Of Complexities, Contradictions and Second Chakras
Al Gore believes that the world is going to come an end in less than five years. Over the years, he professes to attempt to solve the “problem” of reducing the earth’s “carbon footprint” by expending plenty of carbon himself, with first a movie, and then a rock concert, and eventually a TV channel. He demands that the rest of us change our lifestyle to suit his worldview, but publicly vows not to change his, Al lives in a mansion, flies around in a private plane, and, this, along with his various business ventures, gives him an overall carbon footprint the size of well, one giant Manbearpig. Or as Ann Coulter once quipped, “I kind of respect [Al] more, it shows he is not stupid enough to believe all this global warming nonsense. He’s trying to get us to believe. Okay, fine, he may be a hypocrite but at least he’s not a moron.”
But that’s Coulter; Al’s long been a punchline for all of us on the right. Centrist blogger Ann Althouse piles on, adding, “Al Jazeera hands Al Gore the second-chakra-releasing sum of $100 million.” But at what point does Al become a joke among liberal late-night comedians? Ace notes that the prominent socialist sold his business at the end of 2012 to avoid paying higher tax rates:
Al Gore tried to hurry up the sale so he could avoid the increased taxes beginning January 1st. Lot of interesting stories the media has no interest in, eh? The media justifies its intense coverage of Republican sexual affairs on grounds that they evidence hypocrisy, and so are more important than the affair itself; but when Al Gore tries to avoid the higher tax rates he agitates for, it’s a single sentence in dispatch.
And then there’s the hypocrisy of the world’s most visible environmentalist having sold out his pet cause to Eeeeeevil Big Oil. (A Forbes article from 2007 asked rather presciently in retrospect, “Is Al Gore A Fossil-Fuel Industry Mole?”) Or as John Nolte memorably puts it at Big Journalism today, “Al Gore Race-Baits $100 Million from 21st Century Axis Sally:”
Al Jazeera is an anti-Semitic, anti-American scourge throughout the Middle East, and it was one of our biggest enemies during the darkest days of the wars in Iraq an Afghanistan. But in order to secure $100 million he doesn’t need, Gore threatened to accuse providers of racism if they dared drop the channel, which would’ve most certainly resulted in a lower selling price.
Imagine a former United States’ vice president giving Axis Sally a platform just after the end WWII and threatening a radio or television network if they refused to hand over their airwaves as a platform for her. [If the Axis Sally allusion seems to over-the-top, "Imagine if LBJ had sold his wife’s station to the Viet Cong’s ‘Liberation Radio,’ Kathy Shaidle* writes today -- Ed]
That’s exactly what Al Gore’s done — all in the name of tolerance.
You see, we have to tolerate hate and intolerance directed towards America and Israel, in the name of diversity. But what will not be tolerated is intolerance of Al-Jazeera’s hate and intolerance, because not tolerating hate and intolerance directed towards America and Israel is its own form of hate and intolerance.
Got that?
Yes, with an assist from a vintage Mark Steyn article, we’ll discuss that right after the page break.

Al’s found a niche industry (liberal idiocy) and is milking it dry.
Al Gore is maybe THE poster boy for hypocrisy on the left and has been for a long time. He has also turned into a bitter old man. Just look at his facial expressions.

Instead of taking Glenn Becks money, which was substantially more than what Al-Jazeera offered, he takes their money. What a clown. He showed his true colors.
Good article. We get a good belly laugh whenever dem or journalists’ hypocrisy goes over the top. But even the slow decline of the MSM hasn’t made the latter alter their worldview, particularly the belief that mainstream America is not a good place.
It’s in the journalists’ Bible—or maybe it’s in their Koran—that they lost the ’80 election to the evil Reagan because of criticism of Carter midway through his presidency—they hadn’t been so openly critical of a dem president since Johnson. They felt they also slipped up in ’88 in not helping muffle Dukakis. By the time Clinton’s rape allegations came along the MSM knew what they had to do. They could have taken care of Obama’s shady past and shadier associations in their sleep—and probably did.
The MSM is so hunkered down in dem swill that they have to breathe through a tube. And the truth is they like it.
“Needless to say, sanity has long since jumped out the window.”
It is like a sitcom. They didn’t just lose their sanity, who is to say they had any in the first place?
These self agrandizing types “jumped the shark.”
Not that anyone will notice mind you.
Hey, mideast oil, western enviromentalists shutting down competing North american energy, natural allie$$$! Kinda like hitler and stalin signing a pact after carving up Poland. The left buries it and pretends it didn’t happen. Forward!
The Valerie Plame case: The man who was appointed to appoint Patrick Fitzgerald “Special Counsel”

Funny – I tried to locate information on the “World’s most visible Environmentalist,” but the ‘Net kept taking me to explanations about “babbling nitwits” and “drooling congenital defectives.”
Hey, wait. Didn’t he invent this thing?
Like I always tell people – don’t listen to what a politician says – watch what they do. Flim-flam men too. I know – its difficult to tell the difference.
The Goracle must hate Glenn Beck – or maybe he secretly likes Jihadists. I know he loves money and that makes it puzzling why he’d pass up a larger bundle for a smaller one? Maybe he has a cause other than himself? Quite telling who he sold to if such is the case.
The Left is essentially a tribal worldview–those of the “tribe” can do no wrong-while those not of the “tribe” can never be correct.
I wait with what will, in all probability, be deafening silence all of the folks on the Left that will be taking to the net/airwaves/blogs/Newsprograms etc in outrage that Gore sold to an evil fossil fuel producer and tried to get the deal to go through in Dec–you know PRIOR to the new taxes that not that long ago Gore was pontificating about people like himself that needed to pay THEIR “fair share.”
This is actually one of the big ironies in politics. People on the left have no problems making money off their politics, but they also have no problems in investing their money promoting their politics. Conversely, the people on the right seem to think speech needs to be fettered (as in this case), and are afraid of investing their own money to push their political agenda.
Why can’t someone on the right start their own channel? People laughed at Al Gore when he started current, but at least he did more than talk, he actually did something. When are people on the right going to do that?
The proper way to refute Al Jazeeera (and MSNBC and Bloomberg and CNBC, etc) is to out compete them.
Instapundit brought up a good point about women’s magazines and cultures, how most of them are extremely left wing, promoting their ideology in 1 article out of 10, and that anyone that wanted to promote other ideas should consider buying such a magazine (or putting one out themselves). But no one is willing to do so.
al gore hasnt had an original idea since he learned to dress himself. lived on the coat tails of big daddy gore from tennessee. gore has been the stepford point man for the members of his think tank and of his agents. he is the token liberal democrat that can act the part. of course he gets paid well but so do his good buddy actors in hollywood and all they do is read and act the script written, directed, and produced by others. it all a game and al laughs all the way to the bank.
It seems to me, that anyone buying Al Gores TV channel ,was buying a lot of blue sky, there was really no leg image reason to pay that much money , for a failing enterprise. The way to go about it ,is to buy off your own politician, and get your own channel . It would certainly be a lot cheaper than half a billion dollars . Politicians are really cheep ,and readily available. I bet that you could buy all of them off, with that kind of money, and have plenty left over to supply and staff a TV channel.and many take over a large country.
Al Gore got Rupert Murdoch to pay Current TV 10 cents per subscriber. That inflated subscriber payment is what kept Current TV afloat and its largest source of revenue. Was that a blackmail payment from Murdoch to Gore? Why else would Murdoch approve such a high payment to an unwatched news channel?
This deal is filthy beginning to end.
(Hey, Al-Jazeera and Al Gore have the same first name – coincidence or conspiracy?)

we all await the day when al follows in the shoes of louis xvi and marie antoinette and states, “let them eat cake”, cake being at that time in france the burned remnants of the bread loaf at the bottom of the baking pan. al thinks it and lives it, but so far, has been nimble enough not to utter the actual words. even if he did, his liberal lemming dopey admirers would think he was just being “cool and hip” quoting the french queen who lost her head. hell, he cant lose for winning.
