Actually, all the BBC is doing here is boasting that they’re further to the left than North Korea is, and they don’t want anyone to forget it. After all, this is the state-run broadcasting network that inspired George Orwell to create the terrifying Room 101 in 1984, right around the time the British government was busy defeating National Socialism only to roll out a nationalized socialism of their own.
