Schumer Culpa

I know I already covered Charles Schumer’s “♡bamaCare!!! Oops!” on Friday, but Ed Morrissey’s writeup included a quote which flew by my on the first reading. Here it is:

“We were in the middle of a recession. People were hurting and saying, ‘What about me? I’m losing my job. It’s not health care that bothers me. What about me?’” Even worse, Schumer argued, the program only provided benefits to “about 5 percent of the electorate,” while “only about a third of the uninsured are even registered to vote.”

In other words, Schumer’s problem with his President’s signature legislation is that it bribed the wrong people and didn’t bribe enough of them.

Of course, I’ve been saying for seemingly ever that ♡bamaCare!!!’s lopsided winners-to-losers ratio is what will ultimately doom the law — a conclusion Schumer seems to agree with at least in part.
