Chuck Hagel Humiliates Chuck Schumer: Obama’s ‘Good Jews’ Revisited
One person broke into a cold sweat yesterday during Chuck Hagel’s confirmation hearing for secretary of Defense — Chuck Schumer.
At least he should have.
As will be recalled, the New York senator performed a “rabbinic” function for American Jews a couple of weeks ago by privately questioning Hagel about some possibly anti-Semitic statements made by the former Nebraska senator re: “the Jewish lobby,” etc. He also queried Hagel about the nominee’s controversial views on the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Schumer then pronounced Hagel “kosher” and proceeded to his desired reward, a grand televised appearance at Obama’s right hand at the president’s second inaugural.
But forget the anti-Semitism and Iran for the moment. What we learned on Thursday is that Chuck Hagel is less qualified to be secretary of Defense than most of the students in my daughter’s high school history honors class.
Not to mince words, the former Nebraska senator is an uninformed nitwit. He’s confused about practically every issue and doesn’t even know what the administration’s policies are. (Didn’t he study for the hearing? If he did, it’s even worse.) They had to send him a note in the middle of the proceedings to remind him of the administration’s position on Iran and “containment” and even then Hagel got it wrong. Carl Levin had to explain it to him.
I have never seen a nomination hearing so humiliating. (I see why people like Hagel though. He’s kind of an affable dope. But a secretary of Defense? Better for bartender at the golf club.)
So what did Hagel tell Schumer in their private confab that so reassured New York Chuck? Perhaps Schumer will tell us now, but I doubt it. The real villains here are Schumer and, of course, Obama.
Why in the world would the president nominate such a person for such an important position? Well, I think we know — he wanted a Republican ally in gutting the Pentagon, a lackey who would give him cover for his most extreme policies. But why would Schumer betray his own co-religionists AND the country in going along with that sleazy and destructive enterprise?
You would think with the “Arab Spring” turning into an unremitting display of psychotic religious fascism and fanaticism, chemical weapons ping-ponging between Syria and Hezbollah, Egypt imploding, Iran on the brink, etc., Schumer would take his role more seriously. Evidently not. His ambition has trumped all. He, with Obama’s other “good Jews” (Lew, Emanuel, Axelrod, etc.), plays along to get along, in almost any situation.
But are they, as some suggested in the comments to my January 22 column, the equivalent of the “kapos” and “sonderkommandos” of World War II, Jews who worked for the Nazis? Of course not. Not even close. But they are extremely weak men whose ambition makes them blind to what is in plain sight and not willing to risk anything to jeopardize their position, the very essence of corruption.
Chuck Schumer’s ringing endorsement of Chuck Hagel now seems like one mammoth embarrassment. If Schumer were a man of substance or even relative decency, he would now apologize or at least distance himself in some way. This is not even a matter of political ideology at this point. It is an matter of basic honesty. Hagel is quite simply not qualified for one of the most crucial positions in our country on any level. Will Schumer admit it? If not — liberal, conservative or Zen Buddhist — he is a contemptible hack.
And what about Dershowitz? How will he react to this farce?
We’re waiting.
UPDATE: The first version of this column contained a reference to former NYC Mayor Ed Koch along with Dershowitz. Ironically and sadly, Koch died after I had written this article in Los Angeles Thursday evening and gone to sleep. Rest in peace.
More:

“— he is a contemptible hack.”
So — You saying he’s finally jumped the shark Roger? I thought Schumer had done that a long time ago but what do I know?
Just when you thought you’d seen it all when it comes to stupidity Feckless Won ups the ante one more time.
Gee, Hagel has at least one good quality for Sec. of Def. As I’ve written here several times, every former NCO in the Army knows that you don’t tell the enemy how many troops you plan to commit and/or when you plan to leave the battlefield. The last several Secretaries and every civilian librul alive don’t know about these simple no-nos.
Oh oh. Forgot: /s
Schumer is your typical self-hating Jew. In Germany they used to pretend that the death camps were recreational summer camps. In New York, my unfortuate home state, they throw fund raisers for Obama and vote for him no matter how many times he indicates that is pro-Moslem and anti-Jew. And these are the same self-rightous Jews who criticize the fiscally responsible Tea Party while they promote the Democratic Parties platform that Jersualem should not be the capital of Israel. No wonder our country is broke. The Democrats would rather accomodate terrorists than to put our house in order. What a pathetic party they have become. Thank goodness that I have left them for the Republicans. At least I don’t damage my own people while watching midle-aged Bruce Springstein and drug dealer Jay-Z. Or Beyonce lip-synching. When Obama was elected they called him a rock star. THey didn’t know that he was just a sycophantic groupie of his own narfcissism.
I couldn’t have said it better myself-I am sorry to say. Oh well thank God it’s not for ever but stupidity I’m a afraid is permanent.
Just like many Jews in Hitler’s time who supported, financed, and propped Hitler up to power, there are many Jews nowadays who are indifferent to their Jewishness(some are even self hating Jews)and worship leftism more. I believe Schumer, Emmanuel, Axelrod, Debbie, and other Democrat Jews profess to be Jews only during election time.
I live in NY and I would be happy to get rid of Schumer right along with Hagel.
Unqualified fits right in with this “laugh in” administration. And how would obama know what “qualified” is? He doesn’t know what a budget is,what a Republic is unless his handlers tell him,but he selects anti-British,anti-Israel cardboard cutout advisers anyway.{remember when Steve Martin attended a party at his friends apartment filled with cardboard cutouts?}. Now That’s Funny! Have you heard the one about the naked ballerina that became mayor or Chicago?
Anti-British and anti-Israel should not appear in the same sentence, I think. See http://clarespark.com/2009/09/11/oil-politics-and-obamas-view-of-israeli-history/. My research clearly indicates that the British never wanted to give up the Mandate, and intervened in the region via Ralph Bunche, Acting Mediator for the United Nations, who bowed to the will of the UK and the US Department of State. And today antisemitism in the UK is flourishing, while the US has never submerged its own interests to those of Israel. The essay I have linked takes us back to the 1940s, and quotes Obama’s moral equivalence thesis regarding Israelis and Palestinians.
“… the US has never submerged its own interests to those of Israel.”
I can’t imagine a situation where the interests of Israel are contrary to those of the U.S.
Neither can I envision a scenario where the interests of the U.S. would coincide with the interests of any Islamic entity, given that it is their sacred duty to destroy The Great Satan, America.
I doubt Hagel’s confused and moronic foreign policy views had anything to do with Obama’s choosing him. I think he just wanted to show the low-no-information voters that he really tries to be bi-partisan but Republicans are just too stupid to function in leadership roles. Yesterday was sort of Washington’s version of The Jersey Shore, letting the regular folks laugh at the Rupublican idiot.
I am quite certain Obama wanted a fool, and was delighted to find a vain Republican who fit the bill.
Nominating Hagel not an accident.
And I’m sure Obama is using / manipulating Senatorial Collegiality to get the tool he wants. Worked with Kerry.
Lesson learned from Benghazi: Have a high profile fall guy ready to go when the SHTF, preferably a senile Republican.
No, Obama just wants a Republican to be the fall guy when his gutting of our military and mindless promotion of our enemy’s interests results in the unmitigated disaster that it will inevitably be. We haven’t seen anything yet with this half white affirmative action President. The media is so absorbed with making this idiot look good that it doesn’t even matter what new missteps he creates. We are toast and the Communist Party of America is now in control of the whole shebang. Abject poverty will soon be affecting the majority of us. Keep printing money, Obozo, and watch everyone’s 401K turn into a 101K. Good luck with your retirements, American sheeple. See you when you leave your hovels and go to the soup kitchen line for lunch.
Nominating Hagel lets Obama to pose as the moderate adult in the room. For the low information voters (“LIV’s”) Obama nominating a republican is a sign of his bipartisanship and reasonableness. To the LIV’s only the most crazy right wing extremist would oppose Obama nominating a republican. An added benefit is the Obama gets to gut the Pentagon he so despises with republican cover. It’s actually a pretty clever move by Obama politically. The fact that it is a horrible decision with potentially disastrous consequences for the country is of no concern to Obama.
On another note is it me or does Hagel look like he has been on a 20 year drunken bender? The fact that Obama nominated this guy is scary.
I think it’s like Rush said, Obama’s secretaries are simply place holders, Obama is the one making the decisions.
Chuck Hagel will be confirmed as Secretary of Defense. Placing Hagel in that position is such a horrendous idea that this “administration” and this “legislature” will be simply unable to resist it.
There are things that no sane, rational man or woman would ever do because they make no sense. For getting such things done, we have government.
Yup, Hagel will be confirmed as the Secretary of Defense… and John Franswa Kerry will be confirmed as the Secretary of State… and that other America-Hating, Islamo-Loving POS John Brennan will be confirmed as the CIA Director…
Obama scores the Trifecta, or, the Hat Trick from Hell, if you will
They had a more horrendous idea at one time, but they then decided to use Susan Rice as a front for Hillary, and then threw her under the bus, which she didn’t really deserve. If they had made Susan Rice Secretery of State, the rumour was that they would appoint Kerry to Defence. That horrendous thought would certainly have stirred up the animals. Hint: Swift Boat magnified to the nth degree. How many officers would have wanted to serve under such a critter?
But are they, as some suggested in the comments to my January 22 column, the equivalent of the “kapos” and “sonderkommandos” of World War II, Jews who worked for the Nazis? Of course not. Not even close. But they are extremely weak men whose ambition makes them blind to what is in plain sight and not willing to risk anything to jeopardize their position, the very essence of corruption.”
They are not blind to what is in plain sight and they are not extremely weak, so your claim of “Of course not. Not even close” is specious and points to your being blind to what is in plain sight.
Pardon the bluntness, Mr. Simom, but all things should be seen exactly as they are without sentiment. You are a good man but as Machiavelli said, he who wished to process goodness (or even a lot less badness) in all things will come to ruin among so many who are not good.
‘Good intentions are no substitute for knowing how a buzz-saw works.’ – Heinlein
‘Knowledge will forever govern ignorance.’ – James Madison
‘Any fool can steer a ship when the sea is calm. – Anon.
Machiavelli knew nothing of buzz-saws, or of the 21st century technology which
builds them, but if he had been given a glimpse of that future, he would have
added a huge weighting factor to the effectiveness of knowledgeable good men
in supporting a Prince during times of trouble; Engineers beat lawyers.
Feral Cat, I am sorry to say that you misread my work. Mr. Simon is far more Machiavellian than you are. Think it through. For him to say that Schumer, et al are NOT really kapok or sonderkommandos achieves the much more powerful result of linking them with these evil fellows in the eys of the public. Have you not read Marc Antony’s speech in Julius Caesar? Of course, you have. Now be a student of mine and understand that Mr. Simon is far more subtle than you.
I agree that Simon is too kind to these weaklings. Their quest for power is so strong that the security of our nation may be put into the hands of this fool. If a person knowingly subordinates national security to their own ambitions is that not treason? If there were ANY Republicans in the Senate who had their country’s interest in mind they would call this nomination a threat to national security and call Obama out for either his incompetence or his evil intentions for selecting this idiot for this important job.
i watched the jaw-dropping hagel thing on c-span. hagel seemed, if not crazy just plain stupid. what a strange, idiotic choice.
“Give me fat sleek headed men.”
You guys are an embarassment to the Jewish religion. You spew hatred and bigotry and hide behind the Israeli flag. Even the citizens of Israel would be disgusted by your performance. I visited this website hoping that intelligence and debate would be welcomed but clearly that is not the case. What are you so scared of? That the United States might actually be progressing. That our country might actually represent the true intentions of our forefathers.
Roger, these Democrat Jews are kapos. You are too much of a gentleman to say it.
Perfectly put, Scott.
Hagel is a good choice because two reasons:
1. Good for the MB – because Hagel apparently dislikes Israel.
2. Good for Obama – because Hagel can be the fallguy and add more to discredit the GOP if things go south; and in the meantime buffer Obama’s “bipartisan” credentials, whether Hagel gets nominated or not – Obama wins.
My advice to you R.L.Simon is to connect the dots and pinpoint which cabal in DC is now joined at the hip with the MB (Islam)in their efforts to damage the U.S.A. instead of swatting at every fly that comes along. Flies usually gravitate to a turd; or at this point, TWO giant turds that are stinking up the U.S.A. with economic and political/social jihad. Who exactly are these two groups of turds??? And where do they make their beds???
I guess you will have a hard time getting feedback from Ed Koch right now, Roger, but I take your points. We are simply in a time where being a liberal Jew (or Christian, I suppose) is really dicey because the contradictions between purported beliefs and actual behaviors are stark and widening. Those like Schumer would be in a position of psychically being rended, if they were deep enough to care. Almost certainly, they are not. And Dershowitz, who is quite bright, won’t be yielding either ego or Democratism any time soon.
A good essay, Mr. Simon. But you missed a point on Ed Koch. He did indeed react to the Hagel nomination, and did so correctly and immediately.
While he was fairly criticized for the cynicism of his Obama endorsement, he (unlike Schumer)was under no illusions regarding the meaning of Hagel.
Here, from January 7′s Algemeiner:
“Frankly, I thought that there would come a time when he would renege on what he conveyed on his support of Israel,” said Koch, adding, “it comes a little earlier than I thought it would.”
“It’s very disappointing, I believe he will ultimately regret it,” Koch said, “and it undoubtedly will reduce support for him in the Jewish community, but I don’t think he (the President) worries about that now that the election is over.”
The former mayor who is beloved among many in New York’s Jewish community, said that he believes the appointment will embolden Islamists and will be damaging to the U.S.-Israel relationship.
“It’s not good,” he said, “but fortunately, Congress, overwhelmingly both Democratic and Republican supports the Jewish state, so I’m sure they will defend it against the defense department when it ruptures the current good relationship which exists.”
“I’m sure that the Arabs are drinking orange juice and toasting Hagel’s good health,” Koch said.
“I believe it will encourage the Iranian program. I believe it will encourage the jihadists. They will say ‘ah, we are winning the battle. America is beginning to desert Israel,’” he added.
Hagel isn’t the first man in the Congress to comment unfavorably on the influence of the Israeli lobby. I’m sure that when the buffoon from South Carolina, er, Senator that is, asked Hagel to name one Senator who is intimidated by said lobby, that Hagel would have love to point at the Senator from South Carolina and say, “You!”. But that would have been impolitic.
What Hagel was doing was classic “McCarthyism”: All innuendo and wink-wink-nudge-nudge, with no hard proof.
If the Israeli lobby has such a hold on Congress, then Hagel should have had no trouble naming names and citing examples. He couldn’t even name one.
I remember watching recently on television a former congressman from Alabama or Georgia saying that his experience was that much consideration was given to how some legislations would be received in Israel. There is an Israeli lobby, AIPAC. Is it feckless or effectual? My guess is that AIPAC has some influence there on Capitol Hill, and that the organization will be fully supportive of Senator Graham’s re-election campaign, judging from his ardent pandering. That Senator Hagel declined to name names is sensible. Why give offense to those who may vote for him?
If there is one of Obama’s choices who robjects to being impolite, I’d like to know about it. Mr. Obama is the biggest boor of them all. In fact, if Obama has chosen one qualified person to fill one post, I’d love to hear it. It is amateur hour in the White House – in many of the Senators and Representatives also.
Your yourself Roger have fallen into the trap of subtler form of anti-semitism.
If in fact Schumer had put the interest of his co-religionists first what would that say about his Americanism?
That would have fodder for the anti-semites as well.
You blame him for putting American interests above the parochial interests of his co-religionists?
In other words, though I despise his policies, he has been put in a lose -lose situation.
If he supports Obama he is a bad Jew. If he does not support Obama he is a bad American.
By framing the issue along the lines of his Judaism you have blinded yourself to the truth and become an unwitting pawn of the anti-semite. And I know that is not the true reflection of who you are.
Shabbat Shalom from Yerushalayim.
“If he supports Obama he is a bad Jew. If he does not support Obama he is a bad American.”
Why does supporting Obama make Schumer a bad Jew?
If he does not support Obama, maybe that makes him a bad Democrat, but a bad American? Why?
That’s more than a little harsh. Simon wants Schumer and Dershowitz to stand unequivocally for Israel. It’s perfectly fine for prominent Jews in America to stand up and say they support Israel because it makes sense, and, yes, they feel tied to the country. Seems like you’re the one yielding to the anti-Semites here.
Menachem,
You don’t seem to understand the role of a US Senator. Schumer has no responsibility to jump up and down and say yes or no in public. He has every right to quietly disagree with an appointment, ask pointed questions showing the fitness or non-fitness of the candidate. Also no one in America is shocked Jews have an affinity for Israel. They are more shocked that so many Jews don’t care even in the face of enemies that are common enemies for America and Israel.
Schumer does what he does not because he is in a tough position. He does what he does because he is a Democratic club conniver. Most people like him spend their lives in minor jobs licking boots. He excels so well at it he makes a fortune. Doesn’t make him a leader though.
For those who would be critical of Menachem’s comment, I understand the discomfort.
But what do you call a Senator that supposedly speaks in part for the best interests of the Israeli Jewish community or has taken some self-appointed, self-positioned leadership to speak for Israel as American Pol, but then clearly puts party above principle by approving a man for the Sec. of Defense that is clearly both unqualified and no friend of Israel?
I’m not insinuating Schumer is a purposeful traitor to Israel, but I am definitely stating the Schumer is a self-absorbed, self-important lout who at the very least ought to be called out on his duplicity as America’s Israeli spokesperson. Same goes for the equally hypocritical and insufferable Alan Dershowitz. You can’t play both sides of the fence without being an utter phony. Either take a principled stand for Israel or have the decency to remove yourself from the public square of debate.
There are sins of commission and sins of omission. And I don’t see any way that Schumer at the very least isn’t purposely guilty of the latter, and equally as pernicious and destructive in the end of being a foe of Israel.
My understanding of sin, is that in each case it is purposefully wrong. A sin of commission is where a person has acted immorally. A sin of omission is where a person has refused to act on a moral imperative. You list his moral flaws and then tell us they are not on purpose. A half truth is a whole lie.
To me, the sin of omission is either being ignorant of the law or failing to do something which one is able and should do, but does not do, whether for inconvenience, cowardice or lack of principle. With respect to Israel and Schumer’s support of Hagel for Sec. of Defense, it is my opinion that Schumer is indeed an unprincipled coward putting politic above principle.
However, I don’t believe Schumer of the opinion Hagel any threat to Israel and I don’t believe Schumer’s actions purposely immoral or rebellious toward Israel. Therefore, I used the term sin of omission to apply to Schumer.
Can’t see where I am wrong.
“If Schumer were a man of substance or even relative decency….”. You’ve got to be kidding!
Exactly!
” But why would Schumer betray his own co-religionists AND the country in going along with that sleazy and destructive enterprise?”
The same can be said of most every Democrat Policy…
Why would they loot the treasury TODAY, and saddle generations yet unborn with debts TOMORROW? I just cant BELIEVE liberals would consciously DO that!
Seriously Roger?
If you leave all of those anti-semitic comments aside, not to mention all of the stupid comments about Iran, the thing that struck me most about Hagel’s testimony yesterday was that he seemed so dumb. And I’m not trying to be funny here.
The man did not have a command of any major issue, he didn’t seem to know his facts about much of anything, he didn’t have a great strategic brain that could identify present or potential global threats to this nation (which would be kind of a useful thing for the Secretary of Defense to have), and he certainly wasn’t quick on his feet when answering any questions. He seemed to stumble and genuinely seemed confused at times. THIS is the guy we want running the Pentagon?
It just seems that, on sheer incompetence, this guy should be disqualified. And if the Democrats are voting for this guy simply because Obama wants them to, rather than thinking about the security of this nation and having the best candidate run the Pentagon, then they not only are pathetic hacks but they are also putting all of our lives in danger, not to mention all the people working for the Pentagon. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is treason. Anybody who knowingly assists in placing this country in danger is guilty of treason, and giving an critical job like Secretary of Defense to a incompetent fool like Hagel is treason.
Hagel has the singular quality that Obama values in a Republican:
“Yes Sir! Right away, Sir!”
I expect most Democrats to support Hagel because he is Obama’s choice and because many Republicans oppose him. A few might vote ‘no’ in protest, but only if they are assured their votes won’t hinder confirmation.
Even if every GOP senator voted against Hagel’s confirmation they aren’t likely to filibuster him, which means he’ll be confirmed. Filibustering cabinet nominees might come back to haunt them in a future GOP administration.
What’s that saying: all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing?
The GOP will do nothing. The Democrats will have to bring Hagel down, and they won’t. Obama wins either way. Either he castigates Republicans for not supporting his nominee or he dumps DOD in Hagel’s lap and lets him take the blame for future failures.
Here’s hoping I’m wrong.
These congresscritters are not, as a majority group, going to openly diss Obama, thanks to his status as an AA POTUS. Surely you have seen on the job how AA employees are treated with kid gloves & have to do really extremely egregious things before anyone considers terminating them. Low expectations rule the day here, so expect Hagel to be confirmed, as will all of Obama’s selections for everything else.
Your quote here
“Anybody who knowingly assists in placing this country in danger is guilty of treason, and giving an critical job like Secretary of Defense to a incompetent fool like Hagel is treason.”
does not take into account the US constitution’s definition of treason, which requires giving aid and comfort to the nation’s enemies. So a defense lawyer would argue first that placing the country in danger was just stupidity, next that knowingly putting the nation in danger is not the same thing as “aid and comfort”, and finally — the most hard-core defense — that without any Congressionally declared wars going on the US has no official enemies and so, strictly speaking, treason is impossible. So, you can call this guy stupid, anti-american, etc., etc. but not a traitor.
The new Secretary of State, Kerry, is a better fit for the label of traitor, but even he can rely on the defense that Congress never officially declared war on North Vietnam, and so the US had no official enemies at the time he was providing aid and comfort to the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong.
You bring up a good point. But what if Hagel’s actions, or lack of action, as Secretary of Defense, gives aid and comfort to a country like Iran, a sworn enemy of the United States? If his and Obama’s policies allow, for example, Iran to get a nuclear weapon, then wouldn’t that be a direct threat to the United States, let alone a country like Israel? There are lots of actions that you do NOT have to take that will harm us, like just allowing Iran to get a nuclear weapon. The other is knowingly reducing the size of our military so much that we become basically a paper tiger. Even Leon Panetta said that if the proposed reductions to the Pentagon go through, it would be a disaster for our military. If Hagel knowingly and willingly cuts the military so that it becomes a danger to our national security, isn’t THAT treason? Maybe.
But that’s what Obama wanted: A dumb nondescript Republican.
The Left has stereotyped Republicans as dumb and undistinguished. Obama doesn’t want to show off a Republican in his Cabinet who is brillliant, articulate and knowledgeable. That would undercut the Left’s narrative.
I’m surprised Obama didn’t choose Stephen Colbert for SecDef.
Obama wishes to surround himself with stupid people, because it makes him look smarter. It’s part of the narcissist ego problem, and is as old as time (“is it better to be a big fish in a small pond, or a little fish in a big pond?”).
Besides, they are easily controllable.
Bingo, this is exactly Obama’s MO, it is all about him, regardless of the effect on the rest of the country.
I think Hagel’s real purpose is to reinforce in voters mind that Republicans are stupid. My real problem with Hagel is that he is just not that bright, has no management experience to run a vast organization and has no discernible command of the issues abroad or at home. My other takeaway is that the man looks like a complete drunk, which may explain his problems.
The fact that Obama would nominate him either out of incompetence or for political advantage is horrifying to think about.
I believe we know how Mr. Koch reacted. Perhaps Mr. Dershowitz will follow suit.
R.I.P. Ed Koch. The man must be relieved to have exited this great stage of fools before the second act of this administration is played out.
Hagel reflects Obama’s deepest, darkest secrets…and he does it in a clown act that simultaneously makes REPUBLICANS look stupid, anti-Semitic and spectacularly uninformed.
What a Bonanza for the fifth Cartright, Little Bo.
As for Schumer, he has no principles…certainly none that align with the American people or any thinking person, Jew or Gentile. That eliminates leftist Democrats by definition…so, he has found his base. Can one be braindead and brainwashed at the same time? If so, THAT is Schumer’s constituency.
Koch is a better man at his core, but facing down peer pressure from the left takes brilliance and continuing acts of courage. This calls for men made of spectacular stuff, especially Jewish men (and women). The barrage of insults, cold shoulders, and complete shunning inside one’s community is not limited to the Amish.
Schumer and his ilk are worse than kapos. Leading people out of the hands of Hitler into the hands of Stalin would not be heroes. If they did so knowingly, they would be criminals.
Judenrat. That is the word Mr Simon must have been groping for. Now you have it.
We actually DO have such men, but few of them are in politics, more’s the pity. To my astonishment, they’re in showbiz. David Mamet comes to mind…
There’s a long answer and there’s a short answer. The short answer is that Schumer is a putz. The long answer is that Schumer is a schmuck. Admittedly this is a Talmudic distinction.
You really know how to hurt a guy!
Excellent!
Yes, but he gets re-elected time after time after time. How and why is that? For then would it not appear that his supporters are no better than he? That’s where the issue becomes quite sticky.
ROFLMAO! Thank you for that, Carla! Made my day…
This is no surprise. Most of Obama’s appointments are similarly stupid idealogues just like him. Kerry will surpass Hillary by a large margin as the worst Sec of State in history I have no doubt. This is Obama’s MO so if one believes he is out to destroy the country what better way than to be surrounded by incompetent fools lie Hagel and Kerry. You are half way there.
Agreed.
And, please remember the alarming broader thought about just who Obama’s lemming like, auto-claque, and automaton-like constituency is made from:….the ill-educated or un-educated young, hip, entitled, single parent on welfare, illegal immigrant, “Yes! I Can!” attitude-exhibitionist, nouveau arriviste ….gimme gimme gimme set……which apparently is a growing majority in our country to the growing detriment of the rest of us voters who at least try to be thoughtful in our voting.
We’re in for a long, hard and dangerous trip until we can organize and field a loyal opposition of conservatives….all of these terms being used here despite their being now rather quaint and smirk inducing.
It hasn’t always been that way in our America.
fwiw, Schumer chaired the inauguration committee, which is why he got
“a grand televised appearance at Obama’s right hand at the president’s second inaugural.”
ALL the Senators who pre-judged Hagel should have waited for the hearing, because the objections about temperament obviously made it impossible for Hagel to stay polite AND answer questions.
Once McCain pushed all the buttons, as only a former friend can do, Hagel flailed.
Obama’s base, especially LGBT, and women, was disposed to oppose Hagel until the neo-cons jumped on Israel and Iran.
Of course, if Obama really wanted some bipartisanship, he would have nominated Evan Bayh for SecDef, and Sheila Bair for SecTreas.
The Hagel nomination has more than one purpose. Viewed politically, it has at least three — and it might be the clearest demonstration yet of Obama’s determination to destroy all resistance to his unfettered rule.
Read your blog entry, Francis. It’s very good. I think it’s a pretty clever nomination, all in all. As you say, he panders effectively to his face. He rewards that base and promises them more mischief. Regarding Obama’s intelligence, I hardly think it’s impressive but, as you say, there are cleverer people working the game for him, including Emanuel. Jarrett, etc.
I don’t think Ed Koch reacte too well to Hagel’s performance…he just croaked.
Now if only Schumer….
How will Mr. Koch respond? He died. That’s pretty conclusive wouldn’t you agree?
But not quickly enough to save some from listening to his big fat stupid maw which no doubt convinced the stupid Jew lefties from voting for the compulsive liar in the White House. No doubt there will be many thousands of words written about the former Mayor Koch in the next few days. He stopped being anything but a public nuisance and a vaudeville act years ago. He did a lot of mischief along the way and quite frankly when I heard the news, I rejoiced. It’s too late in the day not to be glad when someone who has proven themselves to be too VAIN, too IN LOVE WITH THEMSELVES, and too wrapped up in their own myth making to give a damn about what their words and actions have wrought, finally bites the dust. Good riddance.
What a terribly vindictive and petty post to make upon anyone’s death.
What had he done to you to provoke such an outburst?
I guess, better not attempt any answer.
I’m now on board the Obama Reelection Express. – Sep 27, 2011
Really? Upon ANYONE’S death? That means you would not rejoice if anyone died? What kind of a fool are you? Eddie Koch was a huge phony whose big mouth led credence to the Clinton Administration and the Obama debacle. When someone is that evil or STUPID and their actions have terrible consequences for the rest of us, then their permanent silence is a reason to rejoice. What human being in their right mind doesn’t give thanks when an impediment to their well being has been removed? Said a prayer for Osama, did you? Honesty is painful to endure but it takes courage to speak the truth. Try it instead of posturing and posing in the vain hope that you would appear to be a better individual than I. There are too many like you in this country. Too damned concerned about what others will think of them should the obvious be stated.
Charlie,
Koch and The Dinkster drove New York to the brink of insanity with their foolish priorities and mismanagement.
Of the two, Koch was only slightly less repulsive.
And I will Joyously celebrate the death of both,
(god willing, as The Dinkster is still with us I believe)
just as I will celebrate the death of all Evil Political Influences that bring harm and misery with their arrogance and false piety, luxuriously funded and fawned over, with my taxes.
It is the simple, singular Righteous Pleasure one has, when ruled by such despicable men as they.
To revel in the opportunity is nothing to be ashamed of.
If we were indeed Patriots, we would have hastend the day with the Judicious Use of a Strong Rope.
That we endure their “service” without availing ourselves of such remedies,
they should THANK US.
BTW, I’m no mindless partisan.
News of Mr.Bloomberg suffering a massive parlyizing stroke would be met with tears of laughter from me.
Because I know the Smug and Dismissive attitude they all have for us was best illustrated by Schmuck Biden in the debate.
They despise us.
And we cheer news of their demise.
My Goodness! What civility! What warmth of ye citizenry!
Each of you should be ashamed of what you individually and collectively contribute to the reputation [now apparently richly deserved] of Noo Yawk being such a rude rough place to have to live…..to have to watch your backs deep inside one of your subway stations.
Probably not necessary to mention that caution…..is it bred locally? Hogarth would love to bring his sketch pad and observe you knuckle-draggers go about your daily routines.
Please consult the ACTUAL blood on the hands of the Left…
The union goons, thugs, OWS’ers and Terrorist Bombers like Bill Ayres,
who routinely use ACTUAL violence to promote their agenda…
Before bunching your panties over some strong language from The Right on a web site.
Are you a Left Wing Apologist, or just the garden variety Low-Information Hypocrite?
You must be on of those “stupid Jew lefties” that Betina was referring to.
Obviously. Not.
I’m going to Quebec Winter Carnival. You just keep talking death and honesty and stuff.
There are only two types of people who use “Jew” (as opposed to “Jewish”) as an adjective:
1. Flat-out, nasty, anti-semites.
2. People who don’t know any better.
I will hopw #2 is the correct answer.
“But why would Schumer betray his own co-religionists AND the country in going along with that sleazy and destructive enterprise?”
Are you kidding me?
Why does our side continue to ask ridiculous questions like this AS IF we don’t know the answer? As if, if you could just show the Schumers of the world their error they would somehow see the light of reason and do something different. I repeat: Are you kidding me?
Chuck Schumer, Barak Obama, Pelosi, Reid and absolutely every single Democrat of national prominence – and a very good percentage, though probably a minority, of all Dem voters are wicked people bent on power and domination who care not a wit for America. In fact, they are working to destroy America so that they might rule the shell of a thing that survives their operation of destruction.
Get it straight and let’s quit lying: Schumer hates this country (or at least loves Schumer more than anything); Obama hates this country; Pelosi, Reid et al hate this country.
The fight is not against a Defense Secretary or a nominating process. It is against Mordor for goodness sakes.
No, Schumer does not hate this country. He is convinced his ideas are correct, so any contrary opinions are wrong and to be dismissed, crushed or ignored.
Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity. Or self interest.
I strongly agree with your sentiment Mark.
There’s absolutely no reason whatsoever to assume that people with strongly differing views on politics necessarily do not love their country as much as we do.
There is enough true evil in this world such that we don’t need to confuse those who are simply misguided (Schumer) with those who wish death and destruction (the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, for example).
A more difficult case however would be, how to classify Obama(?) I do think he hates (on some level) the USA. But he may be one of these people who thinks that ultimately he’s doing “good” for the country by tearing down this or that structure first. If so, he’s still one notch “better” than a person who wishes and works for outright death and destruction.
I mean, there’s no reason to exaggerate. All we need to do is recognize that people can still do plenty of damage even with noble intentions.
For the two of you above:
I am not talking about different opinions here, attributing evil to the one different from mine.
Schumer et al are not evil because they are wrong. They are evil because they are wrong because they are evil. They do evil things and hold obviously evil positions because they are bad people.
How can I say this? They lie, slander, cheat and steal. That is their number one “policy”. Everything is in service of that.
Schumer is a liar. he slanders others (and has for years) out of habit or for the sport of it or to further himself. That’s evil. The rest are the same. ALL national Dems are and currently there are no exceptions. Period.
There was a time when you could say all Nazis are evil. Period. Dems are the equivalent in the US today. Period. Not in degree obviously, but in kind.
Change the circumstances a bit, they will be in degree too. You can bank on it. And that is the reason to tell the truth about them now and call them what they are.
Please do not say, “They all do it”, meaning Republicans too. First, they do not all do it. Second, even if that were true it would only mean we were worse off than I thought. It would not change one iota the materiel and objective fact that Schumer et al are evil people bent on destroying this country.
Motives are notoriously difficult to assess. That is why progressives have dedicated so much effort to making motives (e.g., hate crimes and insanity pleas) critical to determining outcomes in US case law. They want to hide their own desired criminal activity behind false motives (e.g., altruism). They believe that lies, slanders, and much worse activities in the name of progressivism, are ok. The end justifies the means in their minds. It is one major reason why case law should be discarded entirely. Every criminal case should be judged entirely on its own merits (no stare decisis). Why should some crooked judge be able to affect all future cases? Motives should only be considered when they represent responses to adjudged criminal activity (e.g., there might be leniency for a crime committed in response by a victim of a convicted criminal). Spouse abuse comes to mind.
I believe that aiding, abetting, or committing felonies against innocent people are all equivalent crimes that deserve identical punishments, regardless of the motives of the accused. Shumer is a traitor who has not been charged with his crimes against our Republic. Under our current corrupt system, he may never be. If the citizens of our Republic ever decide to speak up for what is right, useful idiots and criminal politicians, beware!
Don’t hold your breath while you wait.
Much more concerned about Hagel/Obama’s childish views on the US nuclear arsenal. Global Zero is the project of simpletons or saboteurs.
“Not to mince words, the former Nebraska senator is an uninformed nitwit.”
“There is something almost charming about the left’s habit of using childish name-calling….”
– Seth Mandel in Commentary
To quote the great and uniformed poseur HillelA …
hang on, HillelA does not have words of his own …
that would mean It actually thinks
“There is something almost charming about the left’s habit of using childish name-calling….”
That self-hating (one presumes, from the name, and the tone, tenor, and content of It’s “contributions”) Judenrat has once again “graced” us with what passes (and I use that term in all it’s alimentary meaning) for wit and wisdom.
It is difficult to imagine life without HillelA.
I would be nice to be able to do so with less difficulty.
Still, the Ghetto It lives in has not yet been wiped out, and It has not yet been sent, shocked and horrified that It should, after being so very loyal to Der Fuhrer, be treated like all the common Jews.
From our lips to God’s ears.
“There is something almost charming about the left’s habit of using childish name-calling….”
– Seth Mandel in Commentary
… about the way It repeats Itself repeating Itself quoting someone else because It lacks the intelligence and and imagination to do otherwise.
It’s not childish name-calling when Hagel really *is* an uninformed nitwit.
So it is the Jews fault again! I remember the same song playing when Bush was president.
The best thing for O is to have Hagel refused by the senate. He could then say…”Those obstructionist Republicans… I have tried to nominate a bipartisan cabinet and they…” you get the gist.
Then he gets to nominate the loony of his choice.
(Note who is doing Hagel in? Not O’s boys or girls)
ta
“As will be recalled, the New York senator performed a “rabbinic” function for American Jews … by privately questioning Hagel about some possibly anti-Semitic statements … Schumer then pronounced Hagel “kosher”…”
I have long suggested that the Circle-D symbol of the Democrat party is an attempt to poach on the O-U branding of the Orthodox Union, the largest kashrut certification agency in the world.
Lol
Because Jarrett.
I’ve read that Barack is very hands on in the area of micromanaging his various secretaries of this or that.
Unusual for Barack to be hands on about anything, but makes sense that his various appointees like Hagel and Kerry wouldn’t have to evince much of anything in the way of personal qualities/talent, but only be willing and sycophantic automatons, each day awaiting their personal marching orders.
Chuck Schumer has amply demonstrated his “character” (lack thereof) over the years.
From Harry and Nancy, both ways up and down the food chain, it’s hard to imagine a bigger cast of bumblers running the ship of state.
Schmuck Chuer is following in Ed Koch’s footsteps, albeit not fast enough.
Obama’s policy of dismantling as much a of the military as possible does not need a genius to assist him – only a functionary.
No one should dance on Ed Koch’s grave. RJC today called him a “patriot”. He was also a great public servant.
Still, how sad that his last public utterance was an admission that he knew all along that President BHO was a double-dealer. It could be the political epitaph for his generation of American Jews.
He said as much, and was honest enough that I believe him.
He was also a Democrat.
Could loyalty to his party of choice have driven him to want to be as loyal as possible to the President who is of that party?
Have you no friend or family member you are disappointed with but have tried to remain loyal to?
To be fair, ‘Hizzoner was a Democrat at a time when there were still adults in that party. At the end, he didn’t break but was more vocal in his criticism than most. Damning with faint praise I suppose.
When it comes to negative takes on Israel as well as what Chuck Hagel said yesterday affirming the “legitimacy” of Iran’s government, it’s safe to say that both John Brennan (former National security adviser and Obama’s appointee to head the CIA) and Chuck Hagel share the boss’ positions.
Thank God the idiot Lisa Jackson at EPA was caught fabricating a phony, secret email account for below the radar “exchanges” (illegal) and will be replaced, but it seems likely sycophants like Sebelius, Napolitano (“grab some scissors if you’re caught in a mass shooting crossfire”) and Eric “the idiot” Holder will be hanging around for awhile.
I’m going to step up and take offense on behalf of golf club bartenders everywhere.
hagel wants israel destroyed
obama, ditto
schumer couldn’t care less
most american jews are brain dead
‘But are they, as some suggested in the comments to my January 22 column, the equivalent of the “kapos” and “sonderkommandos” of World War II, Jews who worked for the Nazis?’
The behavior of Chucky & Co may or may not be compared to the kapos. But It’s bad enough not to see Obama and Hagel for what they are. The worst as an antisemites the best as incompetent fools
Schumer should look up th history of court jews. They always think they are indispensible and will be protected by their gentile masters. Yet they are always the first ones thrown to the mobs.
If the tone and content of these comments are appropriate, then how could it be that the vast majority of the international community looks to Pres Obama, Sec Kerry, and Sec-designate Hagel as representative of the best that America offers? I have visited Oxford, Cambridge, and leading universities in France and Italy — the best and brightest of students find hope in the vision offered by these American leaders and statesmen. Can they all be truly wrong, and the present readers be right? The young people of the Western world, as on American campuses, yearn for peace in our time.
They do, they do. So let them have it!
“the vast majority of the international community looks to Pres Obama, Sec Kerry, and Sec-designate Hagel as representative of the best that America offers”
You got a link for that?
Yeah, didn’t think so…which means your comments premise is anecdotal…and that means you are full of shit.
If true (and I suspect it is), it is further evidence that elite Western anti-Semitism is at its highest level since the Holocaust.
I can only speak as a Christian and I watched most of the hearing yesterday and found the former Senator Hagel more stupid than ever before. Most of us hardly considered him a Republican, but this article was mostly about Schumer so I again must ask how does a Jew vote for a leftist like Obama. Or be a Democrat for that matter. Jews more than anyone should believe in the freedoms provided by the smaller government of most of the GOP. How did this happen..evolve?
As a Christian, you already know the answer. I used to ponder this question, as it makes no sense to those of clarity at first glance. Until you consider the history.
Why are so many who call themselves Christian voting for Obama? Why is our country failing? No different, really.
As talented as Jews are as a people, and I think it indisputable that they are most certainly blessed above others to the point I would call it supernatural, being Jewish doesn’t prevent you from being deceived. Think back to the very formations of Israel, the ebb and flow of victory and defeat. When they followed the hierarchical rules, Jews were invincible. When they backtracked and followed the secular mob as is all of man’s nature, Israel was not only defeated but scattered and decimated. Moses understood this. So did Joshua and Caleb. I think it fair to say most Jews today, at least in America, do not. But there is a remnant, and I have noted some are on this very board, who understand the stakes, whose eyes are open, and understand what’s at play.
These progressive Jews? Naive enough to believes themselves bullet proof, but allied with their enemy. Probably no different than it was 80 years ago in Europe if I were to guess. Envy at their success, easy targets to blame for the instability and failure, unable to identify their enemy and most marginalizing their only real supporters, their own excesses providing ample ammunition as a prelude to destruction. All the world’s a stage or soon will be. The signs couldn’t be any more clear. If you’re a student of the Bible. And being a student of the Bible, I think I could make a good argument Jews are the most persecuted people in the history of the planet. So you have to ask yourself why?
There’s nothing new under the sun and history is playing towards its ultimate climax. I’m completely convinced of that. Israel will one day stand completely by itself – but though wounded, she won’t be defeated. Oh, it will come as the most terrible of surprises to a majority of the world as they are laid to waste.
All that remains is to remove Israel’s support from the stage. It would appear to me that blaming Jews for what ails us isn’t just a domestic issue, but a global one.
Perhaps Obama is right where he was intended to be? But I have noted that some of the secular are beginning to see the light. Believe this is a sign too, and believe that is also mentioned.
Just a thought.
Tex,
Magnificent.
” Envy at their success, easy targets to blame for the instability and failure, unable to identify their enemy”
Absolutely, they mirror the West in general. As precursors to my Christian faith, I have no problem with calling them the foundation of Western Civilization.
We are both unable to identify our enemies , for our successes make conflict undesirable, make war a dirty business we (pray?) can be overcome with the material wealth OF our successes.
I think its that hubris, that hope, that is the animating failure of The Left. Strange how such foolish sentiments permeate the “rich and successful”, and how a good percentage of them, are Jews.
‘how does a Jew vote for a leftist like Obama’
simple
a) we the Jews are our own worst enemies.
b) we are not smart as people think we are
c) we are unable to learn from history
May I attempt a reply?
a) Yes, and our own best allies. We know at the end of the day it was nobody else to save us. Two days ago IAF fighters took a big chance to protect Jews from Ethiopia, Yemen, Russia, America, Haredi, Atheiest, Gay liberals… against some who want to destroy us.
b) IQ is everywhere on the planet. I am sure there is some kid in Somalia who could find the cure for Malaria if she had the chance. Jews have done well in that department and implementation of technology. The G-d almighty has blessed all his creation with this gift of intelligence. We should use it wisely.
c) My friend, we make history. My collective memory goes back to Abraham. Whole civilizations have came and went. Now we are something which is still astonishing after so many years, and a pain in many people’s collective ass.
I think you have a great post and do not intend do denigrate what you said.
Shabbat Shalom
But not in mine (pain in the ass, that is).
I consider it a privilege to live in these times. Because I see a fulfillment that the world doubted would ever exist. Where are the scoffers now?
You have to be a most calloused individual to look at Israel and not recognize a miracle. From the ashes of the Holocaust to the small country that demands the entire world’s attention with Jerusalem the main event, most of that happening in my lifetime. A rose in a desert where there should be none, a city that has no rhyme or reason to demand the world’s attention. But it does.
I don’t find that simply coincidence.
You are a beautiful guy. Really. Would that we would be so appreciate of our own as you are of us. OTOH, I guess the Christians like to rip each other apart as well…
Come visit.
Forgive me, but most Chareidim – like myself – are as pro-Israel as you can get. Read Mispaca or Hamodia (available in the State in Engliah), for example. Just because I don’t accept the foundation principles of te State doesn’t mean I don’t knwo what would happen if our enemies got the upper hand.
Not as intelligent as people think we are? Boy is that ever an understatement.
The problem is Jews are herd animals just like everyone else. And any good member of a herd will happily follow it a cliff to its own death rather than risk being ostracized by thinking differently than the rest of the herd.
I’m now completely convinced Obama is simply a puppet, a figure head, a mouthpiece. But whoever is pulling the Obama strings is quite shrewd, and I’m not convinced it is Emmanuel, Axelrod or Jarrett either. None of those mentioned has struck me as any brighter or deeper than Obama – just stooges of like mind riding the coattails to riches, their only real gift manipulation of the mob and paying for mined data to gain reelection.
Somebody smart enough to stroke the massive Obama ego for years, perhaps pinpointing years ago the perfect caricature that could be empowered with title of President and do the dirty work, Obama the wooden dummy of like mind with enough superficial credential to make the rubes stand up and swoon. Obama has to have something you don’t have, but unprincipled enough you can use his gifts to your advantage.
I’ve got somebody in mind that, a name that always comes up in conversation but unlike Obama, hates the camera. Doesn’t have the panache, but he’s got the plan with a living history.
If your intent is to radically change western civilization, reset the power, manipulate the currency, monopolize the monies, and hold such stroke you go unchallenged, the first thing you need is a team you can mold to eliminate your adversaries. You probably wouldn’t want to be highly visible while doing so. You let your lackeys run interference, happy to let them take credit as you smart enough to recognize the eventual big winner is you.
And if I am right, Hagel is the perfect fit for Sec. of Defense.
(1) Hagel’s titled a Republican – the guise of bipartisanship and Obama’s claims to want to work with Republicans, providing additional ammunition to a gullible American public believing it is not Obama that is at fault for lack of cooperation, but the evil tea party.
(2) Hagel is obviously a Muslim sympathizer, as are the rest of Obama’s cabinet. There will be no resistance in the tacit disapproval of Israel’s sovereignty, small steps to eventually cut ties in conjunction with a corrupted U.N.. You have to demonize Israel before you can let Israel hang. You don’t declare war on Israel, as that too obvious. But you take small, tacit steps to weaken Israel. “When he’s reelected, he’s got more flexibility.”
(3) Hagel is not terribly bright or principled – more fodder and clay to easily mold, not terribly well known outside the state of Nebraska.
Let’s face it. Europe is old and corrupt. Japan not much of a leader. China is still Communist. South America is 3rd world. The supposed bastions of Muslim democracy a ruse. The only thing really standing in the way of domination besides America, smart enough to see through the manipulation, is Israel.
“I’ve got somebody in mind that, a name that always comes up in conversation but unlike Obama, hates the camera. Doesn’t have the panache, but he’s got the plan with a living history.”
Are you referring to Soros? Please elaborate if you can.
Yes, I was referring to Dear Old George. I see that he admitted as much.
I have no real understanding of the entire Soros cabal, but I most definitely believe Mr. Soros right there pulling the Obama strings, if not directly, then indirectly through Obama’s cabinet.
And since Soros doesn’t strike me as someone comfortable gaining permissions or approval, I suggest you’re looking at the head of the snake.
Of course I am in control But we all knew that, didn’t we?
Hey Tex Taylor, I believed there is and has been a ‘man’ behind the POTUS. Since the reaction to all smart people was that I am out of my mind, I decided to make some money while being a wacko so I put the idea into a work of Speculative Fiction, Nikita. It sells well globally and I am now considered an artist, not a wacko conspiracy theorist.
Take a look and enjoy.

Axelrod is much more of a leftist than Jewish. That’s his true religion, and it trumps all else. I think it is a much bigger factor with him than ambition. As for Dershowitz, I get the sense that with him, as with fairly silent AIPAC, a lot of his behavior is based on the fear that if he and others like him attack Obama, he’ll get much worse.
COMING NEXT: Tony Villar..real name…(aka Anthony Villaraigosa), L.A.’s Mayor, will be nominated for Secretary of Transportation. He’s qualified because he had something to do with bike lanes in L.A. Remember, he’s the one at the DNC who called for the “God” vote on the Democrat platform 3 times. What a joke.
Saw the video of Hagel’s testimony; how did this guy get elected to the US Senate in the first place? He was embarassing in his fumbling and bungling. Can even Democrats and former Republican collegues place our national defense in this man’s hands?
I’d like to remind Schumer and Axelrod and their ilk that those who would destroy Israel will go on to destroy all Jews, they will not be spared. The Nazi’s did not differentiate, they rounded up all Jews regardless of social position, or wealth. They rounded up medical doctors and scientists, professions needed for the war effort and murdered them.
Oh, a few did escape, Soros himself was so enthusiastic and vicious aiding the Nazi’s they not only spared him, but made him an honorary Nazi!
Wake up America!
What I’ve learned over the years is there is no loyalty in your tribe. As MLK said it is not the color of your skin but content of your character. Shumer is a moron.
One thing you’ve got to admit, peoples.
You Republicans can always be counted on to make lemons out of lemonade.
You fixated on the Chuck Hagel’s confirmation process, a serviceable if not honest Q and A session from a past war hero who will make an absolutely splendid, Hillaryesque Secretary of Defense.
His first action I hear will be, to help lower the ObamaCare premiums, to call for the drastic shrinking of the service academies, including West Point, The Air Force Academy and the Naval Academy. Of course, there are still some militaristic Americans that will resist this. So Obama will have to spoon feed the destruction of the academies. And the media will have to make a major case for it.
But getting back to your fixation yesterday of the Hagel confirmation session which turned into another big media gaffe for Republicans.
Huge media gaffe.
That’s because you Republicans missed a golden opportunity to publicize in front of the nation another embarrassing Democratic deception.
No, I’m not talking about Benghazi or Operation Fast and Furious, two actions that would have gotten any other President impeached of America had a diligent press.
I’m talking about the shocking news about ObamaCare premiums that the Republicans turned into no news at all.
Republicans spend their day flapping their gums, questioning Chuck Hagel’s competence, as the former Army Vietnam Sergeant war hero deftly parried their every thrust.
In the end, for the Republicans it became an experience in frustration as they even had to resort to asking Chuck Hagel to respond to an inaudible video from ten years ago. Nobody could understand it because it made no sense.
The point of my writing, though, is to point out that the Republicans let the damning news of the day on ObamaCare slip through their fingers.
You had the national spotlight and pulled the plug on yourselves.
You know what I’m talking about. Or you should.
Hastened by recent and damning revelations that the cheapest ObamaCare health policy premium will be slightly more than $20,000 per family of four, ObamaCare is ripe for the pickens.
Remember when Obama’s sweet words intoned the fact that ObamaCare would lower premiums; that you could keep your present insurance if that was what you wanted.
As anybody with half a brain should have realized, was a bold faced ObamaLie, which the anointed one can do because the New York Times along with the mainstream doesn’t print anything negative on Obama.
Yesterday, if the Republicans had turned the national spotlight on that instead of Hagel, the embarrassment to Obama would have been enormous; enough maybe to turn public opinion against the anointed one in a serious way.
But Republicans in all their media denseness, wrongheadedness and dumbness chose not to talk about Obama’s insurance fiasco, which would conceivably put a nail in Obama’s political coffin. Instead they questioned slippery Chuck who played rope-a dope dumb.
Meanwhile, Americans who didn’t change the channel simply watched and yawned.
This annual $20,000 ObamaCare premium (family of 4) revelation
serves really as an admission about the failure of ObamaCare before it begins.
Don’t you get it?
ObamaCare was just a ploy to move America to a progressive/socialistic/communistic one payer system.
This from a President who, as I already stated, swore to the American people that ObamaCare would lower your family’s premiums; that you could keep your present insurance if you so desired.
Republicans who believed the ObamaFabrications could be sold the Brooklyn Bridge.
To seal the deceptive deal, once again, the lapdog media dutifully reported the lies like they were dogma.
When you elected Obama, you didn’t just get a marvel at media manipulation, but you got the most expensive, useless, feckless health care system imaginable.
And trashed the best one on earth.
Are you Americans as dumb as you seem?
You sacked yourself with higher health insurance premiums than you ever dreamed of.
And you can’t turn to Medicare to bail you out. In 22 short months, Medicare will be totally bankrupt. Just in time for ObamaCare to take your wallet to the cleaners.
What you’ll end up with is the wondrous communist one payer system, which is another major break from the America you used to know and the Amerika whose citizens have more in common with Communist Cubans than American citizens as little as ten years ago.
Patriotic, red blooded America, the country hundreds of thousands have died for on the alter of freedom is going going gone, squandered by countless Americans who like Germans in 1939, swallowed the big lie. Voted for Obama.
I believe in Communism. I believe in Barack Obama. But I never believed so many Americans would swallow the party line hook line and sinker. American woman must be the dumbest on earth to have voted for a true communist like Obama. I can’t stop laughing that women can be so dumb.
I don’t mind people having different political views. I haven’t minded being a mole in America. The old America was very comfortable. Freedom actually is a nice life style.
But for some reason, Americans decided to wrap chains around themselves and lock them with the Obama provided handcuffs.
Now you’ll suffer for it.
The America you knew. The American Dream your children had hoped for has been torpedoed broadside by Obama. May she rest in piece while you dimwits try to figure out how to pay for a doctor’s visit.
No, not quite. Many of us made mention of that here yesterday and in fact I personally used it as retort to one of PJMedia’s most ignorant Leftists still bellowing about the need for single payer system last night. You’ve come to the right conclusion, but you’ve missed both the date of the infamy and the premise as to why it doesn’t raise the red flag.
$20,000 for the healthcare would and will fall on deaf ears. Let us remember, this President has already laid more debt than that on not just a family, but each citizen, children included, in four years.
No, it’s not the majority of the board here that is dimwitted. It’s the people who reelected abject failure even with our constant and loud warning. They are unteachable. The aren’t dimwitted. They are certifiably insane.
Let the bill come due. Because the only thing the insane will understand is the realization of monetary pain. It’s long overdue for these Obama supporters to gain a measure of consequence for their vote.
The date was November 6, 2013. That was the day of American Pie.
Hagel is no more nor any less qualified than the cast of buffoons appointed by Mr. Obama.
Mr. Hagel is not the issue, the issue is the agenda or ignorance of the man nominating him.
I vote for an Agenda!
Like Roosevelt, Obama needs a really big war to bail out his tookus. Hagel is simply the placing of one more pawn on the chess table.
As for the Israel/Jewish thing…I assume the 70% or so Jews who voted Mr. Obama into his position for the second time knew what they were getting and opted for it hook, line and sinker.
Yeah, but like the stupid liberals who dont understand we’re being bankrupted with deficit spending, its dragging MY kids into an abyss they dont want to go into.
They may get what “they deserve”, but their stupid voting habits are hell on the rest of us.
Re:
“Like Roosevelt, Obama needs a really big war to bail out his tookus. Hagel is simply the placing of one more pawn on the chess table.”
No, no. no…absolutely not. Obama is simply a petulant child.
not at all, mr. bodell
american jews knew very well what they were doing
voting overwhelmingly for obama
in 2008, and in 2012, likewise
they love him more than one can possibly imagine
and for very good reason
obama is their god
a beautiful god
a god they can see
obama malkeinu
they are willing to die for him
if that is his wish
obam’ adonenu
they are his good jews
and that is his wish
but there are unbelievers among them
stubborn, stiff-necked jews
as in generations before
who refuse to acknowledge him
obama malkeinu
who refuse to die for his sake
who call him a false god
a god who lies
a god who cheats
a god who is not god
but an enemy of the jews
and they are despised
and are doomed
to wander the earth
as eternal pariahs
as they justly deserve
I’m surprised that they haven’t yet spun it by saying that Hagel is evidence of why the Lightworker hasn’t appointed more Republicans or tried harder to work with them. They just aren’t competent enough to serve in a modern progressive administration.
He chooses one Republican, one who is a known dope, and the guy tanks. You then proceed to tar all Republicans with that. Have you looked at everyone else Obama has nominated/appointed? Bernanke. Geithner. Chu. Dunn. Van Jones. On and on and on. The common factor here is Obama. It’s just like the guy who has all the crazy ex’s. The common factor is him. Obama chose this guy.
Do not try to blame it on the Republicans. God knows, they tore him apart. They did not go easy on him. They were competent enough to show Hagel’s incompetence. Besides, do you think any competent Republican would accept Obama’s nomination to be his hatchet man at the Pentagon? Really?
no I didn’t. It was an obvious joke. You’re usually smarter than that.
But since you mention it, 99% of Republicans are either grossly incompetent, or more probably, only marginally less criminal than the marxists.
Or on third thought, both.
Glasses are becoming the thing for hearings it seems ,hillary wore them to back up her fable about falling down and bumping her head, and hagel put on glasses for the first time in front of a camera to look intellectual, the glasses failed to impress anyone, yet both were astoundingly uninformative about anything except their total lack of qualification for any responsible position.
We share the bond of Western Civilization with the Israelis.
The multi-culti left of which Obama is a member hates Western Civilization. He sent the Churchill bust back to Great Britain.
Hagel comes at it from the opposite direction. His Vietnam experience showed him that unlike Nebraska the rest of the world is freaking horrible. He wants to keep America untangled from other peoples problems — most notably the Israelis.
He avoids consideration that the Mullahs would just as soon kill us as kill the Isralis.
He drew the incorrect conclusions from his confrontation with evil in Vietnam.
Those are very good point. Yes, I think that you have hit on what separates conservative isolationists from leftist isolationist. Leftists tend to believe that the U.S. is exploiting and oppressing various native peoples of the rest of the world. Conservative isolationists tend to believe that the rest of the world is so screwed up, we should not have anything to do with it.
I tend to agree with this:
“Conservative isolationists tend to believe that the rest of the world is so screwed up, we should not have anything to do with it.”…..I’d add, rather desperately, because…because… that we simply don’t have the money to keep aiming our United States Dollar Open Hire Hydrant in their direction any longer….any longer. It’s a vortex.
We never seem to think that these “Haiti’s” of the rest of the world have been that way for centuries, except for whatever bewildering benevolences dribbled down from Colonialism such as French and British legal systems with actual Courts rather than limb-amputating corridors, along with functioning monetary systems administered from London and Paris.
However, when European Colonialism collapsed in exhaustion after the Second World War, what was left was Indo-China, Pakistan and India, and North plus sub-Saharan Africa…add to them the Sykes-Picot Mandates of Central/West Asia……they’re simply gradually reverting to basket-case entities with their artificial boundaries hand drawn in Paris and London. Grossly overpopulated, disease ridden, corruption ridden, reverting to the norm of centuries earlier.
Arguably, the Spanish, Portuguese and British areas of Canada [with its French pocket] New Zealand, Australia and …lo….the United States…. have managed to rise above their aboriginal states, but together, we simply do not have the money to carry the rest of the world.
Some may remember George Catlett Marshalls’ Plan. Those shiploads of U.S. Dollar cash fell into fertile, prepared fields. [...you're welcome, Europe...], not so in “the rest of the world”.
Now…just look at this duo – Hagel and Kerry….with the smug Obama leaning back in his chair in our Oval Office.
Foreign Aid has always been a small part of the budget.
Without foreign aid the egyptians will literally starve.
Right now the state department is putting the screws to the Egyptians in order to control them.
Word is that Hagel was a “snake eater” back in the day meaning that he was a special forces guy who lived off the land while hunting Charlie in the rice paddy.
Now he probably haunts the Washington DC steakouses, along with his fellow midwesterners.
In contrast the President no doubt happily munched down a few snakes as a pleasant break from a steady diet of dogmeat back in his old Indonesia days.
In my crappy public schooling I never learned about Western Civilization. Now I think we abandon it at our own peril.
Bingo!
“In my crappy public schooling I never learned about Western Civilization. Now I think we abandon it at our own peril.”
OF COURSE! Light bulb moment.
I throw up my hands at the possibility that such a statement can even be made. This betrays my age….I’m an octogenarian, Public School educated native Washingtonian. That’s District of Columbia. Thanks, Huntington Park, for your candor. We need much more of that in general applications. It explains the adolescent comments routinely appearing at the end of articles in The Washington Post.
And, these Congressional Hearings.
Think Hagel looked bad? Like some guy who took LSD every day while a teenager. So dumb he has to go to a dressing room to change his mind.
Yes. He’s a flake, a moron who’s lost what mind he had when he became a Obama lover; more brain dead than the cult freaks under the Jim Jones spell in Guyana.
Perfect in ObamaEyes for Sec. of Defense.
I can come to no other conclusion except the sad truth that President Osama hates this nation like a horse thief despises the noose.
Not only does our modest, mild mannered President hate the way America was, but in my mind he holds contempt for the values and ideals Americans so solemnly held for so long.
Even the philosopher, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, one of the bastard father’s of Marxism, would consider Chuck Hagel a madman’s pick, no offense to Don Draper, the creative director.
One thing arguably worse than Obama letting the four Ameicans be slaughtered in Benghazi is the way Obama slaughtered the best health care system in the world.
Obama’s really going to need the silence of the biased media when it becomes evident to more and more Americans, even the lobotomy types who voted for LamBada, what ObamaCare will do to healthcare premiums.
TAKING AFFECT IN 2014, THE LOWEST FAMILY OF FOUR OBAMACARE HEALTH CARE PREMIUM WILL BE $20,000 PER YEAR.
Democrats will counter this by saying families of four now spend almost $14,000 on health care, conveniently leaving out the word premiums.
$20,000. On the annual health care premium. Complements of Obama.
Okay all you Obama loving mainstream media pukes. How’r you going to keep that quiet when it explodes on the internet. You are creeps deserving of every day evening waterboarding.
The sky high ObamaCare premiums will vaporize other media stories about confirmation hearings. A moron for Sec. of State will get short shrift even on Hannity.
How young the girls are that DemoPervert Bob Menendez likes best will be relegated even in the Daily Caller to page twenty eight. News stories about Bob with background music written by Maurice Chevalier – Thank Heaven for Little Girls (from Gigi ..will cease to visit the airwaves.
On a positive note, one of the interesting things I’ve noticed recently that might indicate a beating Republican heart is an idea I’ve seen pop on on far right wing sites is a planned 21 gun, 3 volley salute on Independence Day, Thursday, 5pm EST.
Apparently, every gun owner will open fire.
This in a sense is Obama’s biggest concern. An armed America.
In fact, Obama’s going nuts over the rash of gun sales over the past year. That’s why he’s trying so hard to push total gun confiscation.
Of course, the first step is Feinstein’s gun control bill. Obama thinks comprehensive gun control is still two years away.
I’ve got to admit one other thing positive about Republicans. They’re sure good at taking it constantly on the chin.
Maybe if we all pool our money, when ObamaCare hits like a level 5 hurricane we can afford a doctor’s visit.
It just occurred to me: Hagel is the Senate’s republican Forrest Gump. Obama is slick, he’s got the cultural narrative down, get a mentally challenged decorated Vietnam (unjust) War Era (damaged) vet to dismantle the American empire’s neo-colonial military. The leftovers from the New Left must be creaming their drawers.
can ever humiliate chuck schumer
Obama merely wants a yes man in the Dept of Defense; someone who will not question or challenge anything Obama and his fellow Marxists desire. And the stupider and dumber that person is, the better for Obama.
After all, look who he had for our UN representative; that moron Rice , whom just ran with the company story line. A none thinking moron.
Obama is like a fox; he has a reason for EVERYTHING HE DOES. Those that believe he does not know what he is doing are seriously misguided.
NOBODY got the real story here (though Simon did provide a hint in the first part of this essay).
The reason Obama picked Hagel is to payback Woody Harrelson, who’s been promised the role in the upcoming movie.
The Choomn Gang LIVES!
I find your viewpoints racist, absurd and ridiculous. Your thinking is strictly antii-Hegelian. Obviously, your’re stuck on yourself like a preening 13 year old. I hope your dreams succeed because they’re pure hell.
“But forget the anti-Semitism and Iran for the moment. What we learned on Thursday is that Chuck Hagel is less qualified to be secretary of Defense than most of the students in my daughter’s high school history honors class.”
You, Sir, are either a knave or a fool. Or both. Senator Hagel is a man of honor and integrity, a patriot in the old fashioned, judge-by-my-actions, not-my-words sense. After training for an MOS that guaranteed doing his service in Germany, he volunteered for Vietnam in 1967 as an enlisted infantryman, where he was twice wounded. When he ran for the Senate he promised to serve only two terms; in 2008 he kept his promise and did not run for re-election, despite winning re-election in 2002 with 83% of the vote.
He did say that the Jewish lobby influences US national policy. Which is true. Anyone who denies this is either uninformed ot lying.
He did argue that unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran are not particularly effective. What part of that is untrue?
He is reported to have said the USA acts the bully in international affairs. Also true, if he said it.
He voted against the surge, which cost the lives of over a thousand US service people. I would say that the presence of American troops after the destruction of the Saddam Hussein regime’s military was counterproductive. Nation building was dumb. The world would be better off with Iraq divided into ethnic and religious enclaves.
Personally, I think President Obama made a huge mistake in appointing Chuck Hagel. He will be only honorable man in one of the most corrupt administrations in history, and if he thinks President Obama is pursuing policies to the detriment of US interests he will say so. Publicly.
Don’t forget that Chuck Shumer can’t be trusted any farther than I can spit, and I sometimes get my shoes wet.
not on your shoes
spit in his eye
if you miss
it’ll get on
his shoes instead
Hold it–”If Schumer were a man of substance or even relative decency,” now include Carl Levi, Barbara Boxer, and Dick Durbin, well there you go! the three Muscatels and Doofus. All selected by “Elmer Fudd” congratulations.
For your folks in the Military, I think you need to unionize immediately-find the guy Trumka, the one who looks like a drill sergeant recently run over by a pachyderm. you’ll be home free because “Elmer” like unions.
cheers from the dark side, and remember to always check you “6″ every AM to see if we’re all still here
We should celebrate. Hagel will be a continuing embarrassment to Schumer, Obama, and the Democratic Party. Hagel is not only ignorant, he is incapable of learning as is proven by the fact that his performance came after he had received coaching from White House staff prior to his confirmation hearing. A truly competent SoD would cover at least for a little while Obama’s idiotic/scummy international policies. And Obama can’t hide his incompetence by blaming Hagel as Hagel is his hand picked guy. This is a win-win situation. If confirmed, we have a never ending stumblebum as Obama’s front line defense guy. If not confirmed, the well deserved ridicule for picking Hagel will be a constant reminder of the value of Schumer’s judgement. And after all, the most competent SoD in history could not for more than a short time rein in the ruinous intentions towards the military by Obama. As far as whoever becomes SoD, in the immortal words of Hillary , “what difference does it make” if Obama is the president.
Springsteen is well past middle age now (63), and Obama is more a hip-hop star than a rock star.
Here we see Democrats coddling the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, Obama nominee Chuck Hagel at the hearings
Here we see Republicans challenging anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, Obama nominee Chuck Hagel at the hearings
I despise anti-Semitism, I stand by Israel, and I voted for the Republican Romney, not the Democrat Obama
I doubt this will be seen, but I think it was wrong to put the kapos and the sonderkommando in the same sentence. The Kapos where thugs put in charge of the other victims. On the other hand, being in the Sonderkommando was a death sentence; they were killed soon after. Unllike, the kapos, no-one wanted the dubious honor. And rememeber, it was the SS who actually dropped the gas pellets.
HAGEL HAD MORE THAN A DOG DAY AFTERNOON
Obama’s Secretary of Military Decline and Retreat to be wasn’t just butt ugly bad at his confirmation hearing, he was utterly, emotionally depressing. The image that came to mind as I was watching him and taking in his sickening vibes was that of a sad, filthy, miserable, stinking street mutt.
