Yesterday we learned from Dana Milbank that ♡bamaCare!!! is failing because of Republicans. But today Harold Meyerson is here to teach us that ♡bamaCare!!! is failing because of Republicans. Except that it’s working because of Democrats. Or something. Honestly, it’s a very confused and confusing column. Let’s look at the lede:
Despite the treasured right-wing talking points, it’s increasingly clear that Obamacare is a success. Moreover, in places where Obamacare is not succeeding, it’s also clear that the right wing is to blame. Well, it’s clear to any who look at the state-by-state numbers of the newly insured. A whole lot of Americans will have to look, however, for the program’s success to redound to Democrats’ advantage.
I’m going to strip that graf down for you into easily-digestible (right-wing!) talking points, sentence by sentence.
• Republicans say ♡bamaCare!!! isn’t working, but I say it is working.
• Except where it’s not working, which is because of Republicans.
• There are newly-insured, but I’m not saying how many, or what the net might be.
• Americans will have to look at something (???) for the program’s (hidden?) success for Democrats to win.
I had a eighth-grade teacher who would have smacked me on the back of the head with a rolled up magazine if I had written something that incoherent — and Doc Kalmar was teaching me first-year German.
If this is the best defense a dyed-pink-in-the-wool ♡bamaCare!!! supporter can muster, then do please pass the popcorn.
