The Recall That Dare Not Speak Its Name

GM is calling it a “call back,” not a recall, but 8,000 Chevy Volt owners will have to see the dealer next month for repairs:

The car maker said it would upgrade the steel structure and liquid coolant system surrounding the battery in the Volt to prevent the electrical fire hazard. Dealers will be making these modifications for current Volt owners beginning next month, the company said. Additionally, GM will begin integrating the changes into new Volts.

I wonder how much weight will be added, and what will happen to the Volt’s 35-mile range.
