Media to Romney: Stop Telling the Truth!
To sum up the recent political news:
1. Mitt Romney criticizes the Obama administration’s initial cowardly handling of the storm of hellfire arising in the Middle East due to the Obama administration’s initial cowardly handling of the previous storm of hellfire that arose in the Middle East.
2. The media goes nuts, charging Romney with slandering Dear Leader, being tone deaf, being opportunistic, speaking while Republican, the whole book. The Romney campaign is declared a disaster.
3. Obama’s six point convention bounce disappears and the candidates are once more neck and neck in the most responsible polls.
4. Romney is caught on tape saying that nearly half the country is on government assistance and will vote for Obama to keep the dole coming. In related news, a video is unearthed of Pythagoras saying that the square of the hypotenuse of the right triangle is equal to the sum of the square of the two adjacent sides.
5. Once again, the media goes blitheringly insane. Romney doesn’t care about the poor and goes about hitting them over the head with facts. You could kill a person that way! Meanwhile, a tape of Obama declaring that he supports the redistribution of wealth is released. Now we know: Romney’s a conservative, Pythagoras is a triangle guy, and Obama’s a socialist. The Romney campaign is declared a disaster.
6. Rasmussen shows Romney inching into the lead in the battleground states.
7. One more disastrous week for Romney and he could win by a landslide!
Update: More about this here as I join a Ricochet podcast starring Rob Long, James Lileks and Peter Robinson.

Hah! Next thing you know Romney will end up saying something ridiculous like working for your own living is what helps build value and character! I mean, does he think we SHOULDN’T have the government pay our way or something? I’m entitled to sit around and let others pay my bills because I deserve it.. because I say so.. because other people have too much money.. that they worked for and earned.. I mean, why can’t I get paid as much as a neurosurgeon? It’s only fair..
Hey there, how’s this for Romney’s new campaign slogan – never ending damage control is what we do best?
I think your hero Romoney is trying to convince himself now that his foot still tastes good. What do ya think? I got another campaign slogan for ya – take the letter M out after the letter R in MORMON and that is what we are.
Well we see that at least one of the 47% that is following the messiah can at least type a comment, however inane. Good for you, keep it up and someday the thinking process might return.
Rob, With the daily damage that Obama and his sychophants are causing to every aspect of our society, saying Romney is the best at damage control is not an effective slur. Maybe you should stick with meaningless personal attacks in your troll posts. Those don’t require you to think.
Good grief! With the amount of destruction Obozo has done to the country we NEED some damage control right now!
+ 1
Rob, have you noticed the polls?
Roughly once a week, Something Happens, usually involving the President opening his mouth with a silly unforced error, and his ratings slide.
At roughly the same frequency, Mitt Romney does something of no particular consequence, such as saying that liberals probably won’t vote for a Republican, and the press goes crazy, creating a scandal out of nothing… and the polls stay the same.
Now who’s in need of damage control again?
Keep talking, Mr. President. Just keep talking. By the way, that new emblem of yours, with the Obama O replacing the stars in the flag, simultaneously declaring yourself the Only True Star and showing that Old Glory ain’t good enough for you — nice job! Show it at all your rallies. I especially recommend that you use that when military personnel will be present; they’ll love it.
Some statistic made by someone who does that kind of thing said that Liberals or better off than conservatives. The poor people and uneducated are the one’s who vote Republican. Of course I have no proof of this but Romney does not have actually have proof that people who don’t, pay income tax vote democrat or are lazy.
I agree 100% about the flag issue – imho it is treasonous! I am so glad that I served under Presidents Reagan and Bush #1. Clinton was bad, but Obama is horrible! I don’t know how the servicemen who serve at his side can face him (let alone SALUTE him) day in and day out, because they certainly know that Obama does not respect them.
If you really want to feel bad, I had to serve in the Army under Carter, and to make matters worse his god forsaken name is on my naturalization papers. Proud to be a US citizen but not proud of the President at the time. Guess I’ll go have a Billy Beer and lick my wounds.
Add 2 letters to Rob and you get ROBOT
” take the letter M out after the letter R in MORMON and that is what we are.”
Speak for yourself, Rob. You’ve been imbibing too deeply of the Kool-aide, me thinks.
Rob is a Modern Liberal. Watch your pocket book, he may Rob you. Legally.
More Micro Targeting.
– you are the best of the troll slayers! Please keep up the PJM troll patrol.
“I think your hero Romoney [sic] is trying to convince himself now that his foot still tastes good. What do ya think? I got another campaign slogan for ya – take the letter M out after the letter R in MORMON and that is what we are.”
Rob: Romney doesn’t have to convince himself of that – Biden has the market cornered on foot-in-mouth disease. And actually you make a good point about the “M”. You see, voters on both sides of this election are really quite similar: many who vote for Romney are Mormons, and many who vote for Obama are morons – separated only by an “M”. I’m buying M&Ms for all my liberal friends – but I doubt if they can figure out where the M goes.
LOL.
Every time Obama says “Now Let Me Be Clear”, the Spin Doctors at the White House go into overdrive to walk back whatever it was that Obama just said.
People affected by Liberal Blindness only sees this happening, on a much smaller scale (by a person who hasn’t completely failed to deliver on promises) by their “opponents”.
Well, the more Romney tells the truth, the more likely he will be elected.
Obama’s zombies will vote for him, even if he burns down the White House, or because of it! Republicans have no other alternative, and a vote for Barack HUSSEIN Obama is unthinkable.
So, it is the independents who will either like the truth telling,or not. And, if not given enough vocal reasons to choose him, perhaps they will stick with what they know. In other words, if they aim for more of the same, then voting for the Islamist-in-Chief;Thug-in-Chief;Thief-in-Chief;Radical-in-Chief;Pyromaniac-in-Chief;Narcissist-in-Chief is the obvious choice.
IF this is not the case, then http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/08/07/barack-hussein-obamas-deconstruction-plans-green-wise-via-the-economy-disarming-the-citizens-via-gun-control-connecting-the-dots-addendum-to-the-second-term-plans-of-an-obama-presidency-c/ will demonstrate, why a vote for the POTUS is a vote for the destruction of America.
Clear as a bell.
Not so far fetched, Adina, and Shalom!
‘Senator’ Obama campaigned for his cousin Raila Odinga from the slave trading Luo tribe in Kenya, in flagrant violation of the Logan Act. Campaign slogan: ‘Change.’ When Obama’s cousin lost the election, they rampaged through Kenya, herding Christians into a church and set them alight, burning them alive.
In the beginning of his hijacked term of office he mentioned or admitted speaking to Odinga several times a week on his Blackberry.
That Blackberry should be confiscated; its the first time a US President has been able to make unlimited unrecorded (as in number and time) calls to foreign agents.
So no censure for the human conflagration. No remorse, no condemnation, no concern for the victims, etc. Of course, Obama knew that Odinga had pledged Kenya to the African Moslems.
Romney better not say that the sun rise every day. He’ll be declared as an anti-science idiot since everybody knows that clouds can hide the sun for days at a time and since talking about the sun that way is racist.
The sun doesn’t rise, you superstitious cave man.
It goes around.
Or something.
The sun neither rises nor sets, it eternally orbits Obama. It is his greatness that causes the shadow of night and his smile that brings forth the light of day.
From the book of stuff Obots would really like to believe.
That explains all the photos with a halo around that F’n guys head.
Why does Romney not care about the feelings of the residents of Alaska? They do not have sunrise for 6 months and then it never really sets. Why is he being so mean to them? Oh the anguish Alaskan parents must feel having to explain to their children why the Republican presidential candidate hates them so.
After reading the comments in this thread, and realizing the truthfulness of each comment (at least, from the Liberal’s point of view) I wanted to stick a fork in my eye.
Why do they find reality so hard to deal with?
I don’t look like Brad Pit. It’s unfair and I should have government provided plastic surgery so we can have appearance justice in America.
I think that “Landslide” by the Dixie Chicks will be my song of choice for election night. Oh the irony. The polls will “tighten” (unexpectedly) as pollsters desire to keep a modicum of legitimacy for the future. Keep talkin’ Romney.
YOU ARE DESPICABLE PEOPLE!!! Almost half…HALF the country has been forced into poverty because of the Bush Economic Debacle (“BED”) and your chosen representative mercilessly states says “who cares? forget about them, they won’t vote for me anyway.” What an evil, despicable, rich, lily white sub-human!
You forgot the sarctag, genius. And, just in case your post was serious, you’re a moron. Moron.
Welcome to PJM,Salsero.
Lovely Earth is a regular here, who posts (most of the time) in the manner of your typical mindless leftist (but I repeat myself).
However, she is actually a solid conservative.
It’s called, “parody”.
MORMON!!! You forgot Mormon!
Ack! You’re slipping!
And white (European-descended) male. She forgot the most despicable thing of all.
Ask any post-modern historian.
“Howard Zinn, pick up the red courtesy phone, please- or just answer your damn cellphone you wouldn’t have if not for the Western Civilization you despise.”
clear ether

OMG…..I did! I forgot to throw in a Mormon insult. The thing about that is that the crazy left really doesn’t care about the whole Mormon thing. But if Romney were a born again Christian, well, the hate would be ramped up a few notches. The left hates nothing more than Christ…..
OMG LovelyEarth, you played the 47% down to a tee. How did you know what they were thinking or even be able to delve into their total subconsciousness? You are so amazing and I say this with total sincerity. What am I thinking right now? Can you delve into this simpleton’s mind? No, you are sooo wrong. I did not flip the bird on you. I actually think you deserve the Nobel Peace prize. You have so much compassion in what you do and I think you do it so well. That Nobel Peace prize cannot come soon enough for you. Oh wait, I know why it hasn’t arrived yet. It’s because you are next in line after Mr. Romoney.
Hit a nerve did he/she? Heh……
Also I heard that Romney eats dogs, leaves babies to die in utility rooms, and assassinates American citizens while deploying troops around the globe without Congressional approval. I say it’s time to get that guy back to Utah with his own people.
Um no the crash came because bleeding heart dems thought every slug in the country should have a home.
No, “the crash came” because investment banks were bundling largely worthless CDOs and knowingly selling them as Triple A. Blaming home buyers for the financial crisis is like blaming baseball fans for MLB steroid abuse. It astounds me that people still don’t have a clue about this.
A baseball fan is not an active and willing participant in the process that gets drugs from the syringe into the athlete’s bloodstream. Someone who has a mortgage that they can’t afford to pay back, at some point, voluntarily approached a bank, requested a sum of money, and signed paperwork promising to pay back $X per month for Y number of months. Many also wanted a certain amount, found out they “qualified” for a much larger amount, and accepted it! Don’t need a 5 bedroom house for a family of 4? Who cares, I qualify! Your company is showing slipping sales and you think layoffs might be coming? Who cares, I qualify! Your mortgage payment, car payments, and minimum credit card payments come to over half your income? Who cares, I qualify! The millions of people who got loans they could not afford are not without blame in the mortgage crisis. However, the government is at the top of the pyramid – they forced banks to make the loans in the first place, telling them that they would back the bad ones with taxpayer money. The banks are not blameless either, although there is no way to know how many of those loans would not have been made had they been able to use the lending standards they had used for decades.
Any desire to go back and say that is an apt analogy? Or just an Obama troll who won’t come back at all?
“Safety nets, not hammocks.”
“No representation without taxation.”
You are wasting your breath. The people like Rob and Walt are among those 47%. They are beyond the point of return(to reasons). They are among those who will not standup and take personal responsibilities for themselves. They much prefer others to take responsibility for them. Like a small children, for who adults must take responsibilities until they come of age. Except, most of those 475 will never come of age. Perpetual consumers, ballast. Useless.
Yup. What I’ve been sayin’, though not as well. Add generation divide, where kids won’t believe what their parents learned the hard way about prudent debt/income ratios, so are easy to sell.
Investment banks?……Yes, but don’t leave out Fannie and Freddie, quasi-government institutions, defended by the Democrats. The government (including government-supported NGOs such as ACORN) was involved from the start, from OK-ing the selling of mortgages to unqualified borrowers to lack of Federal oversight and ignoring warnings from the private sector. “It astounds me”…that you can’t understand that if there were no “housing bubble: there would not have been a “financial crises”.
So you must be one of those 47%. No wonder you’re so upset at the thought of losing it all when Romney becomes our next president and fights for those people who want to work for a living.
ahahahaaahahahaaa
wait, you’re not serious, right?
Bush? Really? Four years ago Obama promised he could fix the economy… and you are blaming Bush 4 years later? When exactly does Obama’s term begin… Maybe that is why the chair is empty, Obama thought his job didn’t start until after 4 years was up.
The question is, of course, has two or three generations of Marxist, Gramscian, all out warfare and subversion, directed against all of the fundamental building blocks—the family, the church, the Academy, civic institutions, business, government and politics, the law and law enforcement—our ideals, and the leadership class in our Western, bourgeois societies, and the Gramscian indoctrination in our schools, churches, and by the “entertainment industry” been sufficient to change what used to be the fundamental mind-set and ethos of this country, and just how many voters are out there who think like “Peggy Joseph” (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P36x8rTb3jI ).

President Obama is headed to defeat in November, and it won’t be close. Forget about the polls, and forget about the cadre of delusional Democrats who can’t stop telling us how great and successful the last three and a half years have been. Slick Willy can shill all he likes, but seriously, he’s preaching to the choir, because the only ones believing his shtick are bought and paid for sycophants, crony capitalists, and members of the mainstream media.

@LovelyEarth:
May God bless you and open your eyes and ears.
Good oneut I suspect the pproblem is not in the eyes or the ears but in the hardened heart. God can only invite the willing.
Y’all need to pay attention.
LE is a solid conservative. She writes parody.
Well, I read the Daily Mail UK and they like the negative Romney stories (red meat to their known conservative American readers) and the comments were overwhelmingly in support of Romney.
However, since it’s been discovered that Mother Jones edited out two minutes of the tape they’ve yanked the story.
They DID NOT edit that story! The videographer’s hand slipped (sweaty palms in the midst of the enemy) and accidently stopped recording until Romney got back to the good parts. Besides, it’s no big deal. It was just a couple of minutes
Yeah, it’s not like it was 18 minutes, or anything like that*.
*At least it really was a “tape” in Nixon’s case…
BS
there was no camera frame change..
You must be one of those Kool-Aid drinkers. The Kool-Aid will be dry in November.
They never learn that Kool-ade sticks like crazy to their tinfoil hats, do they?
Somebody give me a good shaking here. I am currently freaking out that we might lose. On lib blogs they appear to be getting as smug as ever again. Local TV News (SF Bay Area) is outdoing itself in regular nightly segments about each day’s alleged Romney disaster.
Since half the population are of below average intelligence, the Liberal narrative of Get Those Rich Bastards will always find fresh meat. It worked for Stalin, Castro, Jong Il, Mao and Hitler.
Again, somebody please tell me it’s just my environment.
Don’t worry if the SF area news and liberal blogs are your bell weather.
It IS your environment.
Here, read this, and let not your heart be troubled.
http://datechguyblog.com/2012/09/17/demoralized-as-hell-the-poll-the-media-isnt-talking-about-edition/
Mr. Klavan I urge you to check Brian’s link – it is pretty darn incredible. It would be really nice to see it reposted on PJM. Thank you Brian for quite a nugget…
Smug is good! Smug is more likely to encourage them to stay home on election day.
On the other hand “fear” on our part is more likely to send us scittering out to vote.
If the slim media were smart (HA!) they’d be reporting that Romney was up by 20 points to make us comfy enough to stay home.
Haha…it’s your environment. Kind of like someone complaining that all of his neighbors are thieves and low lifes – when he is incarcerated in a prison!
Best to move to a different locale or learn to take their smugness with a huge grain of salt.
I remember the last time a lot of libs got smug. Scott Brown won.
Just remember that famous New York voter from 1972 my friend: “Everyone I know voted for McGovern!”
Also look up “preference cascade.”
It’s just your environment.
“…saying that nearly half the country is on government assistance and will vote for Obama to keep the dole coming.”
And I suspect a sizable chunk of these are in public-sector unions. I don’t know how many regulators are required to dot every i and cross every t for each new regulation, but I am pretty sure a good chunk of those who are ready to follow Obama over the financial cliff will do so because job security matters more to them than liberty.
Our country needs to have this conversation about the size and scope of government. Let Romney and Obama debate it. More government? Less government? Bring it on!
Now, why would people who’ve never been “between jobs” since they graduated and went to work for the government think job security was really important to them? Just because they KNOW they don’t have any job-hunting or career-changing skills? Seriously, as part of down-sizing the government, we really need to think (at least as hard as large corporations do when they do a serious RIF) about retraining and support, and about the rate at which private enterprise can absorb these no-longer-needed bureaucrats.
Don’t forget heterosexual male.
We The People to the Media:
We are sick of being lied to.
Mr. Romney should never lie to us, at a fund raiser or anywhere.
this is turning into one strange election. somebody tell me its my environment:
1. homeland security has w/in the last six mos. bought 1.4 billion rounds of people type bullets, not necessarily practice rounds. these are put down civil uprising numbers. didn’t i see where the SS office also got a bunch of bullets? wtf is that all about?
2. i just witnessed issa and fox try to just pretty much dismiss fast & furious. the d.o.j. sends an i.g. to inspect doj boss, and you’ll never guess what? that’s right. holder had nothing to do w/ it, much less his boss. they try to make it sound like somehow guns just wound up in mex. drug cartel hands down in mexico. didn’t stimulus funds (channeled by obiwon) pay for these shovel ready weapons? aren’t there still thousands of missing emails? didn’t a sitting president just punt and claim executive privilege to keep from coming clean?
oh wait, i think i get it now. this was all a scam. you claim that ‘criminal looking timeout’, called executive privilege, so you can let the dead lie for a while. assign a minion to stall, then come out w/ a joke for an investigation and report. the fox says the hen house is a.o.k.
3. hundreds of brand new unilateral executive laws targeting Americans, and curbing their ability to defend themselves from their own government.
4. destroying valuable industries, w/o ANY legitimate replacements. (ex:
coal, oil)
5. i guess they made up for it by telling us it wasn’t a terroroist attack on 9-11, (coincidence?) it was a video? and they promptly arrested the producer. more brilliance. also, it was told to our people it was coming. heavy weapons? trained in our safe houses? yeah, just a mardi gras parade that got out of hand kinda thingy?
folks, these people doing some serious drugs. see, i can take up for the prez. too.
Not hardly 1.4 “billion” rounds of ammo. Try 1.4 million, and you’d be closer.
Divide by several thousand agents, qualifying twice per year, couple hundred rounds per qualify, and all of a sudden that number isn’t so terrifying. It’s just a big goddamn country. Even our paper-clip account is in the millions.
Wrong!! It is 1.4 billion.
Truth for left/liberals is like sunlight to vampires.
Dear Andy,
You were doing alright until you got to your so-called god. Can’t you Christians keep that wild speculation out of your political commentary?
And you could not simply overcome the part when a christian *gasps* acknowledges his faith without mocking him? You hate filled bigots get tiresome.
Ahhhh, dear Lolitta,
would you say the same thing to a Muslim? We, people of faith could start taking bets, how long would it take for fatwa be declared on you, and you head rolled off you. You can only insult civilized people of faith, Christians, Jews. They do not riot against people like you.
Does anyone on this site realize that the 47% who don’t pay Income Taxes include retired couples on Social Security, college students, those earning too little, and armed forces in combat among others. And an awful lot of them live in Red States. But all of the folks on this site keep looking at the popular vote, unaware that the Electoral College is a landslide for Obama at this point. There are 10 swing states that Romney must sweep in order to win. Obama has many ways to victory, Mitt has very few. Keep following all these nut case commentators and you will only deceive yourself.
So we can only deceive ourselves? Whoa, that would be nice for a change after three plus years or being deceived by the Alinskite in the White House.
You apparently fail to understand that for some of us, winning isn’t everything. Avoiding the path you’re on by following the anti-freedom, anti-God, anti-family, anti-responsibilty, anti-truth party into Hades, first here on earth, later,…well, you got my drift.
Lot’s of luck with your concern about deception as you follow the large-eared one into moral and cultural oblivion.
Winning isn’t everything? Who’s that football guy who said “winning is the only thing”.
6 actually
FL, OH, VA, IN, NC and A N Other
You are forgetting Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin,New Hampshire, along with North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia are all in play. Mitt needs a lot of them to get to 270. The South Dakotas, Wyomings, and Utahs don’t amount to a hill of beans electorally.dream on folks.
Mitt’s comment about the 47% is probably correct in general. Most of the people who are on the gravy train probably will vote for Dear Leader. I suspect Dear Leader will get about 85% (my guess) of the 47% or a floor of about 40% of the population. Of this 40%, how many will actaully vote versus the rest of the people.
Someone of the 47% actually detest Dealer Leader and his policies because they realize that economic growth will give them an opportunity to improve economically. This improvement will not happen when you are on the gravy train.
As a very senior citizen on social security, I deeply resent being lumped in with the 47%, my late husband and I paid social security TAX through the nose our entire lives and without a choice. I like Ryan’s plan and it does not scare me, but my son’s future does, I want him to have a choice.
The fact they released this in September tells you what the state of the Obama campaign is. This was being saved for later but needed to be released sooner than planned.
There is a political culture, and not only on the left, that puts cleverness above truth. It’s the same here in Israel. I can’t believe how many people tell me how clever is Shimon Peres, even though every single one of his clever tricks has miserably failed. I can only hope that most people can see through this cleverness and opt for the truth. Go Romney.
Anyone have the Youtube handle for that Pythagoras video?
Seriously, I’m not sure there was a true ‘bounce’ for either candidate for their respective conventions. Despite the media cheerleading, what’s happening now is explained simply. First, people who are generally low-politics types (don’t follow the political news and aren’t political junkies) are beginning to pay attention. Second, the polls are more and more shifting from ‘all adults’ to ‘registered voters’ to ‘likely voters’.
Right now those polls have to go D+10 or so to show an Obama lead. By late October they’ll have to go D+20 to show Obama tied. And they will, but the average person won’t be fooled.
“Romney is caught on tape saying that nearly half the country is on government assistance and will vote for Obama to keep the dole coming.”
No, Romney is caught on tape saying that nearly half the country won’t take personal responsibility for their own lives. It was a damn stupid thing to say, and the media was right to hammer him for it. What kind of fantasy world do you folks live in where people shouldn’t be held accountable for their own words?
In other words Romney was caught telling the truth. If telling lies is a prerequisite for public office, and the telling of truth a scandal, then our country is well and truly fucked and I’ve no reason to work so hard to save it.
Those who clamor for dependence on the state, deserve what they are going to get.
Do you know what the deficit is?
Is Gitmo still open?
What is the unemployment rate?
Why is gas $4.00/gal?
Why is the Fed Printing $$$ for Wall St.?
Does inflation cause more harm to the poor or the rich?
Is good to kill Americans without due process?
Is a midnight raid on a filmmaker a Modern Liberal value?
Does the LA Times have an unreleased tape of Mr. President expressing views of political interest?
Why is that tape not released?
Could you keep your collage grades a secret?
Why does Mr. President, the chief law enforcement officer in the nation, put so many people in jail for simple marijuana violations, destroying the lives of many young people, when he himself “choomed” extensively when young?
Why is Detroit Detroit?
Which philosophy, the philosophy of Joseph Smith or the philosophy Karl Marx caused more human suffering?
Which is more ‘damn stupid’? Not taking personal responsibility for your own life, or hearing Romney break the news?
UH OH!!!
“Democratic Enthusiasm Swells in the Swing States, Nationally”
http://www.gallup.com/poll/157547/democratic-enthusiasm-swells-swing-states-nationally.aspx
One problem, Donnie Boy. As late as October 15, 1980, Jimbo Carter lead Ronald Reagan by eight points, and the election over.
Three times your Dear Leader Obama gets to stand in front of a nationwide audience and tell us how successful he has been without aid of a teleprompter sans notes.
We’ll remind the nation that Mr. Obama promised to halve the debt, not double it. We’ll remind the audience that a trillion dollar stimulus was promised to give us 5.5% unemployment, yet a market labor force shrinking 4% with $5.5 trillion in debt and two debt downgrades under the Obama tutelage. We’ll remind the nation Mr. Obama promised to close GITMO and Afghan was the good war, as our dead are flown home and a nuclear Iran a certainty under the leadership of The One. We’ll remind the nation of one in six in poverty, and 17MM added to the food stamp rolls. And we’ll remind the nation that Dear Leader would bring respect to America as the nation of Islam burns in 23 countries, dead American ambassadors in tow with American embassies on fire.
Sometime, someplace before this election through, Obama has to step out from behind the curtain of legions of boot lickers like you and stand on his own record of massive failure in every regard.
I’m a patient man, Donny boy.
So you make sure you make it back in here after Mr. Obama shuffles across the stage. This ain’t NCAA tournament brackets any longer.
Donnie would not wager on it, even with PJM holding escrow.
You know, Donny, no matter who wins, it’s just not going to go very well for you and your ilk. You fancy yourself immune to the consequences of your very bad ideas, when nothing could be further from the truth. As to those consequences, your chances for surviving them are nil.
Meanwhile, chew on this: “What I Saw at the Coup. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2929658/posts?page=201
Kinda makes you drool at the thought of the upcoming debates, huh?
No, Romney was saying that when a substantial number of people rely on a check from the government, it becomes extremely difficult to persuade them that printing more money is a really bad idea. The reaction since the comment proves that Romney was absolutely right. It may be that we have passed the point of all reason. To those of you who are taking this as a personal attack may I remind you that you will suffer most from current monetary policies? But maybe Romney is right. Maybe you will not get it.
The satire Alice in Blunderland by John Kendrick Bangs is an entertaining story that may help some people understand that we cannot print our way out of this mess. You can find it free on Kindle and a free audio version on Archive.org. Written about a century ago it has never been more relevant. Obama’s monetary policies are building Blunderland.
It’s easier to fool people than to convince people that they have been fooled.
Mark Twain
Gallup is out today with a poll showing a tie 47/47. This is registered voters, not likely voters. I’d venture to say that reports the death of the Romney campaign have been greatly exaggerated. http://www.gallup.com/poll/150743/Obama-Romney.aspx
Well, since I had a 47% mom sitting at my kitchen table yesterday, shaking and in tears, begging for me to help her husband find a job, any job, I’d say Mr Romney can campaign for the 47%. She’d just been parked in front of the house they’d lived in while her husband had a job, and cried for everything they’d lost. They get foodstamps and Medicare. She wants a part-time job, her husband wants a full-time job- he’s worked since he was 15- I can’t get her a job, but I can think of where they could look.
For that matter, I could tell her which food pantry and pastor would listen to her pleas.
Just b/c you are on welfare, doesn’t mean you want to stay on welfare.
And Obama’s solution is to print money.
Romney’s solution has 39 points of exact plans to help small businesses start to hire again… but that isn’t specific enough for the media.
So Mitt summerized it to 5 points and finally he’s figured out Democrats can’t even count to 5… I think he may have identified the problem.
Obama can’t do it, but Mitt can! Yes he can.
Showing Russian ships to promote an administration who is OK with Russian nuclear submarines on US territory was a stroke of genius.
Obviously The Eastwood Speech was a flop.
Add a couple of things Mitt does that drives liberals crazy.

Like every other Democratic legislator who entered the inner sanctum, Obama began working on his “ideal map.” Corrigan remembers two things about the district that he and Obama drew. First, it retained Obama’s Hyde Park base—he had managed to beat Rush in Hyde Park—then swooped upward along the lakefront and toward downtown. By the end of the final redistricting process, his new district bore little resemblance to his old one. Rather than jutting far to the west, like a long thin dagger, into a swath of poor black neighborhoods of bungalow homes, Obama’s map now shot north, encompassing about half of the Loop, whose southern portion was beginning to be transformed by developers like Tony Rezko, and stretched far up Michigan Avenue and into the Gold Coast, covering much of the city’s economic heart, its main retail thoroughfares, and its finest museums, parks, skyscrapers, and lakefront apartment buildings. African-Americans still were a majority, and the map contained some of the poorest sections of Chicago, but Obama’s new district was wealthier, whiter, more Jewish, less blue-collar, and better educated. It also included one of the highest concentrations of Republicans in Chicago.
“It was a radical change,” Corrigan said. The new district was a natural fit for the candidate that Obama was in the process of becoming. “He saw that when we were doing fund-raisers in the Rush campaign his appeal to, quite frankly, young white professionals was dramatic.”
Obama’s personal political concerns were not the only factor driving the process. During the previous round of remapping, in 1991, Republicans had created Chicago districts where African-Americans were the overwhelming majority, packing the greatest number of loyal Democrats into the fewest districts. A decade later, Democrats tried to spread the African-American vote among more districts. The idea was to create enough Democratic-leaning districts so that the Party could take control of the state legislature. That goal was fine with Obama; his new district offered promising, untapped constituencies for him as he considered his next political move. “The exposure he would get to some of the folks that were on boards of the museums and C.E.O.s of some of the companies that he would represent would certainly help him in the long run,” Corrigan said.
In the end, Obama’s North Side fund-raising base and his South Side political base were united in one district. He now represented Hyde Park operators like Lois Friedberg-Dobry as well as Gold Coast doyennes like Bettylu Saltzman, and his old South Side street operative Al Kindle as well as his future consultant David Axelrod. In an article in the Hyde Park Herald about how “partisan” and “undemocratic” Illinois redistricting had become, Obama was asked for his views. As usual, he was candid. “There is a conflict of interest built into the process,” he said. “Incumbents drawing their own maps will inevitably try to advantage themselves.”
The partisan redistricting of Illinois may have been the most important event in Obama’s early political life. It immediately gave him the two things he needed to run for the Senate in 2004: money and power. He needed to have several times as much cash as he’d raised for his losing congressional race in 2000, and many of the state’s top donors now lived or worked in his district. More important, the statewide gerrymandering made it likely that Obama’s party would take over the State Senate in 2002, an event that would provide him with a platform from which to craft a legislative record in time for the campaign.
Obama’s political activity from 2001 to 2004 reveals a man transformed. The loss to Rush drained him of much of the naïveté he once exuded. For instance, when Obama arrived in Springfield, in 1996, he was still enamored of the spirit of community organizing and determined to apply its principles as a legislator. In an interview with the Chicago Reader in 1995, he laid out this vision:
