Katrina Vanden Heuvel, checking in from Planet Schminky, detects a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices are about to suddenly cry out. Or something:
A word of advice: If you’re announcing the most radical and reactionary Republican ticket in half a century, don’t do it on a ship named for the birthplace of progressivism, to Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man.”
But that is precisely the kind of audacity congressman-turned-vice presidential-nominee Paul Ryan brings to the flailing Romney campaign. Courage! Vision! And that hair!
Goodness, but she’s a nasty piece of work, isn’t she?
Still, there’s great entertainment value to be had in watching the vile progs try and paint Mitt Romney — Mitt Romney — as somewhere to the right of Ronald Reagan. And it’s “radical and reactionary” to put Federal spending on a decade-long glide-path down to its postwar (and bipartisan) norm.
Does she believe this stuff? I mean, did she really pop in for a quick visit from a galaxy far, far away? Or is Katrina just a great big partisan hack liar vile prog?
You make the call!
