanism, a new community organization arises….
“The job then is getting the people to move, to act, to participate; in short, to develop and harness the necessary power to effectively conflict with the prevailing patterns and change them. When those prominent in the status quo turn and label you an ‘agitator’ they are completely correct, for that is, in one word, your function—to agitate to the point of conflict.” p.117
***He called for making it illegal for students to drop out of school before they’re 18***
Because making children who want to learn secondary to those who feel forced to sit in the classroom has worked so well so far in breeding mediocrity, let’s expand it.
Is anyone else feeling desperate to just find a new country where opportunity still exists for people who want to try to achieve something? To me it feels like we have been on a 20 year trend where we increasingly reward greed and failure at all levels, punish those playing by the rules and who are self-sufficient, encourage mediocrity to avoid hurt feelings, and denigrate success and competitiveness.
Yes, let’s make kids that don’t have the vision to finish school or who don’t fit into the mold criminals. What a wonderful idea.
Ironic in that Obama’s three SOTU addresses have the lowest grade average of any modern president [8th grade level].
By far. the biggest problem this nation faces is how to beat a two-faced, lying, corrupt Communist in progressive clothing.
Frequent lying miles Obama started accumulating on Jan. 20th, 2009, and he hasn’t stopped since.
That so many Americans can be so gullible as to consider voting for such a miscreant makes my blood boil. If Obama wins a second term, you’ll all find out what it feels like to be Davy Crockett at the Alamo.
AZ asked for help when under siege from a pipeline ferrying illegals from Nigaragua to Mexico and his response was to portray the state as unreasonable by reason of being alarmist racists.
This tells you an awful lot about Obama.
Well, that and sending those running the pipeline all the guns they wanted as a pretext for undermining the Constitution contrary to his oath to uphold it.
Obama’s Class Warfare–Mission Accomplished?
Anyone who has closely or even cursorily followed the actions, declarations, and proposals of candidate Barack Hussein Obama and the enacted socio-economic policies of the Obama presidency has to be aware that he represents the greatest threat to domestic and international tranquility in the history of the United States.
Obama’s slip-of-the-lip to Joe the Plumber in 2008 that his intent was to “share the wealth” should have alerted Americans to his radical Marxist inclinations, but it didn’t.
His repeated statements pitting rich against the poor, the haves against those who haven’t, should have informed the electorate that he was launching class warfare, but they didn’t.
His Justice Department’s black racist decisions and his demeaning of white Americans should have shown he was fostering racial antagonisms and pitting race against race, but they didn’t.
His foisting of Obamacare on the American people, a socialistic scheme designed to kill off the sick and elderly patterned on Britain’s failed NHS, should have proven he was far more committed to his legacy than to the well-being of Americans, but it didn’t.
His enthusiastic support for the revolutionist Occupy movement intent on subverting the capitalist system that has made America great should have been a giveaway that Obama wasn’t a real American, but it didn’t.
None of that evidence was sufficient to convince Obama idolators who still mindlessly subscribed to their illusion of Barack was their dream rather than what he is, a nightmare and a fraud.
The president’s designated apologist, Press Secretary Jay Carney, was hit with an easy question at his Monday press briefing, a simple query as to whether a picture of Saul Alinsky hangs in the White House. The reporter was motivated to ask since Newt Gingrich has reasonably claimed Obama’s vision comes from the man who coined the term, “community organizer,” Saul David Alinsky.
Amid titters, Carney scoffed, waffled, defended his boss’s background as a Chicago “community organizer,” and replied without answering the qustion, ”I’ll just leave it at that.”
See Carney dance around Saul Alinsky here http://bit.ly/y0KKJn.
I doubt there’s a framed portrait of Alinsky in the executive mansion. There would be no need since Alinsky extremist socialism is firmly embedded in this president’s psyche and philosophy so who needs a picture?
Alinsky never became a registered Communist. He was so full of chutzpa that he refused to be bound by Communism’s “doctrinaire, humorless and intellectually constipated” rigidity. Instead, he blazed his own trail of doctrinaire, humorless, intellectually constipated independence that served to supplement Communism’s and which, if anything, was more radical.
He virtually invented the job of community organizer, a euphemism for a rabble-rouser engaged in stirring social discontent and societal revolution and developed that profession on the streets of Chicago, the same streets on which his disciple Obama later practiced Alinskyite tactics.
As Linn and Ari Armstrong noted, “Beneath his [Alinsky's] platitudes about democracy and the ‘importance and worth in the individual,’ Alinsky reveals his core goal: to ‘use power for a more equitable distribution of the means of life for all people.’ “
Sound familiar? It should because Obama said much the same thing when he told Joe the Plumber that his aim was to “spread the wealth around” through political force.
In another relevant observation, . . . (Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=12244.)
IF he were a “community organizer”, what community, and who exactly can attest to his “community organizational skills”? Where is there any resume we can research to verify exactly what any “community organizer” is supposed to accomplish?
We now know that President of the United States can be construed as “community organizer”. Obama’s “Carney-ville” jester will attest to that.
A cynic might suggest that you can gauge the greatness of a president by the length of their speeches. Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was just a couple of minutes. Reagan’s historic Berlin Wall speech was a brief 26 minutes. The great and humble Thomas Jefferson felt giving a state of the union speech was “too monarchical”, so he just sent a letter to congress.
As for Barack Obama, he spent over 1 hour droning on about how wonderful things are/will be in his imaginary world, without ever once mentioning anything to do with the actual current state of our country or our civil liberties. Contrast Obama’s public glorification of his expansion of the federal nanny state, with this quote from Washington’s 1790 State of the Union Address warning against just such an eventuality:
“To the security of a free constitution it contributes in various ways – by convincing those who are intrusted with the public administration that every valuable end of government is best answered by the enlightened confidence of the people, and by teaching the people themselves to know and to value their own rights; to discern and provide against invasions of them; to distinguish between oppression and the necessary exercise of lawful authority; between burthens proceeding from a disregard to their convenience and those resulting from the inevitable exigencies of society; to discriminate the spirit of liberty from that of licentiousness – cherishing the first, avoiding the last – and uniting a speedy but temperate vigilance against encroachments, with an inviolable respect to the laws.”
I wonder what Washington would have thought of the ‘Patriot’ Act?
I would think he’d point out the irony of the name – at the very least.
I wonder what Washington would have thought of gay rights, abortion rights as birth control, murder’s rights, etc., etc., etc., — it would seem that the founder’s understood the difference between liberty and licensiousness, too bad that’s lost today.
This charlatan is a one man band from Chicago playing a one note horn – tax and spend. To him and his cronies it sounds like a full brass band I’m sure. He and they may be stuck on one note but I bet the American people won’t be stuck on stupid when November comes round. This time next year he’ll be invited to leave office. The only question I have is will he leave willingly?
Want to know where Americans jobs are going Mr. Prez? This is the tip of the iceberg. Just one story of many. Think about it – how and why do the Chinese get jobs Americans can do? Could there be payoffs for funneling work to the Chinese? Who is involved – who gets the money if there are payoffs? And what makes you think there aren’t any? Think its just plain old capitalism at work?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdchHGIbxSI
I’m surprised that the red diaper doper babies – AKA ABC News – AKA God-Damned Commuinsts – would air such a story with their Messiah in office. There seems to be nobody with any brains in high places giving any thought to American workers when it comes to big dollar public or private projects – whether they be republican or democrat. The most recent in a string of bad decisions by Obama is the XL pipeline project that he nixed just a few days ago. That pipeline could have put as much as 200,000 people back to work eventually. Lest you think a pipeline is dangerous this country is criss-crossed with pipelines. Seems his buddy Warren Buffet is going to make millions or billions transporting that oil over the rails with his choo choo trains. Buffet just happens to own a large chunk of Burlington Northern Santa Fe through his Berkshire Hathaway company. Obama also did a ‘favor’ (actually a twofer)for George Soros with that one since he is heavily invested in – gasp – Burlington Northern – and in Brazilian offshore oil development. Oil prices will be kept up at the delivery point in Texas which guarantees Buffet and Soros more money for oil delivered at the refinery since transportation of oil via rail is about $3 per barrel more than by pipeline. This gives Soros up to $3 more per barrel delivered to the Texas Gulf Coast via tanker than if the XL pipeline were built. Money out of your pocket and into the pocket of a multi billionaire.
Look for gasoline prices to increase by up to $.50 in the next few months before the main driving season begins – especially on the East Coast where a large part of your oil and gasoline products come from the Virgin Islands. Specifically St. Croix – thanks in large part to the heavy hand of the Federal Government – specifically the Environmental Protection Agency. Send your thank you’s to the White House and Obama since the EPA has the full support of this Moron in Charge with this action.
The things I write of here is the tip of the iceberg – and only the most recent activities.
Keep up the happy thoughts everyone – the election is only ~290 days away.
Lets hope we can survive these morons.
Crony capitalism at it’s best.
AMEN to that, Mr. Preston.
And THEY are going to come after US on ETHICS!!!!!!! If it weren’t such an overwhelming tragedy already, it might be funny.
One of the best things Newt Gingrich can do to prepare himself for the cage fight to take place is have Callista kick him in the gonads at the most unexpected time every morning, until he is either defeated or nominated.
And you know it is going to be a cage fight, with OUR representative in the cage, and them taking turns in the cage attacking US and OUR representative.
Newt attacking Mitt, and vice versa, is only a small rehearsal for the street fight to come from the Obama Establishment. And if you don’t think it will be a street fight, you are a total fool. Anyone not preparing for the savage attacks to come, will be slaughtered, their family and children slain, their house and barn burned, and their heirs jailed and prosecuted.
The Congo will look more like America than the United States.
In short, The One spent 65 minutes saying “Everything I’ve done is a spectacular success, or would be if you stupid groundlings would stop getting in my way. So, I’m going to do even more of it. Oh, and don’t forget, I Won.”
He could have come on stage, said, “Good evening, my fellow Americans”, flipped us the bird, said “Good night”, and walked off, and achieved exactly the same result.
Of course, that wouldn’t have fed his Class-O supergiant star-sized ego as well as bloviating for over an hour. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Google “astrophysics” and “Oh Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me”.)
Come November, let’s send His Immensity on the duffer circuit, permanently. We’ll still have to listen to him excoriating us for existing, but at least he won’t be making the decisions any longer.
clear ether
eon
“We’ll still have to listen to him”
You are presuming we have been listening to him all along – I haven’t listened to any of his speeches in well over two years. The man makes me physically ill when I hear him
talkinglying – I think about the death grip the tentacles of his reach have on the throat of ‘normal’ government and business functions that are being changed in ways we have yet to fully appreciate. All carried out at his behest by functionaries that couldn’t care less about our concerns – who gets hurt in their processes – their only concern is carrying out the orders ofthe PresidentThe Won – to corrupt the processes that have been in place and proven to work – like throwing the proverbial monkey wrench into finely meshed gears.I cannot listen to this man any longer – I come to places such as PJM to find out what he really
saidlied about. There is an old engineering joke which summarizes the State of the Union speech: If elephants could fly, umbrellas would be designed differently.
This was a State of Delusion speech, on energy, my background. The key problem is cost. Costs will climb ever higher until they crush our economy. Some 90% of energy costs are dictated by government regulations. No bureaucracy constrains cost, and as long as costs can be passed on the consumer, no large corporation cares. If they can not pass it on, they either leave the nation, or stop investing.
No one is accountable for energy costs. How much are you willing to pay to reduce (not eliminate) some bad, evil substance such as Carbon Dioxide? Hint: It is what you just exhaled.
My singular impression watching the address is that our nation is in dire straits, it may not survive. And the people who did it to us sat in that chamber.
My sole agreement with my President was his last (paraphrased) words: God help America.
Obama said a lot of things that sounded good and right, so much so that the Repubs had to applaud for a number of them. I mean you can’t be against the troops, killing Bin Laden, being a team player, or holding China’s feet to the fire.
Unfortunately, most of the discussion here is pure righty bombast. One should at least take enough time to point out how he says x, but does y. Of course the truth is that he does x some of the time, but acknowledging that would muddy the water too much. In the meantime, Cybergeezer is preparing for blood in the streets. Really? Sound more to me like the far righty benediction at a church service.
I will say that Obama’s speech patterns to create emphasis, while still way ahead of GWB’s abilities, are getting a bit threadbare. He is becoming the scar-tissued vet, who has been smacked around a bit and is going with plan B or C. Remember Clinton? Hannity chooses to frame this as some kind of abject defeat, but it is more normal survival skills and growth. Hell, it is virtually impossible to have any discussion around here of Obama’s strengths and weaknesses, just as it was impossible to have any objective discussion with my lefty friends about GWB. We are all Alinskyites, now, eh?
Alinskyism gets thrown around a lot, but one could now argue that both sides are now Alinsky disciples in terms of form, if not content, contributing to the pervasive nastiness….not that there’s anything wrong with that, eh?
Dwight;
How much are they paying you to play the retard? Is it really worth it?
As opposed to this gem? “And if you don’t think it will be a street fight, you are a total fool. Anyone not preparing for the savage attacks to come, will be slaughtered, their family and children slain, their house and barn burned, and their heirs jailed and prosecuted.”
Is there any connection between what you say, and what actually might happen? Or is that just a metaphor? I would bet that I am at least as prepared for such an eventuality as you are, but the fact that you spout such stuff, marginalizes you.
Congress should force the president to fulfill his constitutional duty to notify congress of the state of the union. He has not yet satisfied the requirement, but continues to give political speeches.
O’Corrupto is the equivalent of the 19th century horse thief, trying to steal the nation from the people. You can fill in the rest.
Poor Bryan it seems you have come to realize that the four midgets that are left in the Republican nomination for POTUS have no chance. The one who will probably win is Romney and he will be verbally eviscerated by the dems and the perfect foil for all of what he represents: Lobbying against the elimination of carried interest, investing in funds that benefit from housing foreclosures, saying you can trust what comes out of his mouth when he flips more than a fish out of water. I love it!
The President has framed what the election will be about and will force the republicans to oppose him and they will get creamed. Lose the House, Dems keep the Senate and Obama wins. The first vote in the Senate will be for new rules and that can’t get filibustered. Let’s face it your only hope is to prove he wasn’t born here – rotflmao.
Once that happens America will steam on ahead a far better country than what the base here dreams about.
Spoken like a true communist. Yup, the only way to prosperity is through state-control. If your wish comes true, I won’t be living here. And you and your ilk will enjoy all the benefits the proletariat will let you have. If you were born during the time of the Soviet Union, then you are a fool. If not and your teachers never educated you on such entities, then you are still a fool for not questioning the validity of state control in your life.
If O-blow-me is your hero, then great. But be careful what you wish for, clown.
Far be it from me to stop you from cutting and running. Take more with you but make sure you leave us your address so we can send you those socialist Social Security checks.
Please explain how a forced taxation that I pay into and then accept as a fractional return for what I have paid into is my choice? FDR and his administration wrought that unto us. I neither defend it, nor desire to pay into it. And I don’t collect from it, yet but I will…because that is the contract that allegedly exists. I submit that when I’m of age to collect it, it won’t be a check. It will be some other thing that the government will deem a legitimate substitute, in the form of powdered protein meal or something similar, made in China.
Your assumption is bullshit, pal.
You mean those Social Security payments I was promised in return for having money sucked out of my paychecks without my consent for 45 years?
That wasn’t a socialist act – just highway robbery if you and I don’t get repaid the money we gave up for those years of paying into SS and MC. Imagine the money we’d have if the money that were confiscated in those 45 years had been placed in money markets – bonds – etc.
I’ll take mine in cash please. No long term payout needed or wanted thank you.
Flaming, I refuse to believe that anyone capable of putting a grammatically correct sentence together also believes that Obama is a good president. I know you’re a very afraid ideologue and this has blinded you to reality. ANY Republican that wins the nomination will win the election and even more dems will go down than lost their seats in the Midterms. People will not be voting for a person this November as they will be voting to get rid of your guy, the worst president ever and a minor disaster for the country. Obama is also the worst thing that has ever happened to your party, far exceeding Johnson’s overreach and Carter’s incompetence. You should look into ways to reform your party before more misfires like Obama comes along and highjack it into oblivion.
Obama is losing a large block – women. My older sister hangs out with many of her friends on Tuesdays and play bridge pinochle and other games and shoot the breeze while doing so. Four years ago most of these women were all in for Zero. This year? of the 10-12 women my sister ‘polled’ that were all-in for the Fraudster in Chief four years ago only 2 are adamantly all-in for him this year. These are predominately older white country club women (local golf course members) who thought it would be ‘great’ to finally have someone other than an old white guy for POTUS. Consensus: it was a bad idea.
This trend isn’t news – look at the percentage of democrats who no longer identify with their party – fewer wish to call themselves democrat while more identify themselves as republican. A trend that has reversed itself since early 2008 and continues to trend against the democrats and for republicans.

The only way Obama can retain office is through massive voter fraud.
“The President has framed what the election will be about and will force the republicans to oppose him and they will get creamed.”
Perhaps Zero has attempted to ‘frame’ the argument – but not in his favor if it were based on anything he said last night. Tax and spend is a losing argument. I’m surprised he didn’t break an arm patting himself on the back – the list of his ‘accomplishments’ – killing OBL – ‘winning the war’ in Iraq (the jury is out on that one – and look for it to blow back on him as early as this summer) and Afghanistan would seem to be feathers in his cap – until you realize it was Bush/Cheney that put the mechanism in place to do the deed. Doing nothing while the muslim brotherhood engulfs Egypt Libya and elsewhere in the Middle East isn’t going to pay dividends to Zero. Too bad those accounts likely won’t be fully known for some time.
No – the American voter aren’t as stupid as Zero would like them to be. Come October when Joe Six-pack still doesn’t have job and many of his neighbors are also unemployed – houses sit empty on the block and foreclosed or being processed for non-payment – businesses shutting down due to excessive costs in health care rising and other compliance regulations that squeeze the life out of them – and old people have to decide whether to pay the medical bills that month or eat – Joe and his family and friends will look around at the systematic attacks on them and their businesses and decide that four more years will be a foolhardy choice.

There seems to be nobody with any brains in high places giving any thought to American workers when it comes to big dollar public or private projects – whether they be republican or democrat. The most recent in a string of bad decisions by Obama is the XL pipeline project that he nixed just a few days ago. That pipeline could have put as much as 200,000 people back to work. Lest you think a pipeline is dangerous this country is criss-crossed with pipelines.

Seems Zero’s buddy Warren Buffet is going to cash in for millions transporting that oil over the rails with his choo choo trains. Buffet just happens to own a large chunk of Burlington Northern Santa Fe through his Berkshire Hathaway company. Zero also did a ‘favor’ to George Soros with that one (actually a twofer) since he is heavily invested in – gasp – Burlington Northern – and in Brazilian offshore oil development. Oil prices will be kept up at the delivery point in Texas which guarantees Buffet and Soros transportation profits – since transportation of oil via rail will cost about $3 per barrel more than by pipeline. Who do you think will pay the $3 per barrel? This allows Soros up to $3 more per barrel delivered to the Texas Gulf Coast via tanker from his Brazilian oil concerns than if the XL pipeline were built. Money out of your pocket and into the pocket of a couple of multi billionaires.
Look for gasoline prices to increase by up to $.50 in the next few months before the main driving season begins – especially on the East Coast where a large part of your oil and gasoline products come from the Virgin Islands. Specifically St. Croix thanks in large part to the heavy hand of the Federal Government – specifically the Environmental Protection Agency.

Send your ‘thank yous’ to the White House and Obama since the EPA has the full support of this Moron in Charge.
Keep up the happy thoughts everyone – the election is less than 290 days away.
Lets hope we can survive these morons.
K.T., KUDOS! I’m totally lovin’ your posts!
Barack Obama spoke of “nation building right here at home.”
The only thing this President has successfully built in the last 3 years is his self-image.
Obama’s presidency is actually a reality program that’s called, “The Worst President Ever, and then some.” We dummies haven’t caught on yet. Can’t wait till the next episode.
I am English so don’t have a vote in this but from initially being hopeful about Obama I now cannot even watch him speaking, I have come to loathe his prissy little voice and smug llttle face. I am a keen follower of US politics and simply cannot understand how on earth the American people could even consider re electing this man, he has been a disaster on all fronts as far as I can see. Funny I have never thought of him as Black, trouble is now I don’t think of him as American either and I don’t mean where he was born. He just seems to have no affinity with the America I know and love and wants to change it into Europe, that worked out well didn’t it. I just hope enough Americans realise this, anyone would be better at least all the Republican candidates love their country in the way the Democrats used to.
Tuesday’s State of the Union address was an almost unbearable exercise in irony. Class warfare is a good starting point. Mention food stamps or “the poor” and many liberals will reflexively charge you with racism. By that standard, isn’t it just as racist to villify the rich? And at the very least, it is hard to argue that class discrimination is morally superior to race, gender, or other forms of discrimination.
President Obama emphasized the unfairness of increasing income disparity. In part this is a statistical artifact. Changes in tax law cause more monies to be considered income for the rich and benefits given to the poor are not included as income. Our president also did not mention that an increasing number of people is making decisions that impede economic mobility; dropping out of school, becoming single parents, and not getting married. And, despite economic disparity, one could easily argue that our economic experiment has been a stunning success; we are the wealthiest nation on earth and even poor Americans fare much better than poor people in most other countries. It is interesting to hear President Obama criticize the wealthy, considering that he is wealthy and can expect to get even wealthier. He criticizes Wall Street but stocks his administration with Wall Street executives. He surrounds himself with wealthy people and has adopted a lifestyle that many of them would envy; have Johnny Depp, Tim Burtin, or Paul McCartney been to your house lately? Been to Martha’s Vineyard or a private Hawaiian compound lately? How’s your golf game coming?
President Obama discussed the notion of “fair share.” We already have the most progressive tax structure among developed nations. Those who would point to the European social welfare states must realize that these are largely funded by regressive VAT, not progressive income taxes. President Obama has increased the size of federal government by 25% and promises to increase it further. But when confronted with the need to reduce debt, he trots out the need to preserve entitlement programs in a classic bait-and-switch. Increasing taxes on the rich is pure political rhetoric, as the rich simply do not have enough money to pay for his grandiose schemes. When we consider “fair share”, we must also keep in mind that almost half of Americans pay no income tax at all, 20+% are entirely dependent on government benefits, and 60+% receive more money in government benefits than they pay in taxes. Certainly, it is important to care for the needy among us, but is that really 60% of the population? Focusing on income disparity without considering “maker and taker” discrepancies is disingenuous.
Perhaps the most humorous moment was President Obama talking about having everyone play by the same rules. In the automotive bailouts, this President ignored bankruptcy law and favored unions over secured bondholder debt, then stuck taxpayers with the rest. Tax loopholes are being created apace, favoring one group of people over another. The Obama children have gone to private schools, both in Chicago and Washington, while he dooms other students to attend failure mills. Four of every five dollars from the Department of Energy alternative energy grant and loan program went to companies that were politically connected to President Obama, and wealthy supporters like Warren Buffett and George Soros benefitted nicely indeed from bailout funds. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds did not, as promised, go to those areas of greatest need but rather showed a pattern of political favoritism. Unions have been major beneficiaries of federal spending. The naivete to think that bigger government will result in greater fairness and less corruption is easily dissuaded by reading “Throw Them All Out” and “Reckless Endangerment”. As Lincoln said, the real test of a person’s character is to give him power.
Finally, to the issue of Representative Lamborn joining some of the Supreme Court Justices in boycotting the speech. Many of those who criticize him are the same ones who cheered state legislators in Wisconsin and Indiana for their boycotts. Partisanship masquerading as principle.
The author missed the most important part where Obama lammented that the American public did not act like the military and do whatever the President says without voicing any complaints.
And recall that Obama said that governing in China was easier than in the U.S. – that pesky Constitution, separation of powers, etc. This guy sounds more and more like a dictator-in-the-making.
The latest letter from Jim Messina, Campaign Manager, Obama for America:
The problem began long before this President and the solution must go deeper than simply replacing this incompetent ideologue. Mr. Obama’s massive government programs are simply a manifestation of a national government which has expanded far beyond its original constitutional bounds. We can only hope to be free of this or future administrations of its ilk when we restore the original limits on the national government which have been stripped away by Supreme Court decisions since 1937. Given how entrenched that Supreme Court jurisprudence is, our only sure method of accomplishing such a restoration will be constitutional amendments restating and reinforcing those original constitutional limits. See http://www.timelyrenewed.com.
If I were Speaker of the House, I would not have granted the President access to the Capitol. I would have told him to send his report in writing. I would not have given him the venue for this campaign speech.
Yeah, I’m a hardline Conservative.
Warreen Buffets secretary showing up for a major campaign prop takes on new significance when we find out that Buffet personally profits from the denial of the keystone pipeline, due to his railroad interests. Now both Buffets support of Obama, and the keystone decision are more fully explained. I had always thought that Obama had killed the pipeline just to curry favor with his environmentalist cronies. But now we know that it benefits Buffet as well. So Obama is able to serve 2 cronies at once, the rich environmentalists, and the even richer Buffet.
Of course he had to throw his labor cronies overboard, costing them thousands of potential union jobs, but he bought off that set of cronies with his recent NLRB appointments, including one guy who gets to simultaneously serve as a NLRB appointee, and still hold his job as a labor union bigwig. We used to complain about the revolving door, where cronies got regulatory appointments to regulate enteties that used to employ them, and would employ them again once they left the regulatory agency. But Obama has now gone one better. If you are one of his cronies, you dont even have to revolve the door, you can still keep you old job, while making regulatory decisions that benefit somebody you still actively work for. This is a work of corrupt cronyism genious, and a stunningly new innovation in the progress of corruption and cronyism. Boss Tweed would be proud.
I was surprise how hard was to find a POLL that ask you about the State of the Union speech.
I found the only one at http://www.AmericasChronicle.com
but it seems the Huntington Post visitors also found it, even though it is a conservative site.
