Egypt: There Goes the Army; There Goes the Free Media; There Goes Egypt
So can you write “Arab Spring,” “free elections,” “democracy in Egypt,” and such things 100 times? This just might be somewhat in contradiction to the fact that:
Muslim Brotherhood President al-Mursi has just removed the two commanding generals of the Egyptian military. Does he have a right to do this? Who knows? There’s no constitution. That means all we were told about not having to worry because the generals would restrain the Brotherhood was false. Moreover, the idea that the army, and hence the government, may fear to act lest they lose U.S. aid will also be false. There is no parliament at present He is now the democratically elected dictator of Egypt. True, he picked another career officer but he has now put forward the principle: he decides who runs the army. The generals can still advise Mursi. He can choose to listen to them or not. But there is no more dual power in Egypt but only one leader. The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces which has run Egypt since February 2011 is gone. Only Mursi remains and Egypt is now at his mercy.
Oh and to put the icing on the cake, Mursi will apparently decide who will be on the commission that writes the new Consttitution.
Behind the scenes note: Would Mursi dared have done this if he thought Obama would come down on him like a ton of bricks? Would the army give up if they thought America was behind it? No on both counts.
This is a coup. Mursi is bound by no constitution. He can do as he pleases unless someone is going to stop him. And the only candidate–the military–is fading fast, far faster than even we pessimists would have predicted.
Muslim Brotherhood President al-Mursi has also just named the editors of the top Egyptian newspaper and other media outlets. They are state-owned, you know, and there are a half-dozen good little independent newspapers.
But one of them, al-Destour (ironically meaning “The Constitution”), has just had a full issue seized on charges of “fueling sedition” and “harming the president through phrases and wording punishable by law.” We know this through a report in the Middle East News Agency, the state-owned monopoly.
And what was the inflammatory report? That the Brotherhood was going to seize power and that liberals and the army should join together to stop the country from being turned into an Islamist regime.
Seems to me that if it weren’t true there wasn’t any need to confiscate the issue, right? After all, everybody would have seen that it wouldn’t happen and all would have shared a good laugh!
Other columnists are charging that the Brotherhood is trying to turn their newspapers into reliable house organs rather than let them be free.
Reminds me of a personal experience I had in Cairo over thirty years ago. An al-Ahram newspaper editor was well-known for being the highest-ranking Christian in journalism. I went to see him and mentioned that I knew he was a Christian. He launched into a long lecture about how wonderfully Christians were treated in Egypt, how there was no discrimination against them, etc.
After a while I mentioned that I heard he had been on the television the previous evening but I had missed it. For no particular reason, I just asked, “How long were you on, fifteen minutes?”
Without missing a beat, he shot back: “Fifteen minutes! You’d think they’d let a Copt be on for fifteen minutes! I was on for three minutes.”

Barry, about your health, give a try to papaya, since it really cured a friend of mine affected with liver tumor. He ingested massive amounts of papaya fermented and drank tea of papaya leaves. That was 10 years ago and the tumor disappeared.Papaya grows in emek ha yarden.
The ongoing *NNP takeover of Egypt reminds me of another time no so long ago when a few ‘out there’ voices were warning about the storm clouds gathering over Europe not long after the rise of another Morsi with a moustache.
The all wise leading elite, the experts and the full of crap as always media and majority urged calm and berated those who warned about what was coming and the people soon to be led to slaughter listened to the wise experts.
Same story different day only this time the Fourth Reich is headquartered in Washington.
The Muslim Brotherhood is nothing more than the Arab version of the *New Nazi Party.

Barry.
On the tribulation you are facing.Often God allows something to overwhelm us to show us our spiritual condition but especially to humble us and remind us that we are nothing but dust being propped up by His breath.
Who is the first one we run to when a death sentence is given and terror and fear strike ? He is a good Father.
I ran to the LORD before I looked for a cure because Life and Death are in His Hands.
They always have been.
‘Unless the Lord builds the house,They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,The watchman keeps awake in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early,To retire late,
To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.’
Psalm 127
Marcel, only those who are ignorant, or willfully blind, expect Morsi to comport himself as a shield for (western) democracy. You and I know better, as do most PJM readers/posters.
My blog is rife with said supportive evidence. Take a look at just one of my many commentaries on the subject – ‘Islam & Blood’, it can be found at – http://www.adinakutnicki.com, it is in the July archives.
The policy paper contained within will prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Islam is irreconcilable to western values. And, The Muslim Mafia/Brotherhood (of which Morsi is deeply connected to) is Exhibit Number One.
Case closed.
Adina,AMEN !!but you’re preaching to the choir.
What the majority ,even people here ignore is that it is the USA who made this possible and is working with Al Qaeda,Muslim terrorists,Islamic jihad,Muslim Brotherhood, etc. to extend the growing Caliphate into Syria.
Time to pull your heads out of the sand people and realize that the Fourth Reich is headquartered in Washington D.C.
My message for Israel,America is not your God but it is your destroyer by way of their false peace Road Map to Sheol.
It would be nice to see you commenting at times of Israel ,a good place to get your message across.

Egypt: There Goes the Free Media
A fine essay, well titled. My, what a development. Or would that be inevitability? I won’t even mention that Prez Barack Hussein forced the Egyptian dictatorship to allow four Mo-Bro-Hood leaders, which was illegal at the time, attend his famous apology speech at ole U. of Al Azhar. I’m sure they weren’t disappointed.
But this government takeover of Egypt’s media ain’t all bad: at least it ensures Sharia compliance. Sharia, Islamic Law, the ideal for which American soldiers, marines and airman so bravely fought, and sometimes died or were maimed, in Iraq and Afghanistan. Paid for it, too. Still are.
I’d place al-Mursi on a pedestal over and above Prez Barack Hussein. And that’s even though the U.S. taxpayers are footing the bill over there.
I think all of us who stay informed knew this was going to happen, Geez.
Thus goes Syria once the islamist take over.
Of course everyone not on the skittles and kool aid could see this coming.
And meanwhile, right now the Defense Minister Field Marshall Tantawi, the chief of staff Gen. Hafez S. Annan and other 3 generals were sacked by Prez al-Mursi. And above all the military constitutional amendments giving the military wide powers were cancelled!
Huge problems ahead for Egypt and the region. The MB President really shows who he is. Will Obama and Clinton take notice? What will they do? America is really discredited in the Middle East, thanks to this incompetent Admin. The Middle East is getting ripe for a war. To be continued…..
“harming the president through phrases and wording punishable by law.”
I think you just gave a new idea to our DoJ.
For once, I disagree. If I wrote a newspaper article saying something like “Obama is the enemy of mankind and we should all join forces to kill him”, I would probably expect a visit from the secret service, which would not at all mean Obama really meant to kill everybody or else he wouldn’t be insulted. After all, the newspaper here — like my hypothetical example — explicitly calls for an armed revolution, doesn’t it?
You mean like the NYT calling and supporting the OWS bowel movement???
Enjoy the 1st amendment while it still stands.
Dear Barry
I am a member of the Israel Media Team in Johannesburg an organization which combats the anti Israel press bias in one of the most hostile(against Israel) countries in the world. and have been an ardent follower and admirer of your writing.
I was so looking forward to meeting you here in South Africa last week at Limud – where I was to host you during your stay in Johannesburg.
I wish you well and look forward to much inspiration that I draw from your writing for a long time to come.
Best wishes
Allan
Greetings:
I read somewhere a good while back that the Islamic concept of libel or defamation is much different than our own. The old truth is not a defense is one of the many bent coins in those realms. Coming soon to an america near you ???
Have these Egyptian generals never heard of the Turkish generals?
Do John “Obama” McCain and Marco “Obama” Rubio still side with the Muslim Brotherhood against Michele Bachmann?
So, the $1billion per year to Egypt stands? Or do we just increase it given this recent,oh so not surprising, turn of events? Sen. McCain? Sen. Rubio? The Clinton State Department?
Actually, the figure is closer to TWO billion annually, most of it in military aid. But against who does Egypt need such advanced arms (including F-16 fighters and Abrams tanks)? Sudan? Libya? Saudi Arabia? Well, Egypt often conducts war games against an “enemy state to the east”. You can guess who that might be.
The last time Egypt confronted Israel, Egypt’s military was mostly armed with and trained to use Soviet weapons. Now they possess equipment similar to that Israel uses – and they’re trained in their use by Americans! Egypt’s navy is *larger* than Israel’s own. It’s only Israel’s own improvements to such hardware and its superior soldiers that makes the difference.
It wouldn’t matter what tools the Arabs and Egyptians had in their possession. The culture of the Israelis would produce the required people to crush the Islamists.
Our misguided clown posse in choomville can give them all the cool tools they want and it will not make a difference in the outcome of a conflict. Not to say that I want us to throw my hard earned tax dollars anywhere near those miscreant people, but to say that it won’t matter in the end. Hopefully in November, We The People, will make a course correction and see the destruction of the marxist state in charge.
Stand with Israel! Stand for freedom!
You’re right. In the end, who cares what America gives to Egypt? A troop of uniformed gorillas would make a more respectable opponent for the gallant men and women of the IDF than your brutish, inbred Egyptian. Remember: in the Yom Kippur War it were the Russians who planned the entire operation for them; the Russians also supplied them with the latest anti-tank and anti-aircraft weaponry, the sole reason they were able to cross the Suez Canal. Imagine therefore how helpless they’d be today, left to plan their own operations and technologically behind their opponent in every area. So, once you think about it, there really isn’t that much to worry about.
I think you are both missing the point. Yes, ISrel would prevail, but the cost in lives would be higher that it otherwise would.
Arabs are not looking to win, for they never will – they are looking to make war untenable for the Israelis – too costly in lives for Israel, which will then rationalize more concessions to her enemies.
I have been writing the Arab summer, rather than the Arab spring as there is more murder when it above 100 degrees. Perhaps, it is the Arab spring after all, and it is the birth of region 4 of the WTO. A pagan birth, or rebirth of the Tower of Babel. This time a global Tower of Babel.
What is to become of region #1?
Egyptian economic situation is at the moment pretty bleak. Foreign reserves declined, prices went up, people are restless and on Thursday there was a massive blackout which hit Cairo, crippled Egyptian Stock Exchange. Many people started to think that Mubarak was not so bad and blamed Mursi for the worsening of economy . But one of the way out from some of the trouble is to introduce economic austerity measures. Which, of course, would be received quite badly by majority of the Egyptians. Another, is to get a loans from other Muslim (or Muslim Brotherhood) countries. Still another, is to get USA not to do anything if, or when, some Egyptians start to protest.
Therefore, what Mursi has done was quite predictable and logical. Yes, he is an islamist, but he is also logical He knew the mood of the people, and knew that his government may be in big trouble. So he acted against military top people who could prevent his future actions. He acted against newspapers who could also spoil or restrict his movements. He may have acquired support of salafi faction. AND he acquired a $2bn loan from Qatar. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/middleeast/2012/08/201281261018425841.html
I am waiting for austerity measures and/or other “actions”.
Any guesses to the fallout when an Egyptian general tries to escape to Israel?
Morsi is just following the Obama dictator protocol,it’s worked well for Hussein
Why not go for broke before naive Israel wakes up and smell the rocket fuel and VX gas.
The CFR Globalists and their corn dog on a stick Obama are grinning ear to ear today. You won’t hear a peep from the Caliphate Corporation of America on this today.maybe tomorrow, maybe not.
Morsi sees how the worthless Republicans let the destroyer Obama get away with everything including murder and knows the paper tiger empire will keep sending him the checks no matter what he does.
Heck, they created him,he was ‘schooled’ in the good old USA !
War is coming.
Big,big war coming !
December 2011
There is coming an all out war in the Middle East as the neighboring Arab nations will come against Israel with a sudden missile attack starting from the north with Hezbollah, Lebanon, and Syria. Other Arab nations will join. Israel will be hit from all sides at once and there will be deaths and partial destruction of settlements, smaller cities to the north, and some damage to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as well. Israel will respond with great force, and limited nuclear weapons will release devastation upon the neighboring countries, particularly Lebanon, Damascus, which will be destroyed completely, and the rest of Syria as well as military strikes into Iran, Gaza, and even northern Egypt/Sinai region.

Sounds like the Associated Obama Press over here. Except that our little piggies are happy to play along. No need for threats or coercion, aside from those of their fellow journolistas. Our God-King scribes are self-subservient.
Anyone with brains could see this coming. Perhaps that is why the State Department had a hand in the Arab Spring: that agency has a long and storied history of incompetence and stupidity.
Like others have said: war is coming. With any luck government will be blamed when oil prices surge for NOT exploiting domestic oil sources over the last decades and especially for the hostility this administration has shown to oil and energy in general.

I wonder what, if anything, Qatar’s pledge/deposit of $2bn in Egypt’s central had to do with this. It will certainly prop Egypt up for a while longer. Like maybe till after the US presidential election?
I agree entirely with Prof. Rubin’s article but am somewhat curious as to the following:
“Behind the scenes note: Would Mursi dared have done this if he thought Obama would come down on him like a ton of bricks?”
The answer is YES. Morsi is not very concerned with President Obama. He can easily secure funding somewhere else, I presume. Dear Prof, do you honestly believe that President Obama could have prevented Morsi from doing what he did????
Coming down on Morsi like a ton of bricks would consist exactly of what?????
What can Obama or the State Dept actually DO to stop Morsi from firing x or y general???
Lets imagine that President Obama would try to “come down on Morsi as a ton of bricks”
How would he do that exactly??
I can only think of this option.
Suspend US aid to Egypt??? (and loose most leverage in vital military establishment???? Does anyone here believe the MB would find it difficult to secure funding for its military/state elsewhere???? Hence, it would not be merely a matter os loosing leverage but of potentially handing such leverage to someone else, i fear. What would be the implications of this for regional security????)
That said, I agree with Prof. Rubin’s analysis of the situation. We are indeed witnessing the end of the army as a separate political actor in Egyptian politics. A very dangerous development. Slowly but surely, Egypt is becoming an Iran. Theocratic power is absolutist. It does not seek compromise.
Liberal
@ Liberal
Yes, Mursi would have acted differently if Obama/US policy was different.
Obama done nothing when Iranians protested against Ahmadinejad.
Obama did nothing for his ally, Mubarak.
In fact, Obama behaved just like Clinton before Iranian revolution.
So why should Mursi (or anyone) be concerned with what Obama does and thinks? They know that Obama does not support US friends and will not act against majority of US enemies. Obama even invited MB people to US. So why should Mursi/MB change their behavior?
read Carter i/o Clinton (sorry)
Distinguished Professor Carrie Rosefsky Wickham of Emory University stated that the MB is a moderating force. Because she said it, it must be true. Therefore, any reports of the MB not being a moderating force are false
Yes, and dont forget distinguished columnist Nicholas Kristof, who had dinner with a charming, educated young woman from the MB and felt hopeful about the future of Egypt. It must be true because you read it in the NYT.
Since my home in Jerusalem is a couple of hours from the Egyptian border, I have been following the issue closely since the Arab uprisings began. Prof Rubin’s columns are essential.
Professor Rubin’s writings are clearly essential. With few exceptions there is little coverage of this change in our media. My previous comment is not that Obama or State could or would do anything to effect change, or that the $1.5 (or $2) billion is essential. The $1.5 is irrelevant to an Administration that has moved from heralding the “Arab Spring” to not so much leading from behind, but just wishing that the whole thing would just go away. If war is coming I hope it is delayed until the adults make it into a new Administration and State Department.
The MB is not and never was “a moderating force.” It is as moderating as a bull dog on steroids.
Here is now to deal with the MB in Egypt -
1) Cut the foreign aid to zero and encourage other nations to do the same.
2) Send in agents to conduct sabotage on vital infrastructure and food shipments, continue until the country is in flames.
Liberal – Does anyone here believe the MB would find it difficult to secure funding for its military/state elsewhere????
Yes it would, the absolute monarchies such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan… HATE the MB as they are a threat to their power. None of them would shed a tear if they were strung up on lampposts by starving desperate peasants or even Jews for that matter.
Iran and the other MB sponsors are having their own difficulties at the moment due to running out of money via economic mismanagement (change your getting!!).
Cut off the money and the MB WILL detonate.
Oh well there goes the pyramids which will be blown up by that merry band of islamic savages, the muslim brotherhood. All the result of Diktator Obama and the smartest woman on the planet, Hellary Clinton “Arab Spring” foreign policy. Pretty amazing when you think about it how these two Alinsky communists have managed in under 4 years to completely wreck America’s standing in the world. The price we will all pay for the feckless voters who voted in Diktator Obama will be paid by the blood of Americans and many other innocents around the world.
These two (Obama and Clinton) never for one moment did not know what would happen if they backed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Fact is they hate Israel with a passion and want it wiped off the face of the earth.
This is exactly what obama wanted from day one but he will not claim it as one of his few successes because they are all losses for our country. As for cutting off our aid, that is a real possibility in 2013 with Romney president and more republicans in the senate. Romney knows the difference between a good and a bad investment. obama knows marxist theory, muslim religious doctrine, and Keynesian claptrap.
I am completely unsurprised by Rubin’s article. After all, the Israeli website, Debka, which specialises in security, intelligence and military affairs, said precisely this a day after Morsi sacked army generals.
You guys should read Debka. They are better than Stratfor, which is so internally insecure that their records get hacked.
Debka said that essentially Israel and America got had, in the aftermath of the attack on Egyptian border camps which saw 16 soldiers dead. This ‘crisis’ allowed Morsi to fly airforce jets in the Sinai, for the first time in over 30 years. It allowed Morsi to sack army generals.
Debka also said that Morsi only attacked some Bedouin camps but he did not use the jets to attack the base camps up in the Sinai mountains.
He has ostensibly closed the Gaza border but will re-open them shortly, for “humanitarian” reasons.
The Brothers are a century-old outfit. They have thrived even under proscription by Egypt’s military dictators, from Nasser to Mubarak. They are no fly-by-night operators like the Nazis. The Brothers are past-masters in the art of war. If Sun Tzu were alive today, he would write admirably of them. I’m sorry to say this, but the Israelis have finally met their match. Morsi is no Arafat or Assad or Faisal. This is no longer 1973 and the six-day war.
Mr. Rubin,
I follow you on PJ Media and am sorry to hear about your failing health. You are much too young for this prognosis. Do not accept it. If you are able to swallow, please have your staff check this out. Nothing but fruits, berries and vegetables in capsules. They can be broken open and placed in a beverage or even pudding or applesauce. They come in gummy form also, and truly offer you the best chance to fight on. My webpage is pwhitehilljuiceplus.com. There you’ll see the incredible amount of research showing how effective this is. So many of our illnesses are nutritional. Maybe, just maybe. Blessings, Pat

You overlook a simple fact: there are many other nations in the world with interests in the middle east. Moreover, do you believe that Saudi Arabia and Iran are going to relinquish their influence in the region because they “hate” the MB???? Circumstances have changed. Interests have not. The gulf monarchies/iran will adapt to the new situation. They will not support the liberals (a minority whose views are completely opposed to theirs, much more than MB’s)
Indeed, the following seems plausible: (forgive my petulance): the MB is a dogmatic, theocratic and extremist political movement that is engaged in “democratic” politics in the middle east. The Saudis and others will certainly want to learn how to preserve dogmatic authenticity in a “democratic political system” (that is, a political system that provides the illusion of democratic legitimacy…Saudis and others are looking for formulas to legitimise their tyrannical rule…they have been sh***ng their pants ever since the beginning of the so called arab spring….They are going to be very very close to the MB. Wanna bet?????
Country in flames? What interest would be served by this??? Well, I suspect it would be fastest way to put Al Nour in power or of promoting an alliance between it and the MB.
You should perhaps ask Israeli security specialists at Debka and others if what you recommend is wise.
Junius
“in under 4 years to completely wreck America’s standing in the world.”
Pew and other global op polls have clearly demonstrated that America’s standing in the world was wrecked by former President George W Bush.
Obama is loved around the world.
That is a political fact.
PS: I do not agree with much of his policy in the middle east but he is the most liked American president for many years.
OK, and what exactly does being ‘liked’ produce? Please, are you out of the kindergarden yard yet? Bush, with all the mistakes he made (as do all leaders) commanded respect, yes possibly through ‘fear’, but in a schoolyard full of bullies, that is viable performance. Semper Fi.
@liberal
‘Obama is loved around the world.’
‘Global approval of President Barack Obama’s policies has declined significantly since he first took office, while overall confidence in him and attitudes toward the U.S. have slipped modestly as a consequence.’ (Pew Research Center) 6/13/12
In five out of six Muslim majority countries polled, America’s approval rating has declined from 2008 to 2012. The exception,Turkey, has remained relatively constant. America’s ME rating in 2008 exceeds 2012′s in five out of six nations polled. In the Muslim countries polled from 2009 to 2012, Obama’s confidence rating has declined -9%, and America’s approval rating has declined -10% during the same period. Approval of Obama’s international policies saw the biggest slide globally (Japan -19%, China -30%, Muslim countries -19%, Europe -15%, Russia -18%, Mexico -17%.
http://www.pewglobal.org/2012/06/13/global-opinion-of-obama-slips-international-policies-faulted/
Boogalie,
Bush was respected????? Bush was feared?????? Thats not what i heard in my kindergarden.
“with all the mistakes he made”
Care to elaborate on the mistakes, Boogalie???? (before we proceed further)
“Obama is loved around the world.
That is a political fact.”
Excuse me. If that is a fact, someone may believe in Snow White.
Can you produce latest stats on that “love of Obama” ? Perhaps one of example of that love are the shoes and rotten tomatoes thrown at Clinton (as a representative of Obama) during her July visit in Egypt.
“Bush was feared??”
Yup.
After all why on earth Pakistan changed its policy from helping Taliban to helping anti-Taliban forces and US forces.
And why Iranians tried to make peace with USA? IN 2003?
“Thats not what i heard in my kindergarden”
So it would be good if you go out of your kindergaden in into wide, wide World. Being a grown man in kindergaden might not be good for your “intellectual powers”, if any.
It’s kind of eerie to see how some people can look at the disaster O has made of our Middle East policy and come away with crackerjack idea that more of the same would improve it even more. But we’re probably getting the best foreign policy the Kool-Aid drinkers can come up with. So, has O rescinded his invitation to al-Mursi to visit him at the WH? No, he’s probably thrilled that al-Mursi did what he would like to do here.
Another shining example of “smart diplomacy”.
To all those calling for a suspension of aid to egypt,
Morsi would love for the US to do just that. It would be his pretext for ending the peace treaty with Israel without any preconditions. While I suspect Israel can beat the Egyptians and the Tu4rks and the Palestinians and hezbollah and Iran. I have doubts tht they can beat all of them at once and if they can, it will come at a terrible price. Israel needs time. The current status quo (arab countries in economic and political turmoil) is necessary for Israel to eventually prevail.
Well, Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin can now report back to Obama “mission accomplished”.
It is fine to look at what is happening over there. I suggest that the same eyes and minds might focus on that nation South of Canada, North of Mexico and bordered by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans as a troubling place, indeed.
Davelnaf,
Obama’s disastrous policies in the middle east???
Which policies, exactly ?????
Are you joking????? Let’s start with Iran. O ignored the pleas of Iranians asking for support against the Regime for the recently stolen election. I suppose O was collating information and couldn’t make up his mind; just as he couldn’t about troop increases for the surge in Afghanistan. Speaking of surges he threw away the gains made in Iraq by once again equivocating over how many troops would remain there after the US withdrew most of its combat personnel. It was very much in line with his “lead from behind” Libya policy. And let’s not forget recent revelations that O was almost talked out of going after Ben Laden by that towering foreign policy maven Valerie Garret. And what did O think he was doing plunging into the Israeli-Palestinian dispute? He had no business sticking his nose into that issue or any other where he has demonstrated an almost unearthly ignorance and fecklessness. Don’t get me started on O’s Egyptian disaster. To the perspicacious among us his Cairo speech in which he praised the Islamic world for priming the European Renaissance spoke volumes about this man unbelievable ignorance and unfitness to be president. But, apparently, it didn’t cause people like you to bat an eye. Can anything sober up people like you about what a disaster O has been to this country’s foreign and domestic policy? Enjoy your Kool-Aid.
They can say Islam is ” The Religion of Peace ” all they want. What is going on tells the Truth. Where Sharia Law is practiced, Freedom goes away.
~ Motto of the Muslim Brotherhood
- Allah is our objective.
- The Prophet is our leader.
- Qur’an is our law.
- Jihad is our way.
- Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.
Look what is going on around the world, and in your own area.
The word usually translated as ‘peace’ is closer to
the relief which comes from surrender in the war of
wills between man and God, of becoming a slave of God.
…and of God’s earthly representatives.
I imagine the Egyptian target-lists are undergoing a hurried update/re-evaluation at IDF-HQ in anticipation of another two (or will it be a three)-front war.
Pakistan consolidates power. Soon we’ll join them in destroying Assad once and for all.
Obama is such a disaster, but everybody still thinks the #1 issue is the economy. Such silliness. Constitutional damage is worse than the economic damage.
Still, I can’t help but recognize that now Turkey, Egypt, Mali, and soon to be Syria are now firmly in the hands of Pakistan’s Brotherhood/ISI. And it’s been cheered along by Obama and Hillary.
Extraordinary.
Liberal Re Post 32.
1) “Interests in the Middle East”
Primarily Oil and gas, Egypt has little. Provided they continue to flow what happens to Egypt is unimportant.
2) “Moreover, do you believe that Saudi Arabia and Iran are going to relinquish their influence in the region because they “hate” the MB?”
They hate the MB because they ARE a threat to both their POWER and influence in the region.
3) Country in flames? What interest would be served by this?
3 parties spring to mind immediately –
America’s. A MB battling for it’s own survival is to busy to foment trouble. It would not take much to achieve either.
The absolute monarchies, a failed state in Egypt legitimizes their rule.
Israel – The best way to keep the wolf from your door is to have it terrorizing your enemy’s house instead. Islamic countries racked by civil war and mass starvation are weak horses that are open to exploitation by the strong and ruthless if they possess the will.
One does not have to be a genius nor peer into a crystal ball to foresee what the Muslim future intentions are. Just read the Al Quran, that fraudulent piece of rag sheet, made up by a megalomaniac in his hashish-based dreams, to understand the overall situation: ONE OUT OF EVERY THREE DOGMAS SAYS (OR WORDS TO THAT EFFECT…) UNBELIEVERS MUST EITHER BE CONVERTED OR ELIMINATED. Now you people, I’ll give you three guesses at what this means and leads to! Europe doesn’t want the Semitic Jews? ok, so now it has to deal with the Semitic Muslims, who are the real murderers, terrorists, gangsters. Once again it’s easy – take information on terror from three years back(or even longer if you wish…) until today and check the number of wanton killings and terrorist acts that were committed and by whom. Then come to your own conclusions. What we have today is pure Nazislamism, directed not only to Jews but to ALL THE OTHER WORLD RELIGIONS. Look at what they’re doing to the Christians in Arab-Muslim countries (Catholics, Protestants, Copts, Seventh Day Saints, Evangelists), also Hindus, BaHai, Annimist, etc. Don’t think you antisemites are safe or protected when you attack us Jews… just wait and your turn will come! Israel and Jews are the only thorns stuck in the Muslims’ throats so you antisemites had better fix it such that they (the thorns) don’t come unstuck! CAPISCHE????
KOL HAI AM ISRAEL!!!!!!!
How can someone be a democratically elected DICTATOR? That guy Barry Rubin sounds like a crazy jew land grabber of Palestinian land hate monger wantabe Israel state in Palestine.Rubin just get a life or just go away for good.

Point by point.
The US should have listened to the pleas of Iranians and done what…?? Invaded Iran??? Supported the opposition?? (thats what they are doing) Send paratroopers to invade tehran and rescue the oppressed opposition from the hands of an hideous regime?? is the US military at the service of repressed oppositions worldwide or at the service of the People of the United States of America and its VITAL interests???? The US is not the Red Cross. What happened to good old realism????? American conservatives are now interested in saving repressed oppositions???? Insane, I tell ya.
You claim O was undecided as to the surge is bogus. I heard him talk about that hundreds of times during the last elections. He did not seem undecided at all.
He threw away the gains in Iraq??? Whats happened in Iraq? Has AQ taken over? He inherited a tragic and stupid war.
(your) Recent revelations Versus Assassination of Bin Laden. Which is more credible??? The deed or unsubstantiated or sort of invented revelations???
Obama is the President of the United States, Israel’s most precious, devoted and loyal ally…. and he can not stick his nose in the Israeli-Palestinian dispute (which, incidentally, affects the national interests of the US) ?????
Man, we’ve got some real brains here. Kool aid contains sugars that are essential for good cognitive functioning. maybe you should have some.
the islamic renaissance preceded the European for a few centuries. its a historical fact. i do not believe that it was a true renaissance (since religious dogma was not truly abolished) but that is another matter altogether. what is called the Golden Age of islam preceded the European renaissance. you should read BERNARD LEWIS.
People LIKE ME???? What do you know about ME, davelnaf??? dont make it personal. stick to the arguments.

You are right on this point: “UNBELIEVERS MUST EITHER BE CONVERTED OR ELIMINATED” (that is the basis of islamic dogma and the ultimate “justification/pretext” of/for terrorism. no doubt!!) this is what the islamic radicals believe in. true. that is why compromise is not possible.

What happens in Egypt, in the most impt Arab country, is UNIMPORTANT!!!! Brilliant conclusion. Mind boggling!!
The MB has received money from the gulf countries for ages and it will continue to do so. that is a fact. your arguments are baseless. the saudi wahhabis love MB’s stringent interpretation of sharia moral codes. that is only 1 point in which they agree on. a fundamental one.
as to the wolf, horses, bla bla. ill leave that for the kool aid crew, which should be arriving shortly.
It was nice visiting this bastion of American conservative republicanism.
Have a pleasant summer, gents.

Lib, your reply read like Chris Matthews on speed, whew. I know people like you are desperately worried that O is on his way out. This is the first thing you’ve gotten right. Allow the facts of his terrible misrule to penetrate and be enlightened.
By any measure O’s foreign policy has been an epic disaster. What should he have done about Iran back in ’09 when the people there took to the streets over their stolen election? Maybe, offered his verbal support? See, that was easy. Even if saying nice things about the sufferings of the Iranian people had made no difference it would have signaled his principled opposition to the Iranian regime; instead, he sat on his teleprompter. So, you think O’s helping hand in the ascent of the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt is no big deal? Maybe you think the MB is a moderate group like O believes it is? And what’s this business about O not getting into the Israeli-Palestinian issue? You missed the part about him shooting darts at Netanyahu with his eyes when he had invited the poor fellow to the WH? I haven’t yet seen him do the same to any other heads of state, particularly ones unfriendly to US interests. O might have it in him though. But he won’t be shooting darts at the Russians after promising to be “more flexible” with them “after his reelection.”
Lib, you need to accept that November is going to be another 2010 and move on with your life.
Ever since its inception Islam has never been a religion for most of its followers but an instrument to seize political power. When the West (Europe and the US) seperated religion (Christianity) from the state during reformation and enlightenment they won supremecy over the rest of the world. This is may also come true for Japan and China maybe even for India. There is not a single Islamic country on Earth where people can live by Western standards economically and politically.

This our government at work folks!
Davelnaf,
I write in a hurry, davelnaf. Sorry if the English is not up to standard.
I should tell you that I do not vote Democrat or Republican.
I agree with you on this point: President Obama should have been more forceful with Iran when the Green Mov took to the streets. Indeed, he should be more forceful on Iran. Let me ask you, how can he be more forceful on Iran??? Economic embargo. Etc What else do you have in mind? What other options are there? (military)
O’s helping hand in the ascent of MB???? Never heard of that. How did he do this? If so, why did he do it??? Could it have something to do with the possibility of Al Nours winning a majority???? Just speculating. I do not know. Honest, i dont. Please enlighten me. I do not believe that the MB is a moderating force at all. Don´t misinterpret me. I am a liberal but I try not to be an idiot.
But, yes, I agree. Obama should have sided with the liberal opposition in Egypt. But, lets think for a moment, that would have meant having next to 0 political leverage in Egypt. Unfortunately, the people the US should be supporting actively are, at present, politically inconsequential. This does not mean that they shouldnt be supported. But, tell me, what do you do??? And, ultimately, can you support those people WITHOUT having some general influence in the country????? Would that be possible???
Davelnaf, I have no stakes in the Democrats or the Republicans. I am modest student of politics that has always adored the United States of America. If the American people decide that it is Romney, its perfectly OK with me. I do like President Obama and I would probably vote for him, if I was an American citizen.
All the best
Liberal
Lets think this through.
“Obama’s helping hand on MB’s ascent????”
He choose their leader????
What, exactly, did he do to help the MB??? I dont understand what you mean. Maybe I havent been reading all that I should read.
How could President Obama have played a role in that, following Tahrir Sq, all the political turbulence, etc??? It seems farfetched, to say the least, to imagine that President Obama could have played a role in MB’s ascent. Even if I suppose that he may have wanted to. I don’t see how he could have done it. The situation was too damn fluid for that kind of control to be even possible. Thats my intuition. I think the MB would have risen regardless. A natural emanation from that political culture. Thats what i think.
Best regards

Liberal you are in dep sleep!. Obama did not have to do anything with his two hands to bring MB to power in North Africa and the Middle East. The mere thought that given an opportunity MB may be tamed to become a democratic alternative in Moslem countries was enough to encourage the MB. Look what happaned in Libya, Tunisia, Egypt and now Syria and -low and behold- in the once secular republic of Turkey a strategic partmner of the US which had come so close to saving itself from islamo-fascism through the reforms of the great leader K. Ataturk, were it not for the stubborn and malignant support of the US (and Europeans) of the primitive tyrant namely Erdogan who is ready to declare himself the new “caliph” of moslems! I repeat Islam is not regarded by most of its followers as a religion addressing the hearts of men but an instrument to seize political power. Notice how constitutions are relentlessly being changed over and over in Moslem world just like the age old practice of changing the contents of the Koran according to the wishes of the incumbent rulers. So please wake up yourself and wake Obama and his kind if possible!

This whole thing started with that old fool, Jimmy Carter. There were some demonstrations in Tehran, so Carter convinced the Shah to leave the country “temporarilly.” He told the Shah to let things cool down and then he could return. The Shah bought it. After all, Carter had assured him shortly before that he supported him “1,000 percent.” As soon as the Shah left, Ayatollah Komeini was assisted to return from France where he had been in exile. (The trash of the world finds refuge in France.) Komeini immediately took over and his idiotic minions made prisoners of our US Embassy personnel, in violation of international law and all norms of civilized countries. The Shah was an SOB, but he was our SOB and the Iranians were prosperous and women were not persecuted during his regime. As soon as Komeini took over, women were again veiled and fired from their employment. They became the property of their owners, their husbands. Also, polygamy was reinstituted.
Just as a point of interest, while Ronald Reagan was being sworn in, the hostages were released. President Reagan had passed the word to Iran that what would happen to them wouldn’t be pretty if they didn’t release the Americans. Jimmy Carter, eloquent as always said, upon hearing the news, “Right on, man.”
The “Arab Spring” was the same thing. Obama did everything he could to see that Islamists took over Egypt. An interesting fact is that during this so-called flowering of democracy, our country spent millions to repair the sewer system in Cairo because it was threatening a mosque. The Islamists are now in control, and the military which we were told would retain control, have now lost control. This was no flowering of democracy, it was a takeover by the Muslim Brotherhood with the assistance of their Muslim mole in the White House. Hillary Clinton must want that job really bad to have betrayed her country to keep it.
We struck the first blow to Libya with our Tomahawk missiles and enabled the Islamists, the Muslim Brotherhood, to take over. It is true that Gaddafi was another SOB, but at least he kept control of the Brotherhood.
The same with all of the other countries which have fallen to the Muslim Brotherhood with the assistance of the US. Syria will be next and Obumma has already allowed the leak that we are assisting the rebels there. Another win for the Brotherhood.
Mrs. Weenie, who works for Hillary Clinton as her Chief of Staff has strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Her father was a member and her mother is a member of the Muslim Sisterhood. In my opinion, she too is a mole.
Folks, their goal is to take over the world and establish a Grand Caliphate. They are well on their way with the assets of the United States behind them in the form of our Muslim, Kenyan born POTUS. There is a saying in the Middle East: “Never let a camel get his nose under the tent.” The camel has managed to get his entire body in the tent and is pushing civilization to it’s end to be replaced by Seventh Century barbarians.
I really enjoy examining on this website , it has got good content . “We find comfort among those who agree with us–growth among those who don’t.” by Frank A. Clark.
I haven’t looked at your blog since October and I am surprised that I can see so many new things. The articles are fantastic and the graphics and pictures just wonderful! I can not take my eyes from your page Feel free to look at my page!
