Here is what the president said today, regarding Israel and the Palestinians:
The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state.
Here is a map of Israel’s territorial borders as they now stand. Click to enlarge.
How does one build a “contiguous” state for the Palestinians who live on the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip, with a swath of Israeli territory between them? A corridor doesn’t seem to satisfy use of the word “contiguous.”

Simple; the Pallies choose either Gaza or the WB. Not both. Since they already have the Gaza since ’05 the matter is closed for all intents and purposes.
President Obama seems to fancy himself as a bit of an egghead as well as the master of what he does. Therefore, he can use words as he pleases.
He probably doesn’t even have to pay such words extra.
Isn’t this akin to President Obama offering Russia either California, Oregon and Washington states or Alaska. Correct?
Must be plans for a ‘skywalk”

What do you think, Luke?
Just extend the straight line of Syria’s border with Jordan to the Dead Sea, and give the land north of that line to Palestine.
I’m sure Jordan wouldn’t mind.
“based on the 1967 lines” would make perfect sense if they are discussing July 1967. The palestinians can have a contiguous state in trans-jordan, which was the majority of the British mandate for Palestine until they gave it to the Hashemites from Arabia.
However they are discussing the 1949 cease fire lines. non-starter.
